Jiangcun, literally the "river hamlet" in Chinese, is located in the township if Baidi, Jingde County. It is also known by another name - the Jingao Village, literally meaning "the village of the legendary golden sea turtle". The village was built some time from the late Sui Dynasty into the early years of the Tang Dynasty, thus making it a historic village with over a thousand years of history. Quite a few sites of Hui-style architecture, dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, can also be found inside the village, such as the Pugong Shrine, the Shrine of the Dutiful Son, and the Father and Son Scholar Memorial. The village has also produced many great people throughout the ages, including the great medical scientist Jiang Xishun, the Imperial Academy editor Jiang Zhiyi and the mathematician Jiang Zehan.
