It's actua
It's actually not a challenging trail, but very strenuous with long, non-stop stone stairs. There are few gazebos for rest. We hiked near sunset and it was heavily fogged. The end of the stairs was nowhere to be seen and the view was covered by thick fog... it felt surreal! Spare 1.5-2 hrs for return trip, depending on your fitness level.
The trailhead is near the bus stop heading back to Ruifang. From the Old Street entrance, climbed up until you see the bus stop heading down. The trail head is just a little bit further up.
No proper hiking gear is required, depending on your fitness level. I had some height anxiety and tired legs, so I relied on my hiking sticks and hiking boots. But other people were just fine with normal shoes -- someone even carried his child and climbed up! If you're planning to view sunset, the trail can be really dark, although I saw some teenagers still climbed up with phone's torch. Climbing on foggy day is ok, but not recommended on a wet day.
