Ji Yun Yao: A B&B located in a century-old village. It takes about an hour to drive from downtown Guangzhou.
Facilities: The hotel has good facilities. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there are children's facilities and a swimming pool.
Environment: The hotel is on a mountain top with beautiful natural scenery. There are rice fields for taking photos. Sitting in the room or at the front desk is very relaxing. It's a great place to unwind. The hotel is also well sanitized, and there are not many mosquitoes in the room.
Service: The environment is unique, but the service is average. We ordered a bottle of wine for dinner, but we were told there were no ice buckets left. They brought us a plastic bucket from the kitchen. We took the unfinished wine back to our room and asked for an ice bucket, but we were told there were no ice buckets left. They gave us a bag of ice in a plastic bag and told us to make do. The restaurant staff were very casual, but maybe that's just the local style.
Room: The room is spacious with a private bathroom, shower, and bathtub, as well as a small courtyard. The room is well equipped with an air purifier and a water dispenser. The breakfast is great, with both Chinese and Western options. Everything is freshly made. The fries are delicious. It's better than a buffet and less wasteful. There is a terrace, a children's play area, and a "creative house" where you can paint, play chess, and more.
The country roads are great for walking, and there is a large swimming pool. It's a great place for team building, couples, and families.

This is a homestay that combines camping, accommodation, and entertainment. Nearby is the Shimen National Forest Park, a national 4A scenic spot, which is perfect for office workers who want a short vacation on weekends. A treasure homestay just one hour from Guangzhou! Suitable for couples, families, and friends for a weekend trip. The staff at the homestay are super nice and will help you take photos!
The temperature difference between day and night is large in the mountains, so it is recommended to prepare long-sleeved shirts and pants. The homestay also has a Southeast Asian-style infinity pool, so you can bring your swimsuit and swim. It happened to rain the day I went, so I didn't go into the water.
The homestay has a kitchen, and there are also farmhouses nearby. The owner of the homestay is very nice and can help you call the farmhouse to deliver food to your door, so you can enjoy hot meals without leaving the homestay.
The room looks like a tent, but the facilities inside are very simple. The five-star custom mattress and smart toilet are standard, which I have not seen in homestays of the same price. In addition, there are camping tables and chairs in the room, so you can stargaze and watch the clouds in the room. It is very suitable for people like me who want to stay in the mountains and relax on weekends.
The homestay is located halfway up the mountain, so it is recommended to drive. It takes about an hour from downtown Guangzhou.

How to choose between a homestay and a hotel?
Homestays and hotels, how would you choose?
Has the concept of homestays deviated from its original meaning? The original idea of a homestay was for the homeowner to renovate their house and manage it themselves, giving travelers a sense of quaint charm. But now, many places labeled as homestays are priced the same as, or even more expensive than, well-equipped hotels.
Why then do so many people still choose homestays?
It's because many people nowadays seek a high-quality, low-density vacation style, pursuing a unique living experience.
Take, for example, my stay at Conghua Jiyunyao (my second visit, you can check out my notes from the first stay), where the regular price is 1288. At this price point, one could actually stay at a very nice five-star resort hotel.
But this place allows me to truly return to my roots, to gaze upon the fields and lychee forests, and to quietly reflect on my 17 years of working since entering society, and the growth I've experienced along the way. The sounds of nature penetrate my soul, and the fresh air cleanses my thoughts.
So, everyone has different pursuits. For instance, in family travel, some parents prefer to take their children to places like Xile Valley or Forest Sea, resorts with abundant recreational facilities. Other parents like to bring their children back to nature, to explore the countryside. Neither is wrong; both are ways to broaden their children's horizons.
