Jingdezhen, the Porcelain Capital
Jingdezhen is an important node for tourism in Jiangxi, surrounded by several scenic areas such as Lushan and Wuyuan.
The city center of Jingdezhen is at People's Square, and staying around this area is most convenient. On one side is the most important Imperial Kiln Museum, the place where the most exquisite pieces are made, bustling both day and night. A bit further away are the Ceramic Museum and the Ancient Kiln Scenic Area, where the museum requires a reservation and is customarily closed on Mondays. Inside the Ancient Kiln, you can see hand-painted porcelain, which is somewhat expensive, but it truly has an artistic flair, distinct from the fashionable hand-painted styles found elsewhere.
Taoxi River is really big, seriously big. A serious stroll takes at least half a day, and there's a market on weekends. If you're looking for fine pieces, this is the place to be. I didn't go further to the ceramic factories and Sanbao Village, as those areas are more about mass production, and the porcelain is more ordinary.
CAMDEN CARLSON
Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Expo Area: Look north to the Forbidden City, and south to the ancient kiln
Here, there are lush green trees, serene bamboo forests, fragrant grass, and brimming pond waters; deep within the bamboo forest, a winding wooden bridge, on the island in the lake, calligraphy, painting, antiques, the fragrance of tea, the melody of the guqin, all found in the Purple Bamboo Academy. If it weren't for the colorful ceramic and pottery shard mosaics on the bridge piers forming water channels, one might think it's a tranquil and elegant park. Upon closer inspection, the signs, street lamps, plaques, and couplets are all fired from ceramic, which is just the prelude to entering the Ancient Kiln Expo Area.
Walking along the path, one frequently encounters porcelain patterns pieced together from broken shards, elegant and beautiful, too lovely to tread upon.
Plowing and pottery making, casually embedded in the small paths and green fields are blue and white porcelain dragon jars and large vases. Only upon seeing the majestic statue of Tong Bin does one officially enter the Ancient Kiln Expo Area, and thus enter the world of porcelain. Blue and white porcelain elements can be seen everywhere; on the ground, in the water, in front of halls, behind houses...; porcelain lamps, porcelain columns, porcelain paintings, porcelain characters, porcelain plaques, porcelain jars, porcelain vases...; even the trash bins and restrooms are all made of blue and white porcelain.
Porcelain Music Pavilion, an antique building in the middle of Lake Ming, where a group of girls dressed in ceramic-patterned clothing play one melodious tune after another, with clear flute sounds, soft xiao tones, lingering huqin melodies, deep drum beats, accompanied by the ding-dong of chime bells, and many more instruments whose names are unknown, all made of porcelain! A porcelain music feast, truly deserving of the title 'The Charm of Wondrous Porcelain' (inscribed by Qian Qichen)!
The Ancient Kiln Area includes ancient kilns from different dynasties—dragon kilns, mantou kilns, gourd kilns, town kilns, lion kilns, and imperial kilns of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The reconstructed kilns still maintain the scale and pattern of the ancient kilns, delving into them one can appreciate the wisdom of the ancients, the hardship of porcelain firing, and the cultural heritage.
In the Handicraft Workshop Area, one can watch artisans up close as they shape, refine, paint, and carve porcelain, witnessing the entire process of porcelain making beyond just kiln firing. This place gathers many inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, the real masters!
Ceramics is an art of heritage, requiring hundreds, thousands of years, a salute to those 'ordinary people' who silently pass down the art of ceramics, the culture of ceramics!

