UNESCO YELLOW
Breathtaking sight of this UNESCO heritage list rice field in Bali. With irrigation systems dating back to centuries ago, every plot of land no matter how high or low they are on the mountain receive the same amount of water to grow their crops. What you can expect here is the tranquility of a simple farmers life, with cafes and warung to relax and enjoy your meal beside the glorious view. There's a public toilet and ammenities, best to arrive by car.

You will never find more beautiful rice fields and terraces in huge numbers anywhere else in the world than what you will find here at Jatiulwih. You will be mesmerized to see so many different shades of green fields and terraces, truly very spectacular. I would highly recommend anybody visiting Bali to include this place in the itinerary.

Bali treasure terraces! Super large, few people, photo beauty
go to Bali In addition to watching the sea, there is also a must-have card is to go to the central part of Bali to see the terraces.
The most frequently used terraces are the Degralang terraces in the city of Ubud. However, because I saw a lot of tourists here and it was really small, I found another terraced area.
Today, share this one of Bali's largest terraces for everyone.
Terrace name: Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, rice terraces means rice fields, "Jatiluwih" is the name of this rice field.
Location: This paddy field is far from the urban area of Ubud and can be reached from Ubud to the north for about one and a half hours.
pulled out the crowded Ubud area, the road is surrounded by people's rice fields, there are not many cars on the road, all the way to really have the feeling of walking through nature.
Transportation: There is no public transportation, you can only choose to charter a car. There are more than 200 cases in Bali, and there are more than 300 in the super zone. It is also very cost-effective.
Functions:
1/Jatiluwih is one of the largest terraces in Bali. The car is here, you can't see the end, and all the places are large terraces. Looking at it is really refreshing.
2/ This rice field is to receive tickets, one person 60k Indonesian rupiah, equivalent to about 30 yuan. The car can be driven in and no other fees will be charged.
3/The terrace has multiple viewing points and entry points. If there is plenty of time, you can go a few more places. If the time is tight, choose one that you think is the most beautiful and walk around.
4/ This rice field is really a coexistence of the big scene and the small scene. The distance is vast, and the near-seeking is nowhere to have a delicate little view. It is worth spending half a day exploring.
5/ There is a place to eat in the scenic area, but it is very expensive to see the meal here in the Raiders, so we did not choose to eat, but to eat at the small shop on the way to go.
On the way to the scenic spot, you can pay more attention to the place where you can eat on the roadside. There are many restaurants with terraced landscapes. It is really superb to enjoy the scenery while eating.
6/ If you want to take photos in the field, remember to keep your feet safe. In some places, the wet mud will be very slippery.
7/Here, because the scenic spot is really too big, the tourists are very scattered, so it is very easy to take pictures of no one, and there are really too few tourists here. There are no group visitors, all of them are Europeans and Americans in twos and threes. Not crowded and not on the road, the play experience is very good.

Great place, so serene, peaceful and green. The hiking trails are well prepared. Take at least the orange route, if you have time then the white - it's not all the same same, you will see different things. The times are well exaggerated on the plan, although it depends on how fast you walk and how many times you stop for pictures :-). The white route is 5.5km but a bit of up and down, and it IS hot. You can get a coconut on the way (20k IRP), great if you're thirsty. The entrance to the area is I think 50k, parking costs too. The rice fields are beautiful, though, highly recommended.

Bali's ultra-obscure terraced landscape, the stunning Tyndall effect
Many people come to Bali and miss the scenery hidden in the jungle, which is Ubud. In Ubud, the terraced landscape is the livelihood of the locals, the traditional culture reflects their life, and this tree with more than 700 years of age bears witness to their faith.
I like Ubud, it gives more meaning to coming to Bali than just a holiday. Leisure, religion, scenery, culture, primitive, mystery... A variety of unrelated and unequal vocabulary are mixed together here.
After this slow travel in Indonesia, Ubud has directly become one of my favorite places. Its situation is complicated, the European and American tourists on the streets are almost more than the natives, yet it still maintains a feeling that won't let you forget you are in Southeast Asia.
Hmm, I will go again next time.
Ubud worth visiting spots:
📍tegalalang rice terrace
📍 jatiluwih rice terrace
📍Ubud Palace
📍nungnung waterfall
📍campuhan ridge walk
📍Ubud citywalk
📍bayan ancient tree
Ubud's terraces are very famous, among which tegalalang is the shooting location for the music video of 'Rice Fragrance', but I personally recommend jatiluwih more, this terrace is more niche, larger, and you can see the distant volcano. It is recommended to shoot at sunrise, around 5-6 in the morning, to capture the stunning Tyndall light.

