[2025 Budapest Attraction] Travel Guide for Hungarian Railway Museum (Updated Jul)

Had a blast

I'm a railroad fan, but this museum was a huge disappointment. The steam exhibit was OK, but not a great selection of diesel/electric machines, the various special machines were tucked away in the back, only 1-2 had explainable instructions, the machines were all rusted, and the only way to get to the ship's wheelhouse was through. Some of the pieces on display were spectacular, but not always professionally refurbished. The rest were in pretty miserable condition. #2024TravelWish ~ Travel to Sicily, Italy

The Railway History Park is an incredible open-air museum that showcases the rich history of rail travel in Hungary. Gave us a wonderful experience. We tried the handcart and rode the garden train for a ride around the park. We were able to enter the cabs of steam locomotives, the passenger compartments of old passenger cars, mail cars, and dining cars.
