Ito Drive
From Atami, head south along the coastline to Ito City, which faces Sagami Bay on the Izu Peninsula.
This area has a particularly large number of hot springs, even among Shizuoka Prefecture, which has many famous hot springs. Many coastlines have unique landscapes due to the influence of volcanoes, and some areas are designated as Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Along the way, there was a point where Hatsushima Island was quite clearly visible.
Along the road, there are also Ito Komuro cherry trees, which were recognized as a new species in 2001. If you visit in early to mid-February, you can enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms.
The travel station (Izu Granpal Park), marked by a giant cactus, is also famous for its illuminations and giant maze.
The admission fee to Izu Granpal Park is 1,600 yen for adults (junior high school students and above), 1,000 yen for elementary school students, and 500 yen for children aged 4 and above. Please note that there is a separate fee for day and night shifts.
