InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort
InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort
I stayed at the InterContinental for 2 nights in an overwater villa + 2 nights in a lagoon overwater duplex, and I'd like to share my experience:
Room Experience:
1. Overwater Villa: Open the door to the crystal-clear sea and a private pool! It's a great experience! You can see schools of small fish swimming by! The only downside is that the sound of the waves is a bit loud, so if you're a light sleeper, I recommend choosing a lagoon room!
2. Lagoon Overwater Duplex: My favorite! It has a two-story design, with the bedroom and bathtub on the second floor, offering a 180° unobstructed view of the sea on both sides! Downstairs leads directly to the calm waters of the lagoon, perfect for practicing snorkeling! The key is that it's super quiet, you can't hear the waves at all, and the sleep quality is excellent.
Restaurants:
1. The Lighthouse: The landmark of the InterContinental! The rooftop terrace offers beautiful views! For dinner, I highly recommend the seafood paella, lamb chops, and scallops! The waiters will kindly introduce each dish. Remember to book a window seat in advance.
2. Fish Market: Featuring fresh seafood, you can even go on a boat tour and take photos! The chef will also demonstrate cooking skills on-site, making it a super fun interactive experience. The downside is that it can get cold due to the wind.
3. Cafe Umi: A must-try for breakfast! Buffet + à la carte menu, the overall taste is decent, but not particularly amazing!
SPA Experience:
The spa is located in an overwater bungalow next to The Lighthouse, offering excellent privacy! The masseuse was very professional and the massage was so comfortable that I almost fell asleep!
Drawbacks:
1. Average Snorkeling Environment: To be honest, the snorkeling around the hotel is just average! It's not easy to see Nemo. If you want to see manta rays or coral gardens, I recommend signing up for a paid excursion.
2. Upgraded Package is More Cost-Effective: The basic half-board only includes breakfast and dinner. I strongly recommend upgrading to the "Premium Half-Board"! For an additional $2,000, you can unlock a 60-minute couples spa, floating breakfast, and daily group snorkeling (much more cost-effective than buying them separately!).
Summary:
If you want to capture photos of Tiffany blue waters and lagoons, go for it! No color adjustment needed.
I recommend choosing the Premium Half-Board! The floating breakfast is perfect for photos in the pool, and the couples spa alone makes it worth the price.
Not recommended for those with high expectations for snorkeling or excursions.
The butler service was super attentive! Thumbs up! They even prepared a bubble bath, a handwritten card, and a small fan.
The duplex lagoon overwater villa is a rare find in the Maldives. Lagoon rooms are in high demand, so book in advance!
Overall, the InterContinental's service, design, and dining are all excellent, especially suitable for those seeking a quiet and relaxing vacation!