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

I visited Jatiluwih Rice Terraces on a sunny day in October and I was amazed by the beauty and tranquility of this place. The rice fields are spread over the hills and valleys, creating a stunning green landscape that contrasts with the blue sky and the white clouds. The rice terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and they showcase the traditional Balinese irrigation system called Subak, which has been used for centuries to cultivate rice in harmony with nature. I learned a lot about the history and culture of Jatiluwih from the friendly local guides who explained the different stages of rice farming and the rituals associated with it. I also enjoyed walking along the paved paths that wind through the rice fields, offering different views and perspectives of this natural wonder. There are several cafes and restaurants near the entrance where you can enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing drink while admiring the scenery. Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are definitely one of the best attractions in Bali and I highly recommend visiting them if you want to experience the authentic and peaceful side of the island.
Depending on the date you visit, the landscape changes a lot, I was unlucky to visit it when all the rice from all the fields had been harvested. Even so, I loved the place, there are several very well-defined itineraries to walk through the different cultivation terraces depending on the time one has.
It was a rewarding walk, and helped me understand a little more about how rice cultivation works

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
#thingstodo
Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is one of many rice terraces in the Bali region of Indonesia.
However, the Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is one of the largest and most scenic in all Indonesia. This Rice Terrace has been awarded the UNESCO World Cultural Landscape designation because the rice terraces are an important part of Indonesian culture, and Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is a prime example. The Terraces were built on hillsides that offers stunning scenery of the very green fields of rice and of the very lush landscape surrounding this area. There are some nice hiking trails that run through the rice fields where you can actually walk through and see how tall the rice fields can grow and you can see for yourself how large this rice terrace actually is and to see the wonderful scenery at this location. This Rice Terrace is very photogenic and well worth the visit.
The Jatiluwih rice terraces in north Bali are an oasis of beautiful greenery, peace, and countryside serenity. Yes, there are tourists, but unlike the hoards that descend on the rice terraces in Ubud to go on the swings and nests for Instagram likes, in Jatiluwih there is enough space for people to walk and bike while surrounded by the lush terrace fields and no gimmicky distractions.
A very nice place indeed!

Bali's Enchanted Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
#2024wish
Embarking on my exploration of Jatiluwih Rice Terraces near Mount Batukaru in Bali was a journey into a captivating landscape spanning over 19,500 hectares. This living tribute to Bali's cultural heritage, recognized by UNESCO, showcases the sustainable irrigation practices ingrained in the Subak system.
On my way up the mountains, it was cold and breezy. However, when I reached the Jatiluwih Rice Terrace around 10am, it was the perfect weather; bright sun with a lovely breeze.
As I strolled through the expansive rice fields, the vibrant green hues and the invigorating mountain air created a truly enchanting atmosphere. Opting for the longer walking circuits, I discovered hidden corners and picturesque spots, with well-placed drink stops offering moments of rejuvenation.
An entry fee of 40k IDR for adults and 2k IDR for scooter arrivals helps in contributing to the support of local farmers. This consideration added a meaningful layer to my experience.
Despite occasional comparisons with Tegalalang rice terraces, Jatiluwih held its own allure, providing a unique opportunity to witness the captivating beauty of Bali's rice fields
The UNESCO designation in 2012 aligns with the cultural significance of the Subak system, drawing over 200,000 annual tourists like myself and showcasing Bali's rich agricultural traditions.
For someone seeking an off-the-beaten-path Balinese encounter, away from crowded tourist spots, the journey to Jatiluwih promised moments of tranquillity amidst the serene Balinese life.
Navigating the well-prepared hiking trails, I opted for the orange route, savouring the diverse scenery. In essence, my time at Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, a UNESCO Heritage site, was a deeply personal and authentic journey. Despite minor comparisons, its unique charm, stunning landscapes, and cultural significance through the Subak system make it an indispensable stop for anyone exploring Bali's rich tapestry of natural and cultural wonders.
I would wish to go London to visit their historic and
culture sites. I love their architecture and gardens.

As must! It is unreal. Word heritage site and very peaceful. We did about 2 hours trekking, mostly flat ground. Quite muddy after the rain. You can rent bicycles too (if it’s sunny)! Entrance fee is about $2-3 pp. there are coffee shops and stuff too if you just want to take in the view without the walking.
