Step into a World of Fluffy Cuteness featuring Ghibli at the Izu Teddy Bear Museum
Tucked away in the charming town of Izukogen, the Izu Teddy Bear Museum is pure nostalgia and magic wrapped into one. Whether you’re a collector, a curious traveler, or just someone who loves a good dose of cuteness, this place will warm your heart.
The museum showcases an enchanting collection of teddy bears from all over the world — from antique teddies that date back over a century to limited edition collector’s items. But the real showstopper? The special Totoro exhibition on the second floor. Giant plush Totoro, Catbus, and whimsical Ghibli movie scenes reproduced with plush dolls make it a must-see, especially if you’re traveling with kids or are a Ghibli fan yourself.
There is also a teddy bear workshop but they sell out fast, so definitely reserve online in advance! There are Ghibli workshop options too!
The museum also has a quaint café with teddy bear-themed desserts and a gift shop that’s dangerously tempting. I may or may not have left with more than one plush souvenir…
