Kiri Tharn Dam,Chanthaburi Province.
Located in the district of Makham, about 40 kilometers from Chanthaburi city, you can reach it by traveling along Highway No. 317 for approximately 20 kilometers, where there will be a right turn leading to Kiri Tharn Dam, about 14 kilometers further.
Kiri Tharn Dam is situated in Chanthaburi Province and was constructed by the Department of Energy Development and Promotion under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment. It is a multipurpose dam for electricity generation, irrigation, fisheries, and flood prevention and mitigation during the rainy season. Kiri Tharn Dam is an earth dam with a height of 33 meters, blocking the Huai Saphan Hin stream, located 30 kilometers upstream from Ban Huai Saphan Hin. The average water storage capacity is 76 million cubic meters per year, which is diverted through a tunnel to the southeast into Huai Thap Nakorn, a tributary of the Chanthaburi River. This water diversion creates a difference in water levels between the reservoir and Huai Thap Nakorn of 125 meters, allowing for the installation of hydropower generators with a capacity of 12,200 kilowatts, producing an average of 27 million kilowatt-hours per year. The water used for electricity generation then flows into the Chanthaburi River, which can be utilized for agriculture, water supply, and most importantly, for preventing saltwater intrusion in Chanthaburi Province.
