Historic buildings
Shishan Temple is the 13th temple of the thirty-three Guanyin shrines in the Western Kingdom. In the vast temple, there stands wollastonite, a natural monument from which the temple name originated. The main hall and the many pagodas, as well as many items such as scriptures, sacred books, Buddha statues, and picture scrolls, are designated as national treasures and important cultural properties of Japan. The representative classic Japanese literature "The Tale of Genji" is said to have been conceived by Murasaki Shikibu who visited Ishiyama-ji Temple when he saw the reflection of the fifteenth full moon on Lake Biwa. As a landscape that shows the mysterious power of Lake Biwa and its water, it lives among people as a form of water and life culture.

[Shiga] Take a stroll around Ishiyama-dera Temple
Ishiyama-dera Temple in Shiga Prefecture is the 13th temple of the 33 Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage and is certified as a Japanese Heritage Site as a constituent cultural asset.
The temple grounds are so large that it is impossible to see everything in one day.
As the mountain entrance fee says, you will have to climb the mountain to see everything, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
There are many other things to see, such as the bronze statue of Murasaki Shikibu, the natural monument of wollastonite, and national treasures!
