Temple recommendation:
Jizushan Mountain, Dali - Hengyang Nunnery
Hengyang Nunnery, originally named Hengyang Nunnery, is located next to the Yue Mountain Cave under the Fangguang Temple, also known as the Yue Mountain Quiet Room. Looking up, Hengyang Nunnery is connected to Huashou Gate and Fangguang Temple. As early as the Ming Dynasty, there were monks from Hengyang who built thatched cottages here. In 2003, Master Cifa of Fangguang Temple and several disciples selected the site, and in 2007, it was rebuilt as the nunnery of Fangguang Temple, with the Reception Hall, Five Views Hall, and Buddha Hall already built. There is a spring on the east side of the Reception Hall, called Liuli Spring, which is the main source of drinking water for the monks in the nunnery. There is also a stream next to the main hall, winding down, with mountains and water depending on each other, and the environment is quiet.

Jizu Mountain is really worth visiting.
Jizu Mountain is really worth visiting. Highly recommended!|||This was my first time visiting Jizu Mountain. I didn't do enough research, so the trip was a bit rushed. Before going, I thought it would be similar to the temples I usually visit. But when I got there, I realized that the Buddhist atmosphere at Jizu Mountain is really strong. Recently, I've been feeling down because of work and personal life, especially work. I feel super drained and unhappy. On the way to Jizu Mountain, I was preoccupied with my thoughts and couldn't calm down to think. My mind was filled with worries. The weather was also not good in the days leading up to the trip, so I was worried about rain and brought a raincoat. But all my worries disappeared when I reached the foot of the mountain. We set off early in the morning, and the weather wasn't great. But when we arrived at Jizu Mountain, the sun came out. We took the scenic shuttle bus from the ticket office to Shizhong Temple and then climbed up. The whole process was very peaceful, and I had no distractions.
Here's a summary of our itinerary:
Transportation 🚗 - We started from Dali Ancient Town. It's easy to get there (we only realized this after we arrived because we took a taxi and got scammed by the driver). You can take a Didi bus from San Yue Jie Bus Station to the mountain and then take the scenic shuttle bus up the mountain. If you're driving, you can go directly to Zhusheng Temple. If you exercise regularly, you can climb from Zhusheng Temple to Jinding Temple. If you don't exercise much, I recommend taking the scenic cable car up the mountain (if you plan to walk the whole way, bring a hiking stick. The downhill path is really steep. We didn't expect it to be so steep, and our legs were shaking uncontrollably on the way down).
Incense for worship 🔥 - I suggest buying incense at the foot of the mountain. You can buy a little less of the large incense, as it can only be used at Zhusheng Temple and Shizhong Temple. Bring some change.
Food and accommodation - If you want to see the sunrise and sea of clouds, you can stay at the top of the mountain. But bring warm clothes, as it's really cold at the top. There are many inns at the foot of the mountain. You can buy some food to replenish your energy, like Snickers bars.

Jizu Mountain
The eight scenic spots of Jizu Mountain in Yunnan, as recorded in the mountain chronicles, are: Tianzhu Buddha Light, Huashou Clear Thunder, Cangshan Snow, Erhai Returning Mist, Tayuan Autumn Moon, Ten Thousand Valleys Pine Waves, Flying Waterfall Through Clouds, and Chongyan Reflected Light. These are the most famous natural landscapes of Jizu Mountain. Today's Jizu Mountain in Binchuan, Dali, remains beautiful and mysterious, attracting countless tourists to visit. Here, you can not only enjoy magnificent natural scenery but also feel the profound historical and cultural heritage. If you also want to embark on a spontaneous trip, come to Jizu Mountain. Dali
Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, a national autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, is located in the central western part of Yunnan Province. It features a low-latitude plateau monsoon climate with distinct dry and wet seasons. Most areas experience no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, covering a total area of 29,459 square kilometers.
Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture has a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, ethnic minorities such as the Bai and Yi peoples have thrived here. During the Tang and Song dynasties, local regimes such as the 'Nanzhao Kingdom' and the 'Dali Kingdom' emerged. In 1956, the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture was established. Its capital, Dali City, is a junction of the Yunnan-Burma Road and the Yunnan-Tibet Road, historically an important transfer station for the 'Shudian Poison Road' and the 'Ancient Tea Horse Road.' It is now planned to be the central city of western Yunnan, a regional transportation hub, and a logistics center of western Yunnan.
Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture boasts over 130 scenic spots and tourist areas, including the Buddhist holy site of Jizu Mountain, the Taoist famous mountain of Weibao Mountain, the cave treasure of Shibaoshan, and the plateau pearl Erhai Lake. Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake form a national scenic area, and 'Cangshan's Nature and Nanzhao Cultural Relics' are national natural and cultural heritage sites. The capital of the autonomous prefecture, Dali, is one of the first batch of 24 national famous historical and cultural cities, encompassing a national historical and cultural city, a national scenic area, a national nature reserve, an outstanding Chinese tourist city, the best charming city in China, a national geological park, one of China's top ten tourist and leisure cities, the best leisure travel destination in China, and the most famous cultural city in China, all in one.

