Dongfanghong Forest Farm is located in the southeast of Baoqing County, 30 km from the county seat, on the northern slope of the Wanda Mountains. More than 70 years ago, this was a border military fortress secretly built by the Japanese army to attack the Soviet Union, and it was also a "devil's cave" that persecuted Chinese laborers. This fortress is known as the "Oriental Maginot Line". After visiting, you will enter the underground. This underground fortress is very large, with a length of several tens of kilometers. It has a kitchen, ammunition depot, generator room, dormitory, etc. But these fortresses were built with the bones of Chinese laborers! When we went, it was a hot summer day, but in the underground fortress, it was freezing cold! Cold, solid, cold, narrow, slippery ground underfoot, water droplets condensing on the walls, steel bars as thick as fingers overhead, making you just want to leave quickly. When Japan announced its unconditional surrender, the Japanese troops stationed here were still resisting stubbornly. With the cooperation of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, the Soviet army launched a fierce attack on the fortress. The must-visit spots are the relics of the self-defense counterattack battle at that time, and the border guard post which can be seen from afar but not up close. Three monuments have been erected near the site of the self-defense counterattack battle, one is 'Gemstone Island', one is 'Gemstone Island Telegraph Monument', and the other is the 'First Victory in a Hundred Years, Sole Triumph on an Island' monument.
