Getting There ✈️ - We traveled to Sanya from Beijing on #hainanairlines and it cost us around 2.5K¥ per person. service was excellent and we arrived early. Coming from Beijing where it was cold, we appreciated the changing rooms by the luggage collection to change into cooler clothing. Attractions 🏖️ - The main attraction was the beach. Stay close to the village for surfing lessons and crowds or walk along the beach for 5 minutes for pure peace. Other attractions nearby include #wuzhizhou, a neighboring island with turquoise water and snorkeling, the Atlantis Sanya Aquaventure #waterpark and surf lessons until you exhaust yourself. Hotels 🏨 - We stayed at a local hotel 5 minutes from the beach that had reasonable prices. Other hotels were on the beachfront including Nanuna and Yomovo which have pools on the beachfront. Food & Restaurants 🍔- Plenty to choose from to fill your bellies from Brazilian BBQ to hotdogs, burgers and of course Hainan Coconut chicken. Plenty of street sellers selling coconuts to drink and eat and lots of hawkers selling grilled squid and grilled octopus. we even found Xinjiang bread being sold in the evenings. The Solar bar and it’s partner Solicious have cool beach food and pop into Jile Cafe for an iced coffee beachfront. Shopping 🤑- If you like surfing and surf style clothing there are plenty of options. Bikinis, swimsuits, rash vests and zinc sticks are all available for purchase here. Getting there; Houhai village is located in sanya close to haitang bay and about 45 minutes drive from yalong bay and about 35 minutes from sanya bay. It is convenient to take a taxi or a bus . You can visit wuzhizhou island from Houhai . Houhai comes alive in the night . There are lots of pubs and bars along the beach area where lots of people hang out. The night market is also a sight to behold. Lots of street foods to try and they are also sold at a cheap price. Houhai village is a must visit for tourists who visit Sanya . It’s a small village, not too far from Sanya (at around 40 minutes by taxi from Dadonghai area). Lots of people learn how to surf there. But the beach is good for swimming too. Party atmosphere is everywhere. Bars and restaurants are opened till late. Western style restaurants are closer to the beach. It’s definitely something different from other touristic places in Sanya. #houhai is a fun spot to chill on the beach, hangout through the little village or rest up at one of the many hostel/hotels located on the beach 🏖 and eat a variety of food! Getting There - I went from sanya city to Houhai Village. It’s about a 45 mins drive from Sanya city. You can take a taxi or a bus or take a didi . the village is close to wuzhizhou island where lots of tourists also visit. Attractions - Wuzhizhou Island ,beach Surfing, bars etc. Hotels - there are many hotels and homestays lined up in Houhai village. I took a walk from the beach and found this little Thai restaurant. They do have few choices and only few of the foods are actually Thai foods. Nevertheless it is great to try new foods in Hohai Village. The restaurant is neat and they have candies on every table. Food & Restaurants - There are food stalls of different delicacies everywhere around .

Ambiance/Facilities - The café is right down a hotel and it has a balcony that’s a Valdosta beach that’s overlooks the beach. Highlights - As a variety of drinks and snacks especially the coffee flavored drinks and a nice for you Avg. Price per Person - 35 RMB per person per person Rating - 3.5 /5 there are lots of cafés and hotels at Houhai village. We were looking forward to go back to this burgershop again this year after stumbling on it last year. The menu has more choices of food and side dishes. They now have vegetarian choices if you don’t eat/like beef. While my friends vouched for eating the best burger they ever had, my vegetarian hotdog was also great 😁 I ordered a cucumber tonic water which was so refreshing 😅 They also offer cocktails, beers and soft drinks. My friend’s potato wedges were also yummy. Prices are very decent portion wise 👍🏼 My drink and hotdog with a side mini salad 🥗 costed me 88¥. The burgershop also sells summer clothes, bags, sunglasses and a bunch of other accessories. After a short walk through the narrow streets if Houhai you exit on a wide curved beach. The waves are perfect for surfing a and there are plenty of people doing so. A 10 minute stroll and you're in a large empty piece of sandy beach with clear blue sea to dip your feet into. Go south for a beautiful clean beach. Go north for rustic harbour, with a pier, harboured boats and a smaller beach. Both are around 10 minutes from eachother.

Getting There - Drive by car about an hour from Dadonghai, park outside the village in paid parking, then walk or ask your hotel to pick you up at the entrance. Burgers, tacos, seafood, so much variety This is our 3rd visit to Houhai and we finally got it right. Although this review will highlight some issues about visiting this area, as a family, we fundamentally love it and world recommend a visit for 2-3 nights. Definitely get a hotel away from the central beach 'party zone'. Although music can still be heard, it's not as prevalent. We went for dinner earlier in the evening. The streets were less crowded. The win about Houhai is there's something for everyone's tastes, Western and Chinese. My son ate tacos from 2 separate places! Daytime, the beach does not offer shade. Rather stay in a beach front hotel with a patio you can leave your stuff on. Be careful of some rubbish (especially broken glass) on the beach. Every morning the cleaners come and pick up as much as they can but we still found glass and debris every day. Hire surf boards and SUP and enjoy! We hired an SUP from our hotel for 150rmb for 2 hours and just played in the water! At night time Houhai comes alive. It's known as a party town but even for families we still went out and walked the huge beach as the tide was out and looked at the lights and fun being had. If you are noise sensitive, maybe this isn't the place but do know Houhai has a strict music off time, so it doesn't go on all night. So Houhai is a little rough around the edges but it's vibe is unique. If you are looking for somewhere you can just 'let go' for a bit and relax in old school beach fun then I would definitely recommend coming here.#beachlife

