Jinxi, The Hometown of Folk Museums in China
Jinxi is located in Jiangsu Province, China, It is a well-known historical town with a history of more than 2,000 years. We drove to Jinxi from Suzhou (about 23 km). Jinxi is also known as Chenmu, which means the tomb of Chen. There is a touchy story about Chen, the concubine of the emperor Xiaozong. Find online for details. Jinxi is a
wonderfully delicate watery town. It is surrounded by clear water and many waterways snaking through the town. Jinxi has 36 bridges and 72 brick kilns. Gulian bridge is the most eye catching bridge among others. There are a lot of museums in Jinxi with delicate articrafts. You can complete the entire place within half day if you start visiting there early morning. You can also plan to check the other two nearby water towns `Zhouzhuang` (China`s no.1 water town) and Tongli.

Jiangnan Water Town is rich in ancient towns: Jasper Zhouzhuang, rich soil Tongli, Fengqing straight, Mengli Xitang, Shuige Wuzhen have their own advantages, and are favored by tourists, but I only have a special liking for Jinxi Ancient Town. She was born in the gentle waters of the south of the Yangtze River, fading away from the commercial prosperity, leaving the simplicity and elegance alone.
The town in the early morning is immersed in the dream, pushing open the red door of the bed and the mottled wooden door. The smoke shop on both sides of the street is not open yet. I walked through the melody of the bird, passed through the unmanned stone road, and met the ancient lotus pond. The lotus flower that just showed sharp corners, the glory of the morning sun just sprinkled, and the ancient lotus bridge not far away outlined the classical silhouette of the hollow, a breeze passed, and the message of early summer came.

Jiangsu Kunshan Jinxi
traffic:
at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, no matter where it is not far. Shanghai is driving for an hour, and Hangzhou is driving for more than two hours.
What to play:
There is a rafting boat, there is clay making, there is a woodworking experience, and leather handcraft, of course, the most important thing is that there are young people who are in line with the young peoples aesthetics and have excellent service experience. There is also a group of interesting people who love life and create new things.
Here you can bring the children to experience the local, or you can watch the open-air movies with friends while roasting around the campfire, or drive for a few minutes to visit the nearby Jinxi Ancient Town. (Jinxi Ancient Town has an open water area, which is rare in the ancient town. It is worth a visit.)
Price: The price of the hotel varies from a few hundred to several thousand (village package) according to time. By people.

There are many ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River in Suzhou, but when it comes to the ancient towns of Suzhou, many people think of Zhouzhuang for the first time. It is known as the first water town in China. The tourists are crowded with people. If you encounter weekends or national holidays, it is difficult to walk in the scenic spot. Here, for a person who has lived in Suzhou for many years, it is recommended to visit Jinxi Ancient Town, which is less than half an hour's drive from Zhouzhuang.
Jinxi Ancient Town, recalling Jiangnan in the dream. Jinxi Ancient Town is a water town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of more than 2,000 years. It is known as the Hometown of Chinese Folk Museums and has many cultural landscapes, historic sites and countless buildings with unique characteristics. Famous attractions include the Tongshen Royal Court, Chen Yushui, and the Lotus Pond.
Visit Jinxi Ancient Town itself does not need to buy tickets, but to visit the museums in the ancient towns, you need to buy tickets, it is recommended to buy a pass, which is more cost-effective than buying a museum ticket separately.
Wenxing Pavilion is located at the bank of Gulian Pool in Jinxi Town, Kunshan City. It was built in the Ming Dynasty and is a three-story pavilion-style building with a square-wood structure and a flying slanting angle of 15.6 meters. It is worth a visit.

The most beautiful ancient town with a mountain and a lake.
The ancient town with the most beautiful name - Jinxi Ancient Town||
Jinxi, a small town that makes people feel ripples just by hearing its name. Walking on the bluestone bridge in the small town, it seems that I am the poor scholar who is dancing and writing with a feather fan and a turban. Unfortunately, I am ignorant and can't leave any eternal articles. I only remember Bai Juyi's "Remembering Jiangnan". Jiangnan is good, the scenery is old and familiar. The sun rises and the river flowers are red and hot, and the river water is green as blue when spring comes. Can't you remember Jiangnan?
P2 to P8 are Jinxi Ancient Town, P9 to P16 are Qiandeng Ancient Town. The two ancient towns are not far apart and are free.

