One of the highlights of this visit was the uniquely delightful experience of enjoying an afternoon tea set up as a camping activity right by the river.
The journey to 甲根坝 was as peaceful as it was scenic, winding through verdant landscapes that promised adventure and tranquility. Upon arrival, the vast expanse of green, coupled with the gently flowing river, set the perfect stage for a relaxing afternoon. The setup for our afternoon tea was thoughtfully arranged on the grassy banks, with comfortable seating and a low table laden with a variety of teas and local snacks.
The tranquility of the location was enhanced by the soft sounds of the river’s flow and the gentle rustle of the grass in the breeze. As we sipped on aromatic teas, we enjoyed an assortment of local treats that included both sweet and savory options, each complementing the serene environment. The simplicity of the setup, combined with the natural beauty surrounding us, created a feeling of being at one with nature.
The grasslands around us were vibrant and alive, stretching out under the vast sky. After tea, we took the opportunity to explore the area, walking along the riverbank and through the fields. The peaceful environment was occasionally punctuated by the distant sounds of local wildlife, adding to the sense of being in a remote and untouched part of the world.

The autumn scenery in Riche Village is beautiful. We went to the popular shop Song Dun Ni Ji, which costs 50 yuan per person. The garden is very small, the sheets are drying outside, there are many people and noisy, messy, really not recommended. In fact, there are many small and popular places for photography and camping near the homestay. Every place is very out of the picture.
Continue from Song Dun Ni Ji, you will see the cement road connected to the dirt road at the end. Enter "Nida Ka Ranch" from here, 20 yuan per car. There is a dirt road of about 4 kilometers along the creek, and the car can drive 2 kilometers. When we went there on the weekend, there were no tourists inside. Camping is available along the creek and grass slope, the scenery is beautiful, highly recommended, full of surprises!
There is a lawn outside the couple tree homestay in Jiagenba Township, and you can camp on the lawn for free if you live here. Enjoy afternoon tea with small yaks and kittens. The few plateau apple trees next to it are full of red apples, which can be picked for free, super sweet!
When you come to western Sichuan to shoot autumn scenery, remember to bring a telephoto! In the evening before sunset, the mother drove the yak home. Encountering a group of yaks on the road, and the poplar trees by the stream like oil paintings, every moment makes people happy.

Western Sichuan Travel | Riyonggang, where the princess plays in the dam
Nestled in the mountain valley and neighboring nature, Riyonggang is located in Xiaba Township, Kangding City, Ganzi Prefecture, covering nearly 400 acres of a large dam-playing camping site. 🍃Songdun Niji
This is a homestay in Jiagenba, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views. You can also enjoy afternoon tea by the stream. The yard has a small wooden bridge and pine trees🌲, with cows and sheep grazing nearby, which is super healing.
🏔Sky Snow Mountain
Navigate to 'Xueyin Pavilion' and turn right to go up the mountain. A 7-kilometer, roughly 20-minute mountain drive will reveal the beauty of Xinjiang! A vast forest of fir trees, and the Gongga Snow Mountain! Absolutely breathtaking!
Only off-road vehicles can go up, or you can take a local's car for a reasonable fee. The mountain is also great for hiking, with a 4.5km distance from the parking lot to the mountain top.
🍃Rize Village
This village is truly too beautiful! Along the stream, there are meadows, forests, and gesang flowers, with small wooden bridges at intervals. It must be even more beautiful in autumn!
🏔Eyi Village
A small village under the snow mountain, with the Lamu Snow Mountain above the Tibetan houses. Navigate to Eyi Village, located at the foot of Gedelamu Mountain. The houses under the snow mountain are too romantic.
🍃Jiagenba Town
A 40-minute self-drive from Xinduqiao to Jiagenba, the route is lined with meadows, forests, and streams. The green barley on both sides has turned yellow, and there are many cows and sheep along the road. Many people camp by the stream without any fees.

