All about 🇯🇵:
- 🍣🍤🍥🍜 ➡️ For your food budget, you can have a decent meal for 900 yen or 415 pesos per meal. And they have big servings too so you won't be hungry that easily.
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Their trains/subways are efficient and they are the cheapest mode of transportation when you want to go around Tokyo
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Narita Express train to and from the airport is a must so you don't have to transfer to other train lines while you are carrying your luggages. It has less stops, goes directly to the airport and is always on time so you don't have to worry about being late for your flight! You'll get a discount if you'll buy their round trip ticket
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Purchase Welcome Suica Card and just reload for train/subway rides. If your phone has NFC, download the app Suikakeibo. Just tap the card at the back of your phone and the history of your card usage and the current balance will be shown in the app. It's super handy, you don't have to check your balance in the card machines. You'll know right away if you need to reload your card
- 🗺️ ➡️ Use Google maps for directions. It has live train schedules. It will also tell you which train station you need to ride, the line you need to transfer to and the exit you need to take
- 💹 ➡️ For your pocket money. I recommend you get your Yen in PH before going to Japan. They don't have many money changers there. Unlike HK or South Korea. You will usually go to banks or withdraw in atms to get Yen which is not safe. I suggest to plan and estimate your budget per day so you'd know how much Peso you'll convert to Yen. And also have some extra cash budget in case of emergency.
- 👫Japanese people are generally respectful and honest so it's safe for solo travelers
- 🌳🌸 Despite of the modern city, they have gardens where the people really go to and gather and have picnic
- 💱 Check if the store you are in has a tax free counter. It will definitely save you cash because it will slash the 10% tax off of your purchase
- 💳 Some shops also have additional 5% discount for Visa card holders
- 💼 In the airport check-in counter, they strictly follow the baggage allowance in your ticket. So be mindful of that before you shop 'til you drop in Japan. If you plan on shopping there I suggest you purchase additional baggage allowance for your return flight because it's cheaper than paying for excess baggage
You can tweak the itinerary based on your likes and interests. Check also the opening/closing hours of the attractions, parks and restaurants in advance so you won't waste your time going to places that are closed.
