Northern food with Michelin BIB Gourmand
#เที่ยวกับtrip2024
Heuan Muen Jai - This traditional northern-style restaurant in Chiang Mai belongs to Chef Charan Thiphueng, who has inherited recipes passed down from his grandparents for over 100 years. He has gained experience working in restaurants in Sydney, Australia, and has opened 7 branches of Thai restaurants in Japan. He also participated in the Iron Chef cooking competition in 2013. With such outstanding skills, it is no surprise that the restaurant has received the Michelin BIB Gourmand award, as well as many other local awards.

➡️ Northern appetizers
They have a complete set of Nam Phrik Num, Nam Phrik Ong, Gaeng Hang Le, fried pork, Sai Ua, and crispy pork skin. Everything tastes good. The Gaeng Hang Le has soft and tender pork that absorbs the flavor of the curry paste into the meat. The fried pork is not oily. The Sai Ua is also fragrant and delicious. Crispy pork rinds, new and very enjoyable to eat.
➡️ Stir-fried chicken with curry paste
Chicken and vegetables stir-fried with curry paste that is both fragrant and spicy. Delicious and rich. Eat it with hot rice, it's the best.
➡️ Stir-fried mushrooms with pork
Crispy mushrooms stir-fried with a little bit of spice, fragrant with spices. This is another dish that is really enjoyable to eat.
➡️ Pork curry
Compared to other dishes, the curry paste flavor is milder. It's a delicious, well-rounded flavor that is also very pleasing.
➡️ Nam Prik Nam Pu
Nam Prik Nam Pu has a strong crab flavor. It's a bit like Japanese Kani Miso, but with the flavor of green chili and other seasonings added to create a unique flavor. Dip it in steamed mushrooms and it goes very well together.
➡️ Khao Soi Beef / Chicken
This is a Khao Soi that really impressed us because it has the right thickness of curry. The texture is a bit like Western thick soup but still maintains the Thai coconut milk curry. It's delicious and full of flavor. Most importantly, the pieces of beef used are well-selected, thick, and marinated to be soft and melts in your mouth. I must say that beef lovers must try this. As for the chicken khao soi, they use chicken legs.
➡️ Khao Soi Nam Ngiao
Khao Soi Nam Ngiao has fragrant curry paste, thick pieces of pork ribs, and minced pork that isn't too fatty. The pork blood is soft and chewy, just right. It's delicious and worth it.
➡️ Minced Pork Omelette
A skilled chef can make even a basic menu like minced pork omelette perfectly. You can clearly see the difference from other restaurants. The omelette is fluffy and thick, with a smooth and crispy outer skin. The meat is thick and soft, not oily. It's a complete mouthful.
Overall, I'd like to summarize that all the food is delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful, with both outdoor seating where you can enjoy the beautiful and shady garden, and air-conditioned seating decorated in a truly northern style house. The price compared to the quality and taste of the food is incredibly good. Many dishes are priced almost the same as those at local restaurants on the side of the road. But using quality ingredients and meticulous cooking skills, it is no wonder that it has become a popular restaurant that has won many awards. If you come to Chiang Mai, you must stop by. Don't miss it.