Strolling through Jingdezhen
A thousand-year-old porcelain capital, a must-visit in this lifetime! Just go when you say it!
🚉Transportation guide:
High-speed train🚄 Hangzhou Fuyang Station to Jingdezhen North, a taxi ride of about 20 minutes to the city center, Didi costs 22 yuan. Most of the scenic spots in the city can be reached by bus, except for Fuliang Porcelain Palace, Hanxi Village, and Yaoli Ancient Town, which are far away and not recommended for bus travel, too time-consuming!
City buses🚌 can get a ride card on Alipay, which makes it very convenient to travel by scanning the code, and Didi is also available!
🏨Hotel environment:
The first night stay at Lefeng Hotel (Taoxi Chuan store), right opposite Taoxi Chuan, very convenient!
The second and third nights stay at Taoyang Li Pear Garden Hotel, the hotel is located in the Taoyang Li cultural and historical district, and it is also convenient to stroll around. Fuzhou Alley, Imperial Kiln Museum, Imperial Kiln Scenic Alley (where you can check in at Zhongshuge) are all nearby. Opposite the hotel is Changjiang and Zhushan Bridge, it's nice to take a walk in the morning or evening!
If you have requirements for dining around, it is recommended to stay near People's Square and Zhejiang Road for convenience.
🍽Dining recommendations:
Ouji's big stall and Going Home for Dinner are worth recommending. Ouji's big stall recommends small yellow fish, chicken feet, crab legs, and tofu pudding! Going Home for Dinner has many branches, the Zhejiang Road store is too popular, we checked in at the Ancient Kiln store which is relatively better!
The 8 Degree Kitchen downstairs of Lefeng Hotel is also good, stir-fried beef and tofu pudding are recommended!
During the period, we also ate at some small shops, but the taste is really not as good as these!
Youtiao (fried dough sticks) and mochi, beef bone powder are recommended at Tangji Beef Bone Powder (near Taoxi Chuan)
🗓Itinerary arrangement:
Arrived in the evening on the first day, stayed at Lefeng Hotel, had dinner at Ouji's big stall, and then visited the night scene of Taoxi Chuan🌃
The next morning, checked in at Tangji Beef Bone Powder for breakfast, then strolled around Taoxi Chuan during the day, took a taxi to Sanbao Village, it is recommended to take a sightseeing car from the service center, or rent an electric car. We took a taxi to the Sanbao Village Museum, then strolled out leisurely, personally I think there is no special meaning except for taking photos and checking in. In the afternoon, checked in at the Ancient Kiln Folklore Expo Area, tickets can be purchased online, and it is still worth a visit! After coming out, take the bus two stops to Going Home for Dinner (Ancient Kiln store) for a meal, not crowded and no need to queue! (Stay at Taoyang Li Pear Garden Hotel)
The next morning, we originally planned to go to the Porcelain Palace, searched online and it was 1 hour by bus, prepared to go before departure, my son searched on his phone and said it would take 2 hours, so after comparing the two phones for a long time, I saw online comments that what I searched was the Imperial Kiln Porcelain Palace, not the Fuliang Xinping Porcelain Palace, so here is a special reminder, to navigate to the Porcelain Palace, search for Xinping Porcelain Palace! Because it was too far, we gave up on the Porcelain Palace and went to the Imperial Street Scenic Alley around the hotel, but because it was too early, there were not many people on the street, and Zhongshuge was not open yet (opens at 10 am). The surrounding area is a bit messy due to demolition and construction.
After strolling, take the bus to the Ceramic Museum, which needs to be booked in advance. When there are few people, it is recommended to book one day in advance, like during the Spring Festival and other holidays, the earlier the better, to avoid not getting a spot. The Ceramic Museum is still worth a visit, and it requires queuing to take photos with the speechless Buddha. Basically, 2 hours is enough!
After lunch, go back to the hotel to rest, and walk to the Imperial Kiln South Gate at 4 pm, the Imperial Kiln Museum needs to be booked in advance (free), but entering the Imperial Kiln Museum requires purchasing a ticket for Taoyang Li. In the evening, you can see both the daytime and nighttime views of the Imperial Kiln, worth a visit, the scenic area is not as big as imagined. After the tour, ordered stir-fried noodles and side dishes at a nearby small shop, the stir-fried noodles were good, but the side dishes were a pitfall!
Finally, I want to say that the overall feeling is okay, the impression of the city: Jingdezhen is a city with a rich cultural and historical heritage, the design of the attractions is good, but the overall construction of the city does not seem to be consistent enough, for example, we saw many old houses in the old city being demolished, shouldn't these be renovated and protected? The sanitary condition on the streets is also not satisfactory. While protecting the relics, it is necessary to plan well for the development of the city!

Beautiful environment, comfortable feeling
You can buy a package ticket on Ctrip, you can experience the ancient method of making bowls (not far from the entrance)
There are also places where you can experience pulling embryos in the ancient kiln, with a variety of choices
I wandered around the Ancient Kiln Folklore Expo Area for half a morning. If there are no other schedules, you can stay for a day, a very quiet place.
Listen to the sound of water, look at the trees, experience the slow-paced life

A must-visit in Jingdezhen - Exploring the kilns
Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln Folklore Expo Area,
Located at No. 1, Ancient Kiln Road, Panlonggang, Fengshushan, Changjiang District, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, it is the only national tourist area in the country with ceramic culture as the theme. Visit the Yuan Dynasty mantou kiln in Jingdezhen and experience ceramic culture
The Yuan Dynasty mantou kiln is one of the typical porcelain kilns used in Jingdezhen during the Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties. It is named for its kiln shape similar to a mantou (steamed bun). Some mantou kiln beds are horseshoe-shaped, so they are also called horseshoe-shaped kilns.

