Experience the Analog Charm at Hyundai Card Music Library (and more!) in Hannam-dong
#cityplaybook
If you're looking for a unique and stylish experience in Hannam-dong, you absolutely must check out the Hyundai Card Music Library at 246 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. I'd seen it mentioned on the Hyundai Card app and always wanted to visit, and it definitely did not disappoint!
Even if you're not a Hyundai Card member, there's a lot to enjoy. The building itself is a work of art, a real head-turner that I'd often wondered about when passing by on the bus. Many international visitors were taking photos, and I joined right in! The interior is just as impressive, with a chic and modern design that makes you feel like you're in an art gallery. There are comfortable spots on the floor where you can relax, and the café on the first floor is perfect for grabbing a coffee to enjoy in this cool atmosphere.
Vinyl & Plastic: A Music Lover's Paradise (Open to Everyone!)
The first floor, called "Vinyl & Plastic," is open to everyone, not just Hyundai Card members. If you love LP records, this is your playground. It's a clean and comfortable space filled wall-to-wall with records. They're neatly organized by genre—pop, jazz, rock, and more—making it easy to find what you're looking for. You can even watch videos on monitors with headphones, which is a neat way to experience music.
But the absolute best part is the listening booths where you can pick your own vinyl records to play on a turntable. Each turntable has two headphone jacks, making it perfect for a date! It's so easy to use: you pick up to three records, play them freely, and then return them to a cart. The staff are super helpful and will give you a quick rundown on how everything works. I chose Bruno Mars and Queen for my first listen – it was amazing to see the descriptions on the album covers, detailing their awards and styles.
Using the turntable brought back so many memories. It's such a different, warm sound compared to digital music. I also got to see cassette tapes again, which brought back fond memories of recording songs and spending nights making mixtapes when I was younger.
