I've been living in Dali for 2 years and have started exploring lesser-known cities in Yunnan. I found Mile, a small city just 30 minutes away from Kunming by high-speed rail. I stayed there for two days. There were few tourists, many attractions, great photo opportunities, and delicious food. I want to share it with you all!

High-speed rail: Mile is directly accessible from Kunming, Dali, Nanning, Beihai, Guangzhou, and other cities. You can also transfer in Kunming, which is only half an hour away.
Public transportation: Mile has buses and taxis, and you can also use ride-hailing apps.

1️⃣ Dongfengyun Scenic Area: One of the most famous attractions in Mile, known for its unique red brick buildings and beautiful natural scenery. The scenic area has many photo spots, such as the Kaleidoscope Art Museum and Half Cloud Lounge.

I've stayed at all the hot spring hotels around Kunming and I still like Lakequan the most. The entire eco-park is very nice and there are many hot spring pools with clean water~
I recommend booking a room at Lakequan Hotel directly, which includes two hot spring tickets, so you can soak for two days. There is a shuttle bus from each building to the hot spring every few minutes, which is very convenient. I've been there twice and stayed in Building C both times. It's close to the restaurant and not far from the hot spring. The rooms are also nice. I recommend staying in Building C!

A friend recommended a hotel that said you could get both accommodation and hot springs for the price of one! It's true! Stayed for two days and one night.
You can soak in the hot spring pools as much as you want, unlimited times.

Crossing the Hustle and Bustle, Meeting Mile: A Four-Day Three-Night Dream Journey!
In the midst of a busy urban life, I embarked on a three-night four-day trip to Mile, Yunnan. This journey not only allowed me to appreciate the natural scenery and cultural landscapes of Mile but also provided me with unprecedented relaxation and satisfaction in my soul.
Day 1: Departure and Tranquility by the Lake Spring
Upon arriving in Mile, I checked into the Lake Spring Boman Hotel. The hotel is adjacent to the Lake Spring Ecological Park, and from the window of my room, a tranquil lake view came into sight, instantly calming and soothing my mood. I strolled along the lakeside, admiring the black swans and mallards in the lake, and enjoying the gentle breeze. At dusk, the sunset cast a shimmering glow on the lake, creating a mesmerizing scene. In such an environment, I began my journey in Mile, looking forward to the upcoming explorations and discoveries. I also visited the night market in the Lake Spring Ecological Park, where I tasted local delicacies such as grilled tofu and fried potatoes, whose unique flavors still linger in my memory.
Day 2: An Artistic Journey of Oriental Charm and the Rich Aroma of Red Wine
On the second day, I eagerly headed to the Oriental Charm Scenic Area. This place is a perfect blend of art and nature. The red brick buildings glistened in the sunlight, each brick seemingly telling an ancient story. I particularly enjoyed the Kaleidoscope Art Museum, where the exhibits were dazzling, each filled with creativity and inspiration. Standing in front of the paintings, I savored the meticulous craftsmanship of the artists, feeling the emotions and thoughts conveyed through their brushes. In the afternoon, I visited the Yunnan Red Wine Manor. Here, I not only toured the wine-making process but also personally tasted the results of each stage from grape to wine. The rich fruity aroma of the wine slowly flowed on my palate, allowing me to experience the charm of the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, as if tasting the sediment of time and the passage of years. At the wine tasting event in the manor, I also met a local Yi girl who warmly sang a Yi toasting song for me. The melodious tune and sincere emotions deeply moved me.
Day 3: Forest Adventure at Taiping Lake and Relaxation in the Hot Springs
On the third day, I drove to Taiping Lake Forest Park. The natural scenery here was truly breathtaking! The lush trees, crystal-clear lakes, and fragrant flowers made it feel like a natural oxygen bar. I walked and cycled in the park, fully enjoying the gifts of nature and feeling the breath and rhythm of life in the forest. I also visited the park's observation deck, overlooking the beautiful scenery of Taiping Lake, with its shimmering waters and lush greenery, which left me enchanted. In the afternoon, I returned to the Lake Spring Boman Hotel to enjoy the relaxation of the hot springs. Soaking in the hot springs, I felt a sense of joy and relaxation, as if all my fatigue was washed away by the warm water. I closed my eyes, letting the hot spring water gently envelop me, feeling the rare tranquility and comfort.
Day 4: A Culinary Journey and Reluctance on the Way Home
In the blink of an eye, the four-day journey was coming to an end. Before leaving, I tasted local specialties of Mile, such as the rich and flavorful braised chicken rice noodles, the crispy and tender Mile crispy meat, and the delicious and warming lamb soup pot, all of which left me with endless aftertastes. I also visited the local farmers' market, buying fresh vegetables and fruits. The fresh air and lively atmosphere made me feel the unique charm of Mile. Especially the warm and hospitable people, whose smiles and kind words made me feel the warmth of home. On the way back, I was filled with reluctance and nostalgia for Mile, reminiscing about the wonderful times of the past few days. Although the trip was short, it left a deep impression and beautiful memories.
Looking back on this four-day journey, I deeply felt the unique charm of this small town of Mile. The Lake Spring Hotel offers an amazing experience
Located within the Lake Spring Eco Park, it is relatively independent and secluded from the surroundings, but conveniently, there is a free electric cart shuttle to Building A (which means you can walk to the Damaizhai shopping and dining area) and to the mid-mountain hot springs. The lobby service for calling a car is very prompt, making it quite convenient overall. I booked a family room, which has a loft structure that should be quite interesting for children. The accommodation includes unlimited access to the mid-mountain hot springs (excluding the water therapy pool), which is great. The staff mentioned that the water comes directly from underground springs, and the calcium carbonate hot springs provide a very comfortable bubbling sensation. Additionally, a complimentary breakfast is provided. The banquet hall-style layout has a high ceiling and a spacious area, which is a bit chilly for dining in winter, but I think it's still fantastic, as the thought and form are there. There's a beverage bar in the lobby downstairs, with coffee, Pu'er tea, and sugar ginger water to choose from, which is considerate. The lake view is very pleasant, and taking a leisurely walk around the lake, letting go of everything, creates an environment where it's hard to feel anxious. I recommend that visitors coming for the hot springs from other places choose to stay here directly for the high cost-performance ratio. Lastly, the service is overall very friendly.