Roaming the porcelain capital, Jingdezhen
Jingdezhen·Jiangxi Ancient Kiln Folklore Expo Area
How can you not eat the eight big bowls when you come to Jingdezhen? How can you not drink the four special wines?
I was awakened at six o'clock to visit the kiln in the name of morning exercises, crossing the streets and alleys, and I walked into a park-like place in a daze. This ancient kiln folklore expo area is open to local residents for morning exercises from six thirty to seven thirty. The aunts are dancing square dances in front of the bronze statue of Fenghuo Xianshi Tongbin, and the red folding fans are swaying powerfully. A few old men are driven to the corner of the wall to dance the wooden sword of the Taoist immortal.
The high walls and flying eaves of Qingyuan Minglu are all green bricks and black tiles. Even if you don't go in, the halls and side rooms are already lined up in your mind. Walking into the bamboo forest, the slope gradually eases, although the breeze is blowing gently, it can't resist the sweat soaking the clothes.
Then casually passed by the Qing Dynasty town kiln, Song Dynasty dragon kiln, steamed bun kiln, gourd kiln, the wind and rain have already found no trace of ancient meaning, it is better than a rotten bowl or half a vase embedded in the mud wall nestled in the grass, the morning sun warmly shines on the ancient well.
The noon sun began to blaze, the wind on the tenth floor of the urban oasis made people drowsy, thinking about the broken porcelain pieces laid all over the porcelain capital, or gritted my teeth and came to Taoxichuan, Taoxichuan where I was the only one, walking through every street, except for a few wilted young men and women, everything was as quiet as a chimney that would no longer smoke.
In the evening, I still decided to go south, a thousand miles later is the place of strong wine and big meat, 260 miles away, I missed Longhushan, after the sunset, the night is dark, tonight I can only camp in the wilderness.
🛕Location: No. 1, Guyao Road, Cidu Avenue, Changjiang District
🚙Transportation: Accessible by self-driving and bus, convenient parking
🎫Ticket: The official price is 95, and there are discounts on the Ctrip platform
👣Tour: Qingyuan Minglu is a group of ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, consisting of four Qing Dynasty buildings such as Dafudi Yuhuatang and eight Ming Dynasty Lu Men temples and shops, as well as the temple of Fenghuo Xianshi Tongbin and the memorial hall of Lao Datang Ying of Tang Kiln
The ancient kilns of the past dynasties obviously lack ancient meaning, the Yuan Dynasty steamed bun kiln, Song Dynasty dragon kiln, Ming Dynasty gourd kiln, Qing Dynasty town kiln one by one, the small porcelain bowls and cups are unique in shape and the cup wall is oily, it is worth a close look, white as jade, bright as a mirror, thin as paper, sound as a chime is really worthy of the name
The Porcelain Sound Water Pavilion has performances every day, and the porcelain plate is also a major development of tradition as a musical instrument.
🧸Suggestion: If you enter the park before seven thirty, it is free.
Also, you might as well go to Taoxichuan, which is a cultural and creative park transformed from an old ceramic factory, and the night view is particularly exciting.

Go back in time in Jingdezhen
Klin museum in the city center is one of the main attractions in the city of Jingdezhen. It has three parts. The main area with lots of green space and has the big pagoda. The 2nd area which is very photogenic and has beautiful lighting around it. Then the last part which is like and old town and has set shops/hotel. The 2nd area needs another QR code to scan to enter the museum there. Unfortunately wasn't easy to enter as there was no English information to follow. I was told that after 8:30 pm it's free entrance and the place closes at 10:00 pm. The ticket cost 53 for adults

Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln Folklore Expo Area is divided into two parts: the historical ancient kiln exhibition area and the ceramic folk display area. Here you can see the ancient kiln from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, reappearing the style of the Jingdezhen porcelain industry in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Enjoy the unique porcelain music performance. The buildings in the scenic area are mostly renovated by old houses, allowing visitors to understand the ceramic culture of Jingdezhen in the antique.
After entering the gate of the scenic spot, all the scenic spots have porcelain road signs indicating directions. On the right hand side is the historical ancient kiln exhibition area. First of all, I saw the Fenghuo Xianshi Temple, which enshrines the guests who dedicated themselves to the kiln during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. Later generations respected him as the kiln god. Walking in is a row of workshops selling beautiful ceramics, but the price is very expensive. Further inside is the highlight of this region - the ancient kiln of each era, you can see the Qing Dynasty town kiln, Ming and Qing imperial kiln (green kiln, dragon cylinder kiln), Ming Dynasty gourd kiln, Yuan Dynasty Shantou kiln, Song Dynasty Long Kiln, spend a few dollars to drink a bowl of kiln tea, chat with the kiln master, can know the story of many porcelain and ancient kiln, tea can still refill.
The entrance to the scenic area is on the left hand side of the ceramic folk display area. The first thing to see is the Qing Dynasty architectural group Qingyuan, passing through the porcelain monument corridor, and the end is the Ming Dynasty architectural group. On the west side of the porcelain monument promenade, the porcelain sound water raft (water drama stage) can watch free porcelain music playing, and the instruments used are all made of ceramics.
In addition, in some workshops in the scenic area, you can pay to participate in ceramic production, DIY a piece of your own ceramic works.

Walking to the ticket office is a dense wooded path, and the humid air that has just rained is refreshing.
Entering the museum, there is a historical scene in front of him. He is holding a weighing clerk and a singer who is arranging the abacus. They are filled with porcelain as a container. The color is elegant and the wooden storage rack. The display is even more impressive. Seeing these objects in the exhibition, I can't help but sigh once again the people's attention.
On a beautiful and beautiful porcelain like jade, it is a flower, bird, fish and insect that is pleasing to the eye.
Jingdezhen's porcelain has blue and white, glazed red, ancient color, pastel, bucket color, new color, underglaze multicolored, blue and white exquisite, etc., especially blue and white, pastel products for the bulk, color glaze is a famous product.
The porcelains cooked here are mostly porcelain for living and porcelain for furnishings. They are made of porcelain, and are known as "white as jade, as bright as a mirror, as thin as paper, and sound as a beggar". It is said that only a little bit of the porcelain produced here will be screened and broken into pieces.
Now, what is in front of our eyes is how pure and flawless perfect.

With a magnifying glass, the hair on the monkey is clearly visible. It is so wonderful. Now! It is worthy of Master Liu Jihua! The last one is the place where the kiln is burned. The time of the kiln is about one night and night. The temperature is around 1300 °C. The person guards at the door~ I have to stare at it. The kiln people have to eat and live in it. I heard that there is power. The special porcelain made by the people is made from here. Only open once a year! The time of the kiln is about one night, the temperature is around 1300 °C

The highlight of this is that you can see the entire porcelain production process, from the embryo to the color, are some old craftsmen. You can also draw your own patterns on the bowls that are pulled, and charge them according to the size. The largest 100 bowls will be mailed after the painting is finished.
It is better to come to Jingdezhen or buy a porcelain as a souvenir.
On the left hand side of Jingdezhen, there is a post office selling postcards. The seal pattern can be given free of charge. The attitude is also very good. As a seal pattern collector, several stamps have been stuck.

When Jia Shih, the governor of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, came to the Jingdezhen Royal Factory to supervise the old solution, he vividly and vividly described the Jingdezhen porcelain industry at that time. In his "Two Opinions", he portrayed: The world is densely populated, and its people are rich and rich, and in a province, the rest of the squad is supervised and transported to its place, and the sound of the sounds of the eternal, the candlelight, the night It is not enough to sleep.
For Chinese porcelain, Jingdezhen's contribution is unique. Since the Song Dynasty, it has always represented the highest level of Chinese porcelain. When the war broke out in the late Qing Dynasty, the pottery production in Jingdezhen fell into a low tide, and many ancient kiln were abandoned. After the founding of the country, the ancient kiln of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties has been restored to the kiln after the restoration. It can be visited during the day and used to burn new porcelain at night. Shantou Kiln and Song Dynasty Long Kiln can be described as the four ancient kiln in Jingdezhen. The old artists who inherit these crafts still use the most traditional hand-made method to make China's top porcelain.