This 2,500-year-old ancient town in Jiangnan is more worth visiting than Wuzhen.
There is a place that Shen Congwen likened to a 'girl in a dream,' Liu Haisu called it the 'last of Jiangnan,' and Feng Yingzi praised it as 'suitable for both light and heavy makeup.' Unlike the bustling tourist spots, this town remains quietly charming in its secluded corner. With over two thousand years of historical and cultural accumulation, it exudes the unique charm of a water town, like a breathtakingly beautiful painting.
Jinxi Ancient Town, located in the southwestern corner of Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, is one of the 'Four Pearls of Southern Jiangsu,' known for its tranquil and restrained water town scenery. It is only eight kilometers away from the famous Zhouzhuang but boasts a longer and richer historical and cultural heritage.
The name Jinxi has a poetic origin. It is said that there was a small creek in the town, with peach and plum trees lining its banks. The morning and evening glows reflected on the water, making the creek shimmer like a brocade, hence the name Jinxi. The history of the ancient town can be traced back to the Neolithic period. After more than two thousand years of vicissitudes, it still retains the typical style of a Jiangnan water town.
Jinxi is famous for its 'Thirty-six Bridges and Seventy-two Kilns.' These bridges, built during the Ming and Qing dynasties, have withstood the test of time and remain well-preserved. Each bridge has its unique story and charm, such as the Tianshui Bridge (commonly known as the North Guanyin Bridge) and the Jinxi Puqing Bridge, which are popular tourist spots. Among them, Tianshui Bridge, built in the fifth year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1407), has endured over 600 years of wind and rain, still maintaining its original appearance, serene and elegant, full of ancient charm.
The museum cluster in Jinxi is more famous than the ancient town itself. At its peak, the one-square-kilometer ancient town area housed 15 private museums, covering various fields such as antiques, calligraphy and painting, purple clay, strange stones, and root carvings, showcasing the profound folk culture of Jinxi. Among them, the Chinese Ancient Brick and Tile Museum is particularly noteworthy, with a collection of various ancient bricks and tiles from the Neolithic period to the Republic of China. Each exhibit shines with the brilliance of wisdom, leaving people in awe.
When visiting Jinxi, how can you miss the local delicacies? Sock-bottom pastry is a specialty snack in Jinxi, said to be a dessert from the love story of Emperor Xiaozong of Song and Consort Chen. It is crispy and delicious, loved by tourists. In addition, the lake-fresh cuisine in Jinxi is also worth trying, such as steamed whitefish and braised bream, which are signature dishes in local restaurants.
🌟Travel Guide🌟
Transportation: Jinxi is easily accessible. It takes about an hour to drive from Suzhou along the Shanghai-Changzhou Expressway. For public transportation, you can take bus routes 130 or 133 from Kunshan City directly to Jinxi.
Accommodation: There are many inns and homestays in the ancient town to choose from. Although the prices are relatively high, they offer a better experience of the ancient town's atmosphere. Outside the ancient town, you can choose to stay in hotels in Kunshan City or surrounding areas.
Itinerary:
It is recommended to arrange a two-day trip. On the first day, visit attractions such as Lianchi Zen Temple, Consort Chen's Water Tomb, and Guliang Bridge, and taste local delicacies. On the second day, take a boat tour of the water town scenery and visit the folk museums to learn about local traditional culture and handicrafts.
Jinxi Ancient Town attracts more and more tourists with its unique charm. Here, you can slow down and feel the simplicity and tranquility; you can enter the museum cluster to appreciate the profound folk culture; you can also taste local delicacies and enjoy a feast for your taste buds.