Rush to the Chicken Foot Mountain in Dali
🤭After three years of visiting Chicken Foot Mountain, I finally figured out the route without self-driving❗
📍Departing from Kunming, take the high-speed train🚄
⚠️Key points
Option 1️⃣ Take the high-speed train directly to Dali Station, then go to the Dali Bus Station opposite the high-speed train station to take the direct bus to Chicken Foot Mountain, which takes about 2.3h‼️ However, there are no direct buses after 11:00 am. If you miss it, you'll have to take a bus to Binchuan first, then from Binchuan Bus Station to Chicken Foot Mountain, which might take 3~4h+, basically spending the whole day on the road.
Option 2️⃣ Take the high-speed train to Xiangyun Station, then take a bus from Xiangyun to Binchuan, and transfer to Chicken Foot Mountain. I haven't tried this duration, but it is the recommendation from local bus drivers, and it indeed looks more direct on the map, avoiding backtracking and possibly saving some time.
🏠Regarding accommodation, there are two options.
Option 1️⃣ You can stay on the mountain, where there are many small guesthouses, making it easier to climb the mountain the next day.
Option 2️⃣ Stay at Siqian Village at the foot of the mountain, where I recommend a guesthouse‼️ It's operated by locals, the owners are very friendly and enthusiastic, the room environment is also quite good, and the key point is‼️ you can also dine in the guesthouse, and the food prepared by the lady boss is so delicious, fried potatoes p6 are a must-order for us every time, this time we also had sea bass p7 (the dipping sauce for the sea bass is superb p8‼️), boiled rice noodles p9 are all delicious, no disappointments, and reasonably priced. The next day, the owner will use their own car to take us up the mountain close to the sightseeing bus station, so no worries there.
⛰️Regarding climbing the mountain
Option 1️⃣ Sightseeing bus🚌-Cable car🚡-Walk a short distance to reach the Golden Summit Temple (mountaintop), both ways are possible.
Option 2️⃣ Walk up the mountain, it takes 4-5h to reach the Golden Summit if starting from the ticket office, or 2-3h from the sightseeing bus station (near Shizhong Temple).
🌿Go breathe in nature with a devout heart

Travel advice for Yunnan, you must reserve a day for Jizu Mountain when you visit Dali
Jizu Mountain is one of the top ten famous Buddhist mountains in China, and it is a Buddhist holy land in South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is named for its "three peaks in the front and one ridge in the back, just like a chicken foot".
When worshipping at Jizu Mountain, it was the first time I saw a temple put a large pile of free incense for self-service. The fortune-telling sign only costs ¥3 and the written sign costs ¥6. Buddha also saves the poor. When you are in line for fortune-telling, be sure to look up at the Golden Dome Temple. The pagoda will move with the clouds and it is very sacred. The signs of Jizu Mountain are very effective. I have been there for three years in a row, and my luck has been rising, which is very magical.
The scenery on the top of the mountain is very beautiful. You can overlook Binchuan, and if the angle is right, you can even see Erhai Lake. There are steps all the way for hiking, which is quite friendly. It takes about 5 hours. If you can't walk, you can also take the cable car directly.
Buddhist worship Tips:
⚠When entering the temple door, always step in with your left foot and step out with your right foot.
⚠Bring cash, fortune-telling signs, and written signs only accept cash.

Jizu Mountain is so beautiful and full of spirituality
⛰⛰⛰ Three thousand years have passed, the scenery outside the stone gate has changed its color, are the people inside the stone gate still waiting?
⛰⛰⛰ Stepping on the ancient pilgrimage route, now the outdoor route, trekking through thousands of mountains and rivers towards the bright world, Mahakasyapa is meditating.
⛰⛰⛰ Jizu Mountain Pilgrimage Ancient Route: From Dali Yiwase (Haidong)--Muxiangping to the Golden Summit, it is said that Mahakasyapa entered the mountain along this route.
⛰⛰⛰ So later not only the kings and people of the Dali Kingdom and the Nanzhao Kingdom took this pilgrimage route
🥰🥰🥰 The Mu family of Lijiang also took this route, and even the modern monk Xuyun still took this ancient route.

This route will never be repeated. Jizushan.
For an amazing, far off the beaten track route to Jizushan near Dali, use Komoot maps and take the shortest route from Wasezhen. It’s unforgettable and does not disappoint. The first half of the route is great on an electric unicycle, but the second half is hiking only, on small narrow and rocky trails. But reaching the mountain top temple in this way, is truly amazing. After leaving the main road there’s a wide, old cobbled road which later turns into a one metre cobbled horse path. maybe you could teach this trailhead by car. The remaining 10km or so to the top, would still be fantastic. Only for the highly adventurous…#dali #wasezhen #jizushan #adventure #unicycle #euc #temple