I just went to the Maitreya Lake Quan Hotel last week, stayed for one night, and the experience was top-notch!
💛 Stayed in Lake Quan Block A, very close to the entrance of the Ecological Garden, and got complimentary tickets for two to the Mid-Mountain Hot Springs. I actually went there once in the morning, noon, and evening!
💛 Going to the Mid-Mountain Hot Springs alone would cost over 100 each, so for two people we saved 300 - and the best part is that it's unlimited haha
💛 I loved the lavender pool the most, after soaking in it my sleep improved, and overall I had a super good night's sleep
💛 Went to the hotel breakfast the next day with high expectations, and the roasted duck was absolutely amazing, everyone must try it~

❣️The hotel is divided into A, B, C, and E blocks. Block B is under maintenance🧑🔧 and not available for stay; we stayed in a room in Block A, which has a very nice environment, but Block E is closer to the hot springs.
I think the first floor has a great environment; the balcony on the first floor surrounds a pond with lots of koi🐟 and black swans🦢. The hotel has an overall retro and rustic wooden style, making it feel very comfortable and peaceful.
❣️There are staff members who drive sightseeing cars every day to take you to the hot springs! It's very convenient, and the hot springs have unique small pools with red wine🍷, milk, and roses🌹

When Yunnan is mentioned, images of Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake, the Ancient Tea Horse Road, blue skies, white clouds, wafts of floral fragrance, and a strong artistic vibe come to mind. It's truly a place I long to visit. My first encounter with Mile gave me a different kind of memory. It presented a beautiful scene unlike the stereotypical impressions. I opened Ctrip, chose the well-known "Lake Spring Hotel", and followed the navigation with great anticipation to the lobby. It was a pleasant surprise, and I was completely satisfied. The building was made of wood, exuding a holiday atmosphere, the room was very spacious, and it even had a private balcony. It was so comfortable to sit there, sipping tea and enjoying the breeze. I bathed in the natural hot springs, shedding the fatigue amidst the greenery of the mountains and forests. The scenery on a sunny day was as beautiful as an oil painting. In the evening, I took a walk around the ecological garden and even caught a glimpse of the sunset. I avoided the crowded holidays, caught the early summer when the flowers were blooming, and found many photogenic spots. Mile is truly beautiful, and so is Lake Spring. I look forward to more wonderful experiences 🌞💕

