Trip to Bangkok 🇹🇭
It was a short trip to Bangkok with family. Just to recommend some of the amazing places and restaurants that we loved 🥰
We visited The Grand Palace. It is a former royal residence, showcasing stunning architecture and the revered Emerald Buddha. The building was very beautiful and worth to visit.
📍Na Phra Lan Road, Phra Nakhon.
I would also recommend you to visit Wat Pho. It is famous for the Reclining Buddha statue and as a traditional massage school. We spent half day exploring around had a lot of street food nearby ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📍 2 Sanamchai Road, Phra Nakhon.
We also visited the famous Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). The Iconic riverside temple known for its towering spires. The central prang (tower) of Wat Arun is decorated with colorful porcelain and seashells, which create intricate patterns. We walked around slowly to admire the detailed craftsmanship and the beautiful spires.
📍158 Thanon Wang Doem, Wat Arun, Bangkok Yai
Last but not least, I would also recommend you to visit Jim Thompson House. A museum in a traditional Thai house dedicated to the American silk entrepreneur, Jim Thompson. The highlight of visiting Jim Thompson House is the guided tour. Knowledgeable guides took us through the six traditional Thai-style houses that make up the complex, explaining the history of the house, Jim Thompson's life, and the artifacts he collected. It is very worth to visit 🙌🙌🙌
📍6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan.
As for local Thai food, I would recommend you to try Jay Fai. It is Famous for its Michelin-starred street food, particularly the crab omelette 🦀
📍327 Maha Chai Road, Samran Rat, Phra Nakhon.
If you prefer a decent restaurant, you can check out the Gaggan Anand. A renowned fine dining restaurant. The food was very lovely as well as the staffs. The price was reasonable. All the dishes that we ordered were delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📍68/1 Soi Langsuan, Ploenchit Road, Lumphini.
We also visited the famous restaurant, Sorn. A two-Michelin-starred restaurant offering Southern Thai cuisine. The Tomyam soup was amazing. We all enjoyed the food 🥘 so much 💯
📍56 Sukhumvit 26, Khlong Tan.

This house Museum, is divided into a few sections, and in one area, the visitor needs a ticket and wait to enter the house. Several spots, such as the restaurant, the cafe, the garden and the silk shop are free for public.
One of the amazing I seen and my favourite is the garden landscape. Absolutely stunning and beautiful.

Jim Thompson House Museum. It is one of the main attractions around Bangkok, and definitely one of the most popular. The reason for this is that it is just so different to anything else you will do in the Thai Capital. It is steeped in the history of Bangkok, and surrounded by an awe and mystery that you will not find anywhere else.
The Jim Thompson House is large and very beautiful. It is built in, and displays the traditional Thai Style.
Highly recommend to visit for me i use the metro as it is very close, with the National Stadium BTS Station only a few hundred meters walk from the Jim Thompson House Museum.

Must See Museum by Jim Thompson
When we first landed to Bangkok Thailand, our first stop was to go Jim Thompson Museum. It was an exploratory trip as we learned how authentic premium silk clothes (like dresses, shirts, pants, etc.) were made. It took us close to an hour to finish the whole tour. There are even raw materials of silk present around the museum so you can better visualize the whole process. If you’re looking a souvenir, they also have them in the gift shop store. Don’t be surprised as the prices here. an range up to 50,000 Baht given the premium quality of the cloth. We almost bought a dress here for a friend. Yes, that’s how good the quality is. #museumquest

Jim Thompson House
I adore the house, garden and various artworks around the museum. The guide tour itself feels clearly geared towards the white tourists. I guess it’s a general feel-good story about a Caucasian business man went to Asian, got fascinated by the culture, loved by the natives, and most of all, saw a great business opportunity. The tour did show how Jim and his partners embraced Thai traditions and how he was undeniably a crucial factor in the flourish of the nation’s silk industry, but the narration feels a bit monotone as it doesn’t take the Thai people into the picture and more about how tasteful Jim is. Besides, in each room there are screens that show art performance of another contemporary artist, which I feel kinda out of nowhere and don’t really fit the atmosphere.

Jim Thompson, a practical American architect, bought a home in Thailand after the end of World War II and successfully promoted the Thai silk industry. After the strange disappearance in Malaysia in 1967, the Thai garden in Bangkok was left, and today there is the Jim Thompson Museum. The Jim Thompson House is situated on the banks of the Saen Saeb Canal. This exquisite pink building is made of teak. The small building is surrounded by a green tree, and the window is sunny and the flowers are fragrant. The combination of traditional Thai architecture and fresh rural scenery highlights the unique charm of the combination of Chinese and Western. The second floor is a collection of decorative wall hangings from Jim Thompson from different Buddhist temples. Just like ancient murals. These wall hangings tell the Buddha's past and present life, as well as the spiritual journey of his meditation.

Just as there is always a virtuous woman behind all successful men, there is a great architect behind all the great buildings. The Jim Thompson House is a typical Thai private villa left over by Thompson and has been around for two centuries. It has the most famous Thai silk store in Thailand. It is also a Thai silk museum, and there are various artworks, such as home decorations and ceramics. Visiting the entire former residence, the design of various courtyards, the arrangement of furniture will give you a sense of feeling, an architect has a culture and taste, in order to make life into an art!

A Journey to the Jim Thompson House: Time Stands Still Among Silks
Walking through the bustling streets of Bangkok, I stepped into the Jim Thompson House and was instantly captivated by this wooden house hidden among tropical vegetation. Its architecture retains traditional Thai style while incorporating the refined layout of Western art, with each piece of redwood exuding an ancient luster.
The exhibits inside the museum are like a parade of silk. The Thai handmade silk collected by Thompson throughout his life is vibrant in color and delicate in texture, as if telling each segment of distant history. In the tranquil courtyard, the pool reflects the blue sky and greenery, accompanied by the sound of birds chirping in the breeze, making one imagine Thompson's life here. His collection is not just about objects but a dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures, showcasing his unique vision and passion.
This visit made me rethink the value of traditional crafts and deeply fascinated me with the story of the mysterious 'Father of Thai Silk.' In this lush garden, I felt as if time stood still, leaving endless aftertaste and reflection.

The Jim Thompson House Museum in Bangkok is amazing!
📍Located in downtown Bangkok (near Central World), it's easy to find. There are many green plants inside, and the buildings are in traditional Thai style, which is very charming.
🎁There are silk products, Buddha statues, and handicrafts collected by Thompson, full of Thai culture.
📷Great for photos, both the exhibition hall and the courtyard are photogenic. The ticket price is reasonable, and there is an explanation.
