A Buddhist temple in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, northern China.
One of the four major temples in the Northeastern Provinces, it is a Buddhist temple that survived the Cultural Revolution along with St. Sophia Cathedral.
It is located at the entrance of Dongdaji Street in Nangang District, Harbin City. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1924, making it the largest modern Buddhist temple in Heilongjiang Province! It is one of the four major Buddhist temples in the three provinces of Northeastern China (Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang).
Within the temple grounds, there are mountain gates, bell towers, Cheonwangjeon, Daeungbojeon, Samseongjeon, Dongseobaejeon, large Buddhist statues, sarira pagodas, and multi-story pagodas of various shapes. The design, layout, and architectural structure well reflect the traditions and characteristics of Chinese temple architecture.
Every year on the 8th, 18th, and 28th days of the 4th lunar month, a grand Buddhist ceremony is held, and many outsiders visit to offer Buddhist prayers or tour the temple.
When I visited Geukraksa Temple, there were many tourists and locals.
That shows how popular it is.
I walked around, burning incense and greeting people.
There was a statue of a boy monk that reminded me of the saying, “cover your eyes, cover your mouth, cover your ears.”
I guess that means your words and actions are that important.
I took a commemorative photo while reflecting on it once again. It seemed to mean, "You haven't seen it, but don't move your words around carelessly, don't spit it out carelessly, don't be a follower of others' words, and live centered."
I made a resolution to live well in this chaotic world these days.