May Day Maitreya Parent-Child Tour
5.1 Zhanjiang to Kunming Changshui Airport 2h, stay in Kunming for one night, look for local specialties nearby, I didn't know before that yangyu is actually potato
5.2 In the morning, from Kunming High-speed Train Station to Mile Station 1h, the original plan was to take a taxi to Dongfengyun first, but the taxi driver said it's too crowded now, strongly advised not to go at noon, but regretted it (because if you go in the afternoon, you can only leave the scenic area at night, it's hard to get a taxi when it's dark, and there was a storm that night, places that are hard to get a taxi should be visited during the day and finished before evening).
Suggestion: After getting off the high-speed train, go to Dongfengyun for 3-4 hours of play, it's best to book a hotel at Dongfengyun and stay there, take your time to enjoy. It's great for taking photos, and children can have a lot of fun.
5.3 Suggest going from Dongfengyun to Taiping Lake Forest Park, you can also take a mini train or rent a shared bike to tour Taiping Lake. If you're with children, avoid walking if possible!!! The core flower sea and the stone park are also good for taking photos, and there are also slides and water parks to enjoy. It's best to choose a room close to the lobby or restaurant, so you don't have to wait for the hotel shuttle, the place is really big!
5.4 On the last day of the trip, you can choose Lake Spring Hotel, go soak in the hot springs, unlimited entries, soak once at night and play again in the morning, half an hour each time, children really like it. Other times you can ride a bicycle and take a tour around.
If you have ample time, you can also go to the vineyard to pick grapes, Mile Station to Lake Spring Ecological Park, on the way, there are vineyards and blueberry farms!
Overall, Maitreya is very suitable for leisure and entertainment, reserve more time for each attraction, play leisurely, a slower pace is more comfortable!

It's been a long time since I shared my travels. In 2022, we visited many places in Yunnan and experienced a lot of folk culture, but we didn't go to the southeast to Honghe Prefecture. So this time, I finally went to the long-awaited Honghe Prefecture, saw the Yuanyang Rice Terraces, the ancient city of Jianshui, the ancient city of Shiping, the Hekou Port, and later arrived at Mengzi, the birthplace of rice noodles. Finally, we came to Mile, which is my favorite place in the entire trip.
We didn't stay long in Mile, nor did we check in to the scenic spots like Dongfangyun, but we experienced the hot spring hotel in Lake Quan Shuixiang. The mid-mountain hot spring is really nice, and my favorite is the rose bath pool. After soaking, the whole person is fragrant.
The market in Mile is also very worth visiting, with fresh and cheap fruits like blueberries, loquats, mangoes, and the freshly made corn cakes are super delicious!
Mile gives the impression of being unhurried and has a slow pace. Although many people do not include Mile in their Yunnan travel plans, I believe that more people will definitely go there in the future!

Winter self-driving tour of Southeast Yunnan, two-day and one-night trip experience in Mile
Depart from Kunming in the morning and drive to Mile. The whole journey is about 150 kilometers, which takes about 2 hours. Arrive at Mile at noon and go directly to the first stop, Dongfeng Yun Scenic Area~.
Dongfeng Yun Scenic Area ticket: 60 yuan + round trip sightseeing car ticket 20 yuan, sightseeing car is optional, it's not big inside, it's not too far to walk into the kaleidoscope, but Yi Lan sincerely advises you to spend this 20 yuan, wait until you have finished visiting and taking pictures, you will know how important the return sightseeing car is, it's a bit difficult for me to walk out again~
The sightseeing car first stops at the colorful garden viewing platform. The flowers in winter have not been planted yet. If you walk down a little bit along the garden, you will reach the seal archway. This area is mainly a commercial area. You can have lunch here, and you can get full with an average of 20 or 30 yuan.
Then continue to walk up to the kaleidoscope, passing by the star theater, in fact, this theater is usually empty, and it's also very beautiful for taking pictures. The key point of the scenic area is the kaleidoscope, which is very exotic for taking pictures. It's best to miss noon, it's too sunny, and the photos are better when the light is softer in the afternoon.
Leave Dongfeng Yun, navigate to Huquan Ecological Park, and pass by Huquan Half Mountain Hot Spring on the way. If you like hot springs, it is recommended to book the Huquan Hotel here directly. The scale of the hot spring is indeed quite large and it looks very comfortable. The lake in Huquan Ecological Park is sparkling, and the shadows of the trees are whirling, giving a bit of a Hainan feel. Indeed, here you can experience the leisurely slow life of Mile, where children dig sand, adults fish and sunbathe, and time is wasted happily.
Finally, while the Buddha City Mall is still open, I went to buy some fruits. The fruits in Mile are much cheaper than in Beijing, realizing fruit freedom~
In the evening, I went to Wenchang Street first. The newly built commercial street is full of lights and wine, mainly operating hot pot and barbecue, a bit deserted. Then I went to Jinxiu Flower Street. There are many local snacks that are dazzling and many locals are eating. I feel that there is more fireworks in the small town here. Yi Lan likes it more, and dinner is here for snacks.
The next morning, I got up and went to Jinping Mountain to see the Mile Buddha. The ticket is 30 yuan, and the one-way sightseeing car ticket is 10 yuan. If you climb up, there are 1999 steps. Anyway, I must take a car up. Walk down the steps when you go down the mountain, and you can take pictures while walking.
Keyi Town is in the same direction as Jinping Mountain, and it is very convenient to drive there. If you arrange the itinerary, these two places can be arranged in one day. Cars can only be parked at the ticket office below, and the 40 yuan ticket includes several entertainment projects. If you don't want to play and only go to the ancient village and watch Axie jump to the moon, you don't need to buy a ticket. The round-trip sightseeing car ticket from the ticket office to the village entrance can be purchased separately for 20 yuan. If you walk on the plank road, there is more than 2 kilometers from the ticket office to the village. But in fact, taking a sightseeing car is not as good as taking a bus. There are many buses from the ticket office to and from the village entrance, which are more frequent than sightseeing cars. We finally waited for the bus to come out without a sightseeing car, 2 yuan per person. Keyi Town is not big, it takes about an hour to go around, the yellow houses are very beautiful for taking pictures, it is very quiet and there are not many tourists, if you are not interested in ancient villages, you can not choose here.

