Again in Nanjing, spend a weekend with my bestie to feel the romance of early summer in Jinling~ I often see various popular photo spots of Zifeng Tower, so this time I chose to stay at the InterContinental! The hotel is located in the 450-meter-high Zifeng Tower, where you can see this landmark from many places🏠 The location is very advantageous, with the subway station right outside the door🚇 It's close to Xuanwu Lake Park, Jiming Temple, the food street, Xinjiekou, and Yihe Road Take a leisurely walk and enjoy the slow life~👭 This time I stayed in the Executive Deluxe Lake View Room on the 71st floor🛏️ From there, you can overlook the Xuanwu Lake and the rolling Zijin Mountain⛰️ Looking down, you see the bustling city; looking up, you see the era🏢 With the view of Nanjing city at your feet, standing by the window gives you a feeling of commanding the world The room thoughtfully provides welcome fruit🍎 The coffee is even the Vienna Little Red Hat! It was a pleasant surprise for me who just came back from Austria! Nanjing | Zifeng Tower Greenland Intercontinental Standing out among the cluster of buildings along the Xuanwu Lake, it still feels like its design is classic and graceful even after more than a decade. Convenient transportation, right at the 🚇 Gulou Station entrance, and the mall downstairs has G-super as well as many eateries. Solved the lunch problem on the first day of stay at the Nanjing Dapaidang below. It's very close to Xuanwu Lake Park, within walking distance, and in summer, you can go to see the lotus flowers. Basically, it's also very convenient to get to other scenic spots in the city center. The room facilities are standard, with the slightly outdated business style of IHG, but the bathroom is very spacious. But overall, the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities are satisfactory. Additionally, the breakfast at this hotel deserves praise, with a rich variety and excellent Chinese cuisine flavors, leaving a memorable impression.

From the buffet restaurant to the Chinese restaurant, and up to the cloud restaurant on the 78th floor, each place is filled with endless surprises and wonderful moments. 🛁🛁 The huge bathroom, as expected, features a design with 【transparent glass】 lol. Thankfully, there's an electric bathroom curtain that can somewhat remedy the situation. However, the peculiar thing is that the curtain's electric switch isn't a one-touch raise/lower system; you need to 【keep pressing】 and watch it slowly descend. The curtain descends at an 【incredibly slow】 pace, and you could get a sore finger before it's even halfway down. Moreover, the switch on mine was broken on the top half, so it could only lower and not raise, making this inconvenient design comparable to the complexity of a bar counter. 🧽🧼 The bathroom's decor is relatively modern, with walls covered in white tiles that, under bright lights, make it seem like a different world compared to the dim bedroom. The square washbasin isn't very large and has a rather shallow bottom, which makes it easy to splash water out when washing. At the same time, the faucet protrudes too much, standing directly above the central drain and getting in the way. Additionally, the side-mounted tap is even more inconvenient. 🧺🧻 Two hand towels are stacked on the countertop, with two bath towels hanging on the long handle directly in front. On the left, there are two mouthwash cups turned upside down, and on the right, besides the soap, there's also a large bottle of lotion provided. The hairdryer is stored in a black leather box in a crevice on the right side of the countertop and is hard to notice. The toiletry box is even harder to find, placed on a glass shelf under the countertop (wouldn't it be more convenient to switch the positions and put the hairdryer below?), but the floor towel and non-slip mat are easily visible, stacked on a tray above the bathtub, and providing four bath towels is quite convenient. 🛀🏻🚿 The capsule-shaped bathtub isn't very large, and stains on the inside are faintly visible, indicating it hasn't been cleaned for a while. The non-smart toilet is still relatively clean, and the provided disposable toilet seat covers are handy. The shower area has neither a niche nor a countertop, only a handrail, and the large bottles of shower products can only be fixed to the wall. The efficiency of the 1-second hot water is extremely high, and the water flow is strong, but the noise of the draining water is too loud, belonging to the kind that can be annoying when showering with the door closed in a confined space. 📍📍 Summary: The pinnacle of Jinling, a landmark of Nanjing, the significance and aspiration of 【Zifeng Tower】 to the people of Nanjing need no explanation. As a five-star hotel located in the 【tallest building in Jiangsu】, 'from afar it amazes, up close it astounds, upon entering it settles, and during the stay it fades,' is my candid assessment. Setting aside its halo and judging it purely as a hotel, the oppressive environment and various anti-human details lead to a subpar stay, making it hard to describe the overall accommodation experience as 【feeling at home】. Coupled with over a decade of operation and outdated design, it struggles to attract the choice and favor of new consumers. As I said at the beginning of this series of reviews, 'If you simply equate 【Zifeng Tower】 with 【Greenland InterContinental Hotel】, take my advice and don't come.' It's always majestic to view the peak through the mist, no need for irreverent play, just admire from afar. Conveniently located in Nanjing Gulou district, the Nanjing Intercontinental hotel offers rooms and facilities that enjoy panoramic views of the city of Nanjing. Most beautiful is the view on the Northeastern side that is on Xuanwu lake and the Purple mountain. Rooms exposed to the West are a bit hot or take time to cool down with the aircon. Rooms are actually a bit smaller than they appear on pictures in Ihg and travel agents websites. Service is good. Staff are trying to make your stay a pleasant one. But sometimes organisation is slow. The breakfast offers good and large choice of well food and again a stunning view of the city on the 45th floor. It was a fair stay for my wife's birthday. Although the hotel arranged for a nice little birthday cake for 4, I was a little disappointed that they first did not meet my written request for a lake view room while I am an Ihg member and that guests booking via C trip got free upgrade to lake view room as they wrote in their reviews. Anyway we got a change of room due to the aircon failure in our first allocated room on the 58th floor to a lake view room on the same floor. The reception staff was on this matter very understanding and professional.