After my friends said this was the ‘place to be’ - I had to go! I wasn’t disappointed. If you’re a party goer, looking for good vibes, relaxing in the sun or surfing the waves, this is the place to go in Sanya this summer! It’s about 100¥ for a board for an hour and there’s plenty of instructors there to teach you if you don’t already know how to surf. my boyfriend and I stayed in a cute little family run hotel at the end of the beach, nice and quiet but not too out of the way for the bustle of the bay. I will no doubt be going back to HANA TO ALICE (the hotel) and staying longer! Even in a thunderstorm and typhoon, we felt completely safe and welcomed. Getting There - You can take the speed train (to Yalong Bay - railway station), plane (to Sanya) and then a Didi/taxi to the Houhai village. The taxi/Didi will drop you off at the entrance of the village. You can walk or take the golf cars to your hotel. Attractions - The beach is absolutely beautiful blue. Close by is the Rice Park which have massive dinosaurs (7km). We went to the Yalong Bay Glass bridge which is in the rain forest, (about 27km from Houhai beach). It was definitely worth it to go and walk on the glass bridge (with no cracking affect). On top of the glass bridge we took the 3km slide down. Woah, that was fast and rough. Hotels - There are a few hotels on the beach with bathtubs and swimming pools. Food & Restaurants - There are Western restaurants. The burger place I would highly recommend and the Brazilian BBQ. Price per Person - RMB 50 Rating - 10/10 An inexpensive, casual bohemian/ Latina inspired rooftop bar. Enjoy local and international drinks in the infinity pool over looking the prize of Houhai. As the sun goes down and the sunset shows off, the fairy lights turn on, switching the Daytime pool bar into an ambient and intimate setting to share with friends or partners. Getting There - I’d recommend you take a DiDi. Keep it in mind that this place gets very busy starting at around 4. Your 30mins drive can easily become 1.5-2hours because of traffic. Attractions - There’s a great food street that makes you feel like you’re in Thailand! There are plenty of bars/clubs on the beach. The drinks are very expensive though (60¥ for a 20¥ beer). The atmosphere is great and it gets very crowded. Houhai is definitely Sanya’s party beach! Hotels - Plenty of options near the beach. Food & Restaurants - There are tons of restaurants you can choose from. Upon arrival there were many people on the street; there are restaurants along the shores of the beach which you and walk along and explore . 📍Houhai is a must see ! Highlights - You can get a swim in while having your table at IPK ,there is also surfing available 🌊🏄🏽‍♀️🏄🏽‍♂️.The beach bar also has an outdoor gym where gym bunnies normally flex their muscles and beach bodies 🏋🏻‍♀️🤸🏽‍♂️,great touch to the bar .I did not have anything to eat but there is food menu .The price of the Hoeegarden beer 🍻was ¥ 40 and the Gin&Tonic was ¥40.You can catch a beautiful sunset if you stay there till late . I rented a surf board for 100 RMB for the day.🏄‍♂️ At night, the beach strip comes awakens and becomes a lively party scene. Of all the beaches in Sanya, Houhai is the best! It’s a surf village with a blend of Chinese and western vibes. I love how dichotomous this place is. If you want the island life vibes and blend in the crowd, the village is the place to be. I enjoyed the convenience of having pretty much everything at walking distance: restaurants, hotels, convenience stores, fruit shops, souvenir shops, food stalls, street food, cafes, bars… BUT bear in mind that bars by the beach can be pricey and also have blasting music at night. I wouldn’t recommend staying at the hotels above if you’re looking for something calm & relaxing. On the other hand, if you crave for a laid-back &peaceful atmosphere, I recommend walking a bit further from the main beach. Price per Person - 100 yuan pp Rating - 9/10 After a busy and eventful day we headed straight to the 'Burger shop'. It is very closely located to the beach. We were lucky and got a seat. This joint is very popular and filled up quickly. Even though it was busy the service and quality of the food was still excellent. I was impressed by how they were able to get everybody's food out so quick and all the customers looked satisfied. They do not only sell delicious burgers ,but also have some mexican favourites such as Taco's and burrito's. If I ever visit Houhai village again I will surely go to the Burger Shop again. #beaches

Getting There - Didi (45min from Sanya Bay)🚘 Attractions - Ocean with mini waves. 🏝️ Hotels - Houhai Nanuna Food & Restaurants - Burger shop. 🍔 Shopping - Night street marget (vintage vibes). We arrived at Houhai village at around 9am. Most shops were still closed and there were dirt and garbage everywhere (on the beach and on the streets).Not to mention it smelled REALLY bad. This was the first indication of the amount of people that visit this village on a daily basis. Small waves were crashing on the shoreline and Everything looked very beautiful and peaceful. We then rented some surf boards at Nanuna hotel, they gave the best rates. It was fun playing in the water with the surf boards, but the amount of people streaming in was mind blowing. This beach has a really nice atmosphere and I can imagine it could be lovely visiting it during off season. At around 6pm we headed back, the traffic was insane and our Didi driver took around an hour to get to us (only 2km). Houhai is nice, but the human factor does steal some joy from the whole experience.