The last stop was Fuxian Lake, it took about an hour and a half to drive from Fuxian Lake to Mile, the road conditions were very good, because it was New Year's Eve that day so there was no traffic jam, Mile gave me a very good impression, the cost of living was not high, the overall feeling was particularly comfortable, the hotel is very suitable for families with children. As for the weather, I was OK with two pieces of clothing, no need to wear thermal underwear, in fact, I started to pay attention to the weather here a week before departure, the weather forecast was showing rain and cloudy the day before, but actually it didn't rain for two days, one day was sunny and the other day was cloudy.
Accommodation: Lake Spring Hotel
Lake Spring Hotel is a treasure hotel I found in this Yunnan trip, the hotel covers a large area, has family rooms, we stayed in Zone C, the family room is on the 6th floor but the elevator can only go to the 5th floor, so we walked to the 6th floor, luggage arrival and departure can call the hotel for help to the lobby, the hotel service staff are quite enthusiastic. There is a small indoor playground not far from our room on the 6th floor, which is quite good. Check-in also has hot spring tickets to give, family room can send three copies, in fact, the hotel room is very cost-effective. The breakfast room is very large, with a lot of categories, completely defeating Fuxian Lake Hilton, after eating, you can feed black swans outside, there is a large lawn for walking and taking pictures. I booked the New Year's Eve dinner at Lake Spring Restaurant in advance, it's not expensive, the dishes are large and taste good, and there is also a dumpling making activity to participate in, in short, this hotel is very nice, will come again next time.
Play and stroll:
Taiping Lake International Eco-tourism Resort, the park is quite large, the ticket is more than 70, because we booked the park lake view restaurant lunch in advance, so the ticket is waived, but the restaurant has to charge a fixed consumption of 120+ per person, which can be deducted from the meal fee, the taste is really very average, I even want to describe it as hard to eat, and the unit price is expensive. Because we brought a small baby, we rented an electric car, the 80-minute fee is 145 yuan, after renting a car, I suddenly felt that the park is not big.
Oriental Rhyme Scenic Area: Because we went on the second day of the lunar new year, but when the car drove to the scenic area parking lot, there was no space left, so we simply gave up this scenic spot, later heard from friends in the group that because the park load was too large, there was a power outage. I'm glad I didn't go.
Buddha Capital Mall: I am actually a hobbyist of visiting vegetable markets, but this location is really not recommended to go, I don't understand how it became popular, very ordinary, a waste of time.
Eat:
Lake Spring Water Cloud: We booked our New Year's Eve dinner here, it's not expensive and the portion is large, you can eat all the local delicacies here, and the quality is guaranteed, the environment is also very good.
Old Shiping Barbecue: We originally planned to go to the famous Big Head Barbecue, but it was closed during the Spring Festival, we found this one along the road, it was open, so we ate, the taste is good, the price is also cheap, recommended.
Taiping Lake Lake View Restaurant: Really really not delicious, the mint ribs are fried so hard that they can't be bitten, chestnut roast pork, chestnut is not soft and rotten, the meat is so woody, the red vegetable moss has a bitter taste, I don't want to recall the other dishes, in short, the taste is really bad.
Suggestions: Lake Spring Hotel is really good, the family room can accommodate at least three adults and one child, the breakfast is very rich, the restaurant in the hotel is also very good, the experience is very good. Taiping Lake Park is recommended to go in the flower season, the sunny flower season is the best time to reflect the beauty here, it is best to rent a car.

Mile, a lesser-known tourist spot in Yunnan
Mile is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, named after the Mile Temple in the city. The city has a pleasant climate, warm in winter and cool in summer, making it a great place for travel and vacation.
