The garden was an important venue for Cao Xueqin's grandfather, Cao Yin, to socialize with literati, scholars, and friends for reciting poetry and composing verses. Cao Yin was proficient in opera, and Emperor Kangxi watched performances by the Cao family opera troupe in the Cao Mansion Opera Garden inside the Jiangning Weaving during his southern tours. The Xuanrui Hall is located in the very center of the entire building, with its plaque inscribed by Emperor Kangxi. The architecture of the Jiangning Weaving Museum is reconstructed according to historical records, including the West Pond, Lian Pavilion, Xuanrui Hall, and West Hall of the original Weaving Bureau. Looking from south to north, the buildings rise in layers, resembling a Jiangnan landscape painting, with many design details referencing the description of the Grand View Garden in 'Dream of the Red Chamber'.
