June Coffee - A Cosy Gem in Joo Chiat
How do you celebrate National Day? We decided to explore the vibrant Joo Chiat precinct to fully experience Singapore's local culture. Our first stop was for a bowl of the beloved Katong Laksa, a staple in the area. Afterward, we visited the newly opened June Cafe, conveniently located just across from the laksa spot.
June Cafe boasts a minimalist design and a cosy atmosphere. We were fortunate to be seated by the window, where sunlight poured in, casting a warm, golden glow over the space.
The cafe offers a well-rounded menu featuring not only artisanal coffee but also a selection of mains and sides. We sampled a variety of coffee, with the Black Sesame Latte standing out as a personal favourite. The addition of sesame cream to the coffee is both brilliant and delicious, balancing the bitterness with a subtle sweetness.
For our meal, we tried the Gochujang Pasta and the Sesame Cream Croffle. The pasta was pleasantly light, with the Korean Gochujang paste perfectly cutting through the creaminess. The Croffle, which was exceptional, had a crispy exterior while remaining soft inside, likely due to its Injeolmi flavour.
Overall, the cafe's creative approach to traditional dishes was worth a visit!
