Best Things to DoNo.3 of Best Things to Do in Xuancheng
Mountain climbing
Jingting Mountain is located 5 kilometers north of the center of Xuancheng City. The main peak is 317 meters above sea level. Many literati such as Xie Zhen and Li Bai have left many poems for it, among which Li Bai's "I never get tired of looking at Jingting Mountain" is famous. Outsiders come here to follow Li Bai's footsteps; locals like to climb the mountain. The large tea gardens and bamboo forests bring fresh air, and the view from the top of the mountain overlooking the mountain is also very good. Buses stop near Jingting Mountain East Gate Square (parking lot) on Zhaoting North Road near Shuiyangjiang Avenue. Two memorial archways and a statue of Li Bai can be seen on the square. It is still 2 kilometers away from the formal climbing steps. Fortunately, the scenery along the way is worth stopping. Passing Jingting Lake beside Dongdaemun Square, 200 meters north along the smooth road, you can see the twin towers of Guangjiao Temple. The ancient temple no longer exists, leaving only a pair of slightly tilted brick towers. They are the landmarks of Jingting Mountain, built in the third year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1096 AD) https://youimg1.tripcdn.com/target/100w10000000owv9p2328_D_10000_1200.jpg?proc=autoorient " style="width: 100%;" title="" class=""> Continue to the north, there are tea gardens on the roadside, and chestnut trees can be seen. When you reach Jingting Square, you have reached the official entrance to the mountain. There are many forks on Jingting Mountain, and there are signposts at the intersections. The scenic spots are concentrated in Jingting Square-Taibai Duzuo Tower, and it takes about 30 minutes to 50 minutes to climb up. Climbing up the steps, you will first see the ancient Zhaoting Archway. The stone archway was first built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the second year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1852 AD). Its name may have something to do with the original name of Jingting Mountain, Zhaoting Mountain. Going up further, the verdant and lovely bamboo forest stands beside the mountain road. You will see Huanggu Spring (Xiangsi Spring), the statue of Princess Yuzhen and the epitaph in turn. If you are interested, you can learn about the love legend of the princess and Li Bai on the Internet in advance. After passing the Green Snow Tea House, you will encounter a fork in the road. Go left to Cuiyun Temple and go right to Taibai Duzuo Tower. The two roads will meet not far away. Generally, tourists will turn back and go down the mountain after reaching Taibai Duzuo Tower. If you continue to climb northwest for 1 hour, you can reach the main peak, Peak 1; if you climb northeast from Taibai Duzuo Tower for 1 hour, you can reach Jingfeng, which is second only to the main peak in height, and there is Wangjiang Pavilion on it. Yunqiao is close to Wangjiang Pavilion. It is a plank road paved with wooden strips. Walking on it, you can overlook Xuancheng, farmland and Shuiyang River. No matter where you climb up the mountain, when you go down the mountain, go in the direction of the east gate of Jingting Mountain and exit the Attraction from there. Jingting Mountain is not crowded with tourists on weekdays, but crowded with tourists on holidays. If you want to avoid the crowds and take a different route, it is highly recommended to visit in winter after the snow. The whole mountain is quiet. If you shout at the empty mountain, the snow on the bamboo leaves will fall down, which is quite interesting. The Guzhaoting Tea House below the Guzhaoting Square provides paid Dining. After eating, you can drink a pot of Jingting Green Snow Tea in the open-air teahouse surrounded by bamboo forests, which is very pleasant.