If you don't want to be crowded, come to Jinxi Ancient Town for a quiet walk!
📍 Scenic Address: Jinxi Ancient Town, Kunshan, Suzhou
During the summer vacation, Suzhou city is crowded with people. The plum rain season has just passed, and the hot summer is here, with temperatures reaching up to 37 degrees. Traveling to the south of the Yangtze River in this season can be a bit torturous. However, everything has two sides. The summer sky is really beautiful, and if you're lucky, you can see the fiery clouds in the evening, which, against the white walls and black tiles of the ancient town, make for a picturesque scene. If you can't find a less crowded place in Suzhou city, then go out of the city. This Jinxi Ancient Town in Kunshan has very few tourists, but the scenery will definitely not disappoint you.
Jinxi, also known as Chenmu, was named after the beloved concubine of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty, who died here. It only restored its original name in 1992. This is a thousand-year-old town, where ancestors lived and thrived as far back as the Neolithic Age, 5000 years ago. There has always been a saying, "Thirty-six bridges, seventy-two kilns." The town is filled with lakes and rivers, with clear water and green streets, and boats accessible from every household, showcasing the charm of a water town everywhere.
Highlights✨
Few people, beautiful scenery, very quiet, very suitable for a solo walk. Because it is located in the suburbs of Suzhou, and there is the first water town of China, Zhouzhuang, next door, there are few tourists, and not many shops are open. It is so quiet that you can almost only hear the cicadas and birds.
Ancient bridges and kilns, with a long history. The ancient town currently has 26 ancient bridges, especially the Guliang Bridge at the entrance of the ancient town, which has basically become a popular check-in point in Jinxi. Nine out of ten articles about Jinxi have it as the cover! It is indeed beautiful! In summer, the lake is full of lotus leaves and flowers, with blue skies and white clouds, and long bridges lying across the waves. It is truly "the shimmering water is good in the sunny weather."
Since the Ming Dynasty, Jinxi has been known for its kiln production. There are 15 ancient kiln sites preserved, which is the only well-preserved ancient kiln site group in East China.
🚗 Scenic Transportation:
👍️ Must-visit attractions: Lianchi Zen Temple where the water tomb of Concubine Chen is located; Shiyan Long Bridge, a holy place for lake viewing and moon watching; Ding's Residence, known as the first brick and tile museum in China; Shiyuan, the former residence of the national Go master...
$ Tickets: No ticket is needed to enter the ancient town! The joint ticket for the paid attractions is 55 yuan/person (including a cultural and creative ice cream) (including the Ancient Brick and Tile Museum, Ding's Residence, Zhang Sheng Art Museum, Pot Culture Museum, Marot Mud Zen Workshop, Jinshi Family)
Opening hours: 8:00-17:00
🚗 Scenic Transportation: It is very convenient to drive, with many parking lots; take Kunshan Bus No. 130 and get off at Jinxi Station, then walk for 17 minutes to reach.
Kunshan's niche ancient town - Jinxi Ancient Town
When it comes to Kunshan, what everyone remembers is Zhouzhuang, right? Compared to the crowded Zhouzhuang, I prefer the tranquility of Jinxi Ancient Town. The key point is that there is no stinky tofu or grilled squid skewers. The commercialization is very low, making it very suitable for strolling and eating.
Play time: 2 hours
🎟️ Ticket information: The ancient town is free, but small attractions and boat rides inside the scenic area require tickets.
Food
Yaoji Haitang Cake: Freshly baked and sold in the shop, it tastes better when eaten hot. The radish cake made by the old lady on the right side of the Haitang Cake shop is also amazing, very delicious!
Crispy Chicken Snack Shop: Walk along the street of the ancient town, and you can see it after crossing a bridge. It is one of the few shops with long queues in the scenic area. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Be sure to tell the shop that you need chili, otherwise, they won't add it by default.
Old Street Bubble Wonton: The wontons are beautifully made, looking like a cloud when cooked, and taste delicious. The shop is very small, but there are many people in line. Many customers come from Shanghai just to eat this delicious wonton, which is perfect!
Accommodation: There are many local homestays, each with its own characteristics. We can choose according to our needs!
💗 Other tips: Environmental protection depends on everyone, we should not litter!
The sun is strong, so it is recommended to do sun protection and bring a hat!
Take care of your belongings to avoid loss!

A Jiangnan water town with a history of over two thousand years
Jinxi Ancient Town is a Jiangnan water town with a history of over two thousand years. It is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Folk Museums," preserving numerous cultural landscapes, historical sites, and countless buildings with unique Ming and Qing characteristics.

Adult Ticket🎫: 65 yuan/ticket

Jinxi Ancient Town, a thousand-year-old water town, is named after a small stream in the town that shines like a brocade belt. The town is surrounded by water, with streets and alleys along the water, and ancient bridges connected in succession... It is known for its "36 bridges and 72 kilns."
The establishment and evolution of Jinxi, with changes in the town's name, have spanned over 2500 years.

