Jinhua City God Temple
Jinhua City God Temple is located at No. 90 Maluli, Jinhua City. It was built in the first year of the Zhiping period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1064 AD) and rebuilt during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The City God Temple faces south and has a courtyard-style layout with three sections: the gatehouse, the stage, and the main hall. There are 12 rooms in the left and right corridors and 11 rooms in the wing rooms. The roofs of the entire building complex are gable roofs. The beams, purlins, and brackets are exquisitely carved, especially the two dome caissons. The caisson in the gatehouse is made of more than 100 carved peony brackets spiraling to the top. It is one of the best-preserved City God Temples in Zhejiang. To promote the ancient Wuzhou culture, the Jinhua Municipal Government has restored the City God Temple, maintaining its original appearance as much as possible. The entire building is exquisitely crafted. In recent years, it has become a tourist attraction in Jinhua and a good place for locals to relax. In the middle hall of the City God Temple, there is a finely crafted statue of the City God sitting in the center of the hall. Opposite it is a unique ancient stage with a lot of round and relief carvings on the top. The carvings are exquisite and perfectly reflect the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. The wooden figures on the stage are lifelike, the animals and birds are in various postures, and the decorative patterns are elegant. The couplet on the columns on both sides of the stage reads: "Be able to speak the common language and not forget to listen, and be quick to reflect and not take it too seriously."
