Yao Water Town, a dreamlike paradise
📍Address:
Dashiqiao Township, Jianghua County, Yongzhou, Hunan Province. The village is home to well-preserved ancient dwellings, making it a must-visit for photography and ancient architecture enthusiasts.
👍️Must-know:
1. History
It is said that in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Jiang Ruxin, the ancestor of the Jiang family, settled here with his sons Jiang Zongwen and Jiang Zongyi. The village was named "Jingtouwan" because it was surrounded by wells.
2. Inscriptions
There are not many villages that have preserved their inscriptions so well. The inscriptions record that in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1830), Jiang Ruxin, a merchant from Daozhou, settled here to escape the war. The story goes that he decided to settle here because his buffalo refused to leave the well. The story is interesting, but the fact that they left behind so many ancient buildings makes visitors feel that every brick and tile is full of warmth.
3. Caves
Jingtouwan is home to caves! They are similar to the karst landforms in Guilin, formed over thousands of years of erosion by wind and rain. They are spectacular and beautiful.