Not just Zhouzhuang, Jinxi is the last tenderness of Jiangnan!
On the shores of Dianshan Lake in the southern suburbs of Kunshan, there is a thousand-year-old water town, with a stream running through the town, peach and plum trees lining the banks, morning and evening glows spreading over the river, the whole stream shimmering like a brocade belt, hence the name Jinxi. The ancient town of Jinxi got its name from this. Although it is not far from the world-famous Zhouzhuang, it does not have the hustle and bustle of crowds and the strong commercial atmosphere. The ancient town, without any makeup, is still clear and lovely, completely restoring people's surprising impression of the Jiangnan water town.🖼️
🏞️ Stepping into Jinxi is like traveling through time and space. The stream flows gently through the town, with peach and plum trees competing for beauty on both sides, morning and evening glows, golden light shimmering, just like a flowing brocade belt! 🎨 The name Jinxi is really fitting, it truly lives up to its name!
👣 Compared to the famous Zhouzhuang next door, this place is less noisy and more peaceful and simple. Walking on the bluestone road, you can occasionally hear the boatman's sister humming a local tune, and your mood becomes melodious too~🎵
📸 Guliang Bridge, the face of Jinxi! The vermilion bridge corridor, the classical flying eaves pavilion, reflected on the calm lake surface, is so beautiful that it makes people intoxicated. Standing on the bridge, any random shot is a masterpiece, remember to bring your camera! 📷
🏛️ Chen Fei Water Tomb, a mysterious and romantic place. The water tomb lies quietly in the lake, no matter how the water level changes, it always stubbornly exposes the water surface, as if telling an ancient love story. 💑
🧘♀️ Lianchi Zen Temple, a unique temple. The temple gate faces north, which is unique among Chinese temples! Walking into the Zen temple, feeling the tranquility and peace, the soul is purified. 🙏
📚 Wenchang Pavilion, the cultural landmark of Jinxi. Facing the ancient lotus pond in the front, Yangliu Embankment in the east, and Baoge in the west, it is a symbol of Jinxi's prosperous culture. If you have students at home, you might as well come here to pray for academic success! 🎓
🍽️ Speaking of food, you can't miss the delicacies of Jinxi! Sock-bottom crisp, begonia cake, small shrimp... each one is a treat for the taste buds. Especially the small shrimp, so fresh that your eyebrows will fall off! 🦐
🏡 Tired of playing? The accommodation in Jinxi is also very characteristic. Youth hostels, big bed rooms, everything is available, the price is affordable, and the environment is comfortable. Stay here for a night and let your soul completely relax! 🛌
🔥 Finally, don't forget to experience a Jinxi sculling boat, 150 yuan per boat, shared by 6 people, slowly shuttling through the water town, feeling the unique leisure and comfort. 🚣♀️
👇 Come to Jinxi and feel the beauty that has been gently treated by time! Remember to like, follow, and comment, let's share the joy of this trip together! 💖

There are so many water towns in Jiangnan, and any one of them is beautiful
✨Located between Suzhou and Hangzhou, Huzhou has an ancient town called Nanxun, similar to Wuzhen, Tongli, and Xitang, with the same small bridges and flowing water, the same Jiangnan charm. The difference is that there are not many tourists here, so you can leisurely stroll around.
🌲The ancient town is roughly oriented from north to south, with a waterway running through the middle. There are several attractions on both sides, some of which charge an entrance fee, while others are free. The ancient town itself is free.
🏡From the southern Xiaolian Manor heading north, the Zhang Shiming Former Residence is recommended. The ancient architecture inside is exquisite and beautiful, full of Jiangnan style.
🔔Further north, there is Guanghui Palace, a Taoist temple that enshrines the Yellow Immortal, not the one from the northeast, but a local human-shaped Yellow Immortal from Jiangnan. The temple has no entrance fee and is free to enter.
⛲️Heading north along the water, then east, there are Yiyuan and Dongyuan, two adjacent gardens that are typical southern gardens, luxurious and exquisite, with a long-lasting charm.
🏠At the northernmost part of the ancient town is Baijianlou, a row of old Jiangnan-style houses along the river, offering a very typical Jiangnan ancient town scenery. It is free, and there are many restaurants and homestays along the river where you can taste local delicacies. This is my personal favorite spot to visit.
🌲Overall, the ancient town has many attractions, but I personally think that from south to north, Xiaolian Manor—Zhang Shiming Former Residence—Guanghui Palace—Yiyuan—Dongyuan—Baijianlou, these spots are the most worth visiting.
🔔By the way, I highly recommend taking a boat ride at night to tour the ancient town. In the night, sitting on a small boat swaying on the water of Jiangnan, with the lights and bustling crowds on both sides, it feels like a dream back to the Song Dynasty.
🎫The night boat ticket is 50 yuan per person, with an 8-person small boat that departs when full. The time is from 17:00 to 20:30, and the route is from Xiaolian Manor to Guanghui Bridge.
I went during the Dragon Boat Festival, and there were many people. The night boat was almost not enough, so it is recommended to buy tickets in advance.
🍽️As for food, there are many places to eat in the ancient town, including chain restaurants, specialty restaurants, and various local eateries. The local specialty silver fish scrambled eggs is recommended, it's delicious.
🌽Additionally, in the Baijianlou area, there are various private kitchens. There is a shop run by an old grandpa and grandma that makes delicious stir-fried yellow beef.