The temperature difference between morning and evening in Western Sichuan is quite large recently, especially in the snow mountain villages. The temperature in Xinduqiao is about 10 degrees lower than in Kangding. I specifically wore a Columbia series jacket, which has a detachable design, especially suitable for my journey from town to the outdoors. Particularly, its strap design allows me to carry it on my back when I feel hot during the hike, convenient and lightweight. The jacket also has hook designs for hanging items like water bottles and sunglasses, freeing up my hands. The hat is also detachable.
The professional waterproof fabric is not afraid of morning mist or a sudden light rain, keeping you dry. The golden dots on the inner lining can reflect body heat, keeping you warm while still being breathable!

Departing from Chengdu, it takes 5.5 hours by car, passing through Kangding, over Zheduo Mountain, passing Yaha Pass, Tagong Grassland, to reach Jiagenba.
Western Sichuan is famous for Xinduqiao, which is known as 'a paradise for photographers📸', and Jiagenba is a 40min drive from Xinduqiao.
The most beautiful scenery in Western Sichuan is on the road:
At Yaha Pass, when the sunlight illuminates the distant snow-capped mountains, they look like ice cream on top of a milk tea cup, dazzlingly white.
On Tagong Grassland, you might occasionally encounter herds of cattle and sheep, grazing in an orderly manner, with wooden Tibetan-style houses and fluttering Tibetan flags. When the mountain flowers bloom, it's as colorful as an oil painting.

Stir-fried mushrooms with bacon, stir-fried wild boletus, stir-fried shredded potatoes. During the tourist season, it's crowded, but the taste is really good. We ate there twice in two days.

On the way back to Chengdu, take a stroll through the Kangding Food Market. You'll return fully loaded with various sizes of red apples, Kangding Ganzi beef and mutton, yak yogurt... There are so many local products you'll want to buy and take home.

Navigate to Se'erkaka Village from Xinduqiao. When you're almost there, you'll pass through a village. It's about a 30-minute drive.
Jiagenba
The Oser Flower Sea, a fairy-tale paradise.
Kangding Airport Road
Both Highway 434 and 318 can get you there. It's recommended to park your car on the open plateau in front. This road is super beautiful, and you can see Mount Gongga all the way. The best photography spot is at the low position on Rainbow Road.
Siding Lake
At an altitude of 4200, it's recommended to take National Highway 434.
You can drive directly to the foot of the snowy mountain. The photography spot is at the low position opposite the lake. It feels like you're standing right under Mount Gongga. There's a 10 yuan cleaning fee.
Gunong Village
Also a snowy mountain stream that can be reached by car🚗. You can see the full view of Yala Snow Mountain, with cattle and sheep all around, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. This is a stunning spot to view Yala Snow Mountain.
Yala Snow Mountain Scenic Area
My favorite snowy mountain!
Very few people go to Yala. I've been there three times and it was almost deserted each time. This place is super close to the snowy mountain, with beautiful streams, and you can camp here. Waiting for the sunset on the golden mountain here is super romantic.
Siye Yala
Near Se'erkaka Village, there are also streams and meadows, and you can see Yala Snow Mountain up close. Compared to Gunong Village, it's basically deserted, and camping is free.
Balang Shengdu
The altitude is 4300. This place is very close to Yala Snow Mountain, and you can also see the full view of Mount Gongga. It's more off the beaten path than Yuzixi, with very few people. You can see both Gongga and Yala, about 20 kilometers in front of Gunong Village.
Yala Snow Mountain Camping Base
Streams, meadows, and a day under the snowy mountain - it's too romantic.
Gaersi Mountain Heishi City
At an altitude of 4300, when I first saw the full view of Mount Gongga, I was stunned. This was the closest I've ever been to Gongga! Heishi City is a must-visit in this lifetime. You need a car with strong off-road capabilities.

1. The temperature on the plateau is low, with large temperature differences. Even in summer, you need to bring a thick down jacket.
