A Journey on the Water: The Nightscape of the Huangpu River
At night, the Huangpu River resembles a dazzling silver ribbon, linking the scenic views of Shanghai's two banks into a painting. I boarded a cruise ship, slowly sailing into this radiant night scene. The river gently lapped against the boat, a breeze brushed my face, and the sound of water and the city's whispers filled my ears.
The boat set off from the Bund, with the historic International Architecture Exhibition on one side, its classical facades illuminated by lights, telling the century-old story of Shanghai; on the other side stood the skyscrapers of Lujiazui, with Jin Mao Tower, the World Financial Center, and Shanghai Tower towering like giants, their neon lights showcasing modern prosperity. As the boat passed under the Waibaidu Bridge, the lights on both sides of the Huangpu River mirrored like a galaxy, making one marvel at the beauty of the fusion between the city and nature.
In the night breeze, the distant Oriental Pearl Tower seemed to wink and smile, reflecting the romance and vitality of this city. This short journey allowed me to deeply feel the unique charm of Shanghai, both ancient and modern, like an unfinished poem.