Jinxi (锦溪): the Hidden Gem
Jinxi is a historic water town in the Kunshan District of Suzhou, about 8 Km from Zhouzhuang, famous for its well-preserved ancient architecture, traditional stone bridges (36 in total), and tranquil waterways.
One of the main highlights of Jinxi is its ancient canal system, which dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BC), and the covered bridge (锦溪廊桥). Since it’s way smaller than Zhouzhuang, it doesn’t get the attention it deserves (in my opinion). This is also good because it means you’ll find fewer tourists.
You should try traditional Suzhou dishes such as “Biluochun Tea” and “Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish.”

Kunshan Jinxi: A window of beauty, all is Jiangnan
Jinxi Ancient Town is located within Kunshan City, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. It is a Jiangnan water town with a history of over two thousand years, known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Folk Museums'. It retains numerous cultural landscapes, historical sites, and countless buildings with distinctive Ming and Qing Dynasty features. The bluestone paved roads, the buildings along the river, the morning mist over the waterways, and the warm greetings among people, all preserve the most authentic taste of Jiangnan.

Compared to Zhouzhuang, I have a deeper affection for this lesser-known, free ancient town
There are really many ancient towns in Suzhou
Zhouzhuang, Shantang Street, they are all crowded with people
However, not far from Zhouzhuang
There is a very niche, free ancient town
I was attracted by chance when passing by. The town is not big, with an ancient bridge standing across the lake, and lotus flowers filling the pond in summer. This place has a history of 2000 years and is known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Folk Museums', preserving many buildings with Ming and Qing dynasty characteristics.

Jiangsu Kunshan | A leisurely stroll through Jinxi, wandering through the Jiangnan region
Kunshan is a place suitable for bringing family and friends together. I've checked it out for you, and it's worth a visit.
Dreaming of the misty waterways of Jiangnan, on the way back from Suzhou to Shanghai, I took a detour to Jinxi. In May, the ancient town of Jinxi is bathed in sunlight, and walking across the long corridor bridge, you can see the ancient Lotus Bridge complemented by willows and lotus leaves. There is a different vibe by the lake and in the old town. The brightly decorated pleasure boats, the boatwomen singing folk tunes, and the vendors casually checking their phones during their downtime all reveal a simple and homely atmosphere. Having a portion of crispy chicken, taking a few warm 'sock-bottom' pastries, I've also had a casual encounter with Jinxi.
It's also not crowded on weekends, with free admission, and you can finish strolling in less than 2 hours. It's very suitable for taking a leisurely walk and spending some time here.

