Mountain climbing

Yaowang Mountain, called in Tibetan: Jiabo Mountain, means: Mountain of the Corner. Located on the southwest side of the Potala Palace, with an altitude of 3725 meters, it is close to the Red Mountain where the Potala Palace is located, and there is Beijing Road passing through between the two mountains. There is a viewing platform halfway up the mountain, which is one of the best places to shoot the Potala Palace, and it is also the place where the pattern on the back of the 50 yuan coin was shot. Every morning, there are always photographers waiting here to capture the first rays of sunshine in the Potala Palace. There is a cave-like temple on the east side of Yaowang Mountain on the cliff of Yaowang Mountain, which is called: Charalup. According to legend, the cliff on the top of it is the place where Princess Wencheng worships to the east when she misses her hometown. The caves were excavated in the Songtsan Gampo era and are still well preserved. The grotto is an irregular rectangle. There are 69 stone statues on the rock wall, and stone statues are arranged on both sides of the corridor. On the north stone wall, there are statues of Songtsan Gampo, Wencheng and Chizun, two princesses and ministers. The light in the cave is dim, and it is all illuminated by butter lamps.