May Day Travel, Dreaming of Jinxi
For May Day travel, why not visit the Jiangnan lady of your dreams? She is the Jinxi ancient town described by Shen Congwen.
🏡 Jinxi ancient town has a history of over 2000 years, named for its crystal-clear streams that shine brightly under the rosy light of dawn, as splendid as brocade.
🏘️ The town retains a plethora of Ming and Qing dynasty buildings with little commercial atmosphere, and is not lacking in historical landmarks. It's an excellent destination for a leisurely May Day retreat.
Jinxi boasts a rich water system, surrounded by five lakes, with more than thirty uniquely shaped ancient stone bridges connecting the cobblestone and bluestone paths within the town.
You can either take a one-day tour of Jinxi ancient town or enjoy a more leisurely two-day stay.
📸 Sightseeing: The landmark ancient Lotus Bridge in Jinxi is a must-visit spot, and the Chen Fei Water Tomb has intriguing historical stories. Besides, the other new and old eight scenic spots of Jinxi are also worth savoring in detail.
Accommodation: There are many homestays within the ancient town, mostly located in Jiangnan residential houses, where you can experience the slow life of living by the water, a delightful enjoyment for the holiday.
Cuisine: Spring snails and classic soy sauce meat are unique flavors of the Jiangnan water towns, while delicacies like Begonia cake and Sock-bottom crisp are also worth a try.
🏮 Dreaming of Jinxi, come enjoy a leisurely Labor Day.

Jinxi Ancient Town | A less crowded hidden gem among ancient towns
Unconsciously, I am reminded of a line from the poet Wang Bo: The setting sun and the solitary duck fly together, the autumn water shares the sky's hue.
So beautiful, take the family for a weekend outing, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
However, I feel that it will be even more beautiful when the lotus flowers bloom! If there's a chance, I'll go again when the lotus flowers are in bloom. It's still a bit chilly by the river in winter, so ladies, remember to dress warmly. If you don't take a boat, you can enter without a ticket! Be sure to pass by the post office and play postman for a day.
📍Detailed Address: Post Office, Post Office, check-in at the Post Office
🚉Travel Tips: Self-driving from Suzhou, many people from Shanghai come here for some peace and quiet!
❤Recommended Reason: Very quiet, gives a feeling of escaping the mundane , really recommended!
✅Must Experience: Rowing boat 150 yuan/boat (6 people) totaling 25 yuan/person

Where to go for the weekend? Head to Jinxi Ancient Town in the southwest corner of Kunshan City, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province
Jinxi has been famous for over two thousand years. During the Southern Song Dynasty, when the capital was established in Lin'an, Empress Chen, the favored consort of Emperor Xiaozong, fell in love with the landscapes of Jinxi and could not bear to leave. After her death, she was buried in the water here, and Jinxi was renamed to Chen's Tomb for over 800 years. After the liberation, it was once called Chengmao until 1993 when the ancient name was restored. Jinxi, with its numerous historical sites, still maintains the simple charm of a southern water town. The barely visible water tomb of Empress Chen, the melodious wind chimes of the Wenchang Ancient Pavilion, the Ten-Eyed Long Bridge where the dragon seems to lie upon the waves, as well as the nation's first Ancient Brick and Tile Museum, and more than ten small thematic museums established later based on private collections, have made Jinxi the hometown of folk museums. This tourism gem on the shore of Dianshan Lake shines even more brilliantly.

When you come to Suzhou, you must visit the Jinxi Ancient Town
After deciding to take a trip to the countryside this time, I'm looking forward to experiencing the pure Jiangnan mist and rain!
Don't go to Zhouzhuang & Tongli Ancient Towns anymore when you come to Suzhou; they are too commercialized, filled with shops everywhere, and the entrance fee is 80 RMB per person. Instead, take a stroll in Jinxi Ancient Town, where the sight of a lake full of lotuses greets you at the entrance, offering a pleasant scenery. Here, you can truly experience the small bridges over flowing water and the authentic Jiangnan misty roads🏕️
💰The scenic area entrance is free, but some attractions charge separately. You can buy boat tickets right at the entrance, with rowing boats costing 150 RMB per boat (6 people), or 25 RMB per person.
🅿️You can park your car at the parking lot at the entrance. The parking fee is very cheap, 5 yuan for the first hour, and an additional 1 yuan for each subsequent hour, with any incomplete hour counted as a full hour.

Reject the crowds and come pick this niche ancient town
A stream runs through the town,
with peach and plum trees scattered along the banks,
the morning glow and evening brilliance sprinkle across the river surface,
the stream glitters with gold, brilliant as a brocade ribbon,
hence the name 'Jinxi'...
Jinxi Ancient Town is located in the southwest of Kunshan City, Suzhou, and is a Jiangnan water town with a history of over two thousand years, known for its 'thirty-six bridges and seventy-two kilns'.
Travel Tips💡
📍Enter the town from the South Visitor Center➡️📍Stone Archway➡️📍Ancient Lotus Bridge➡️Chen Fei's Water Tomb➡️📍Lotus Pond Zen Monastery➡️📍Zhang Province Art Gallery➡️📍Jinxi Pot Museum➡️📍Ding Residence
Cross the bridge to the opposite bank➡️📍Ancient Brick and Tile Museum➡️📍Ma Ruote Clay Zen Workshop
The atmosphere of life on both sides of the river is strong, and from time to time, you can see local elders washing clothes by the river.
You can buy a joint ticket💰for 65 yuan, but of course, if you're just strolling around and not entering the small attractions, you don't need to buy a ticket.
It is recommended to stay in the ancient town for one night, as there are many choices for riverside homestays in the town. We usually book on Ctrip, which is very convenient.
Food Recommendations🍽️:
1️⃣ Sock-bottom Crisp: Made and baked on the spot, shaped like the bottom of a sock, with a fragrant, crisp taste, sweet with a hint of salt.
2️⃣ Hawthorn Cake: Chewy texture, with caramel brushed on the surface and fine red bean paste inside.
3️⃣ Ao Stove Noodles: Various toppings to choose from. Recommended explosive fish + pickled vegetable topping, the fish is crispy, and the pickled vegetables are slightly salty, a perfect combination.
4️⃣ Wan San Trotters: The meat is fresh, tender, salty, and fragrant, fatty but not greasy, and mouthwateringly delicious.
Jinxi Ancient Town is such a place that makes you want to linger:
To live in a courtyard
Flanked by old houses with courtyards
In front of the house, a gentle river flows
Across the river, more old houses with courtyards
Every morning
Greet the neighbors with a soft 'good morning'
During the day, watch children play
Pet a few cats and dogs
At night, look up at the stars
Watch the dancing lights on the river
And then, sleep soundly through the night
Summary📝If you're tired of the crowded commercialized ancient towns, then come to Jinxi! Bring a few good friends, have a drink, wander around, daydream, and space out, spending a few days as a 'leisure person'.

Jinxi Ancient Town is very Beautiful ❤️🌸

Jinxi Ancient Town: Are you really going to miss me? The scenery around Shanghai and Jinxi Ancient Town is really amazing! Seriously underestimated! It's really amazing! Very suitable for weekend strolls around! Shanghai and Suzhou will depart soon! Don't miss it! Jinxi Ancient Town is only ten kilometers away from Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, but its reputation is much smaller. There are also people using Zhigu Town, Tongli Ancient Town, Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, etc. in the surrounding area, and the competition is too fierce!
From the downtown area of Kunshan, you may even have to pass through Jinxi first and then reach Zhouzhuang. Most people may have directly gone to Zhouzhuang and ignored Jinxi. In fact, the scenery of Jinxi is also very beautiful, very impressive!! Suggest going in the evening, comparing the scenes, having small bridges and flowing water in Jiangnan, as well as a serene lake, with many small scenic spots inside. Shuiyun Jiangsu includes this scenic spot, and tickets can also be purchased separately!

China is known as the 'Hometown of Folk Museums'
You must visit Jinxi Ancient Town whenever you have the chance! This historic ancient town in the Jiangnan region is acclaimed as the 'Hometown of Folk Museums' in China. It preserves numerous cultural landscapes, historical sites, and many buildings with Ming and Qing Dynasty styles. It is an ideal destination for tourism exploration, nostalgic reminiscence, treasure hunting, leisurely relaxation, and sightseeing. It is said that: 'A small stream runs through the entire ancient town of Jinxi, with peach and plum blossoms blooming along both banks of the stream. The morning glow and the evening afterglow also spread across the entire river surface, and the goldfish in the stream joyfully leap, resembling a ribbon of brocade, hence the name 'Jinxi'.
Transportation:
Take the high-speed train from Hangzhou East to Kunshan South Station, which takes about 1h30min.
Take the Kunshan 133 bus for about 30min to 11 stops and get off at Jinxi Station.
It is recommended to drive yourself. The tour takes about three hours, and it is advised to park within 1km of the ancient town, but not in the scenic area!
