WHERE DO I START!! Pier/Vintage/Food/Animals/Surf
Let’s dive into the charm of Houhai Village, nestled between the picturesque Yalong and Haitang areas in Sanya, Hainan. Renting an e-bike is a fantastic way to explore; I highly recommend the Yadea E8 TT, which boasts a large battery capacity, allowing for an easy round trip to the village. Just make sure your battery is fully charged before setting off!
The journey itself is a visual feast—the stunning scenery along the way is something you won't experience fully in a car. If you time your visit right, you might spot serene sights such as cows grazing leisurely in lush fields, flocks of chickens clucking about, and even herds of goats, Billy goats, and majestic water buffaloes. It’s undeniably a magical experience immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the area.
Houhai Village exudes a distinct character that starkly contrasts with the bustling atmosphere of downtown Sanya. If you’re in the mood for a treasure hunt, the village is filled with vintage stores that offer thrifting vibes and a relaxed, welcoming aura from the locals. Whether you’re looking to swim or learn to ride the waves, this area has something for everyone.
Wandering through Houhai Village, you'll discover a network of charming roads leading to various spots perfect for photography or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll. If you prefer not to walk, especially given the village's size, you can easily rent a scooter or a scooter with a sidecar for added convenience. There are also buses available, but they primarily service direct routes to specific destinations. For those with mobility challenges, while it’s feasible to navigate with a wheelchair, the cobbled streets can make it a bit uncomfortable, and there’s a chance of getting wheels stuck in uneven spots.
If you decide that the village isn’t quite what you’re looking for, consider taking a scenic boat ride to Wuzhizhou Island Tourism Scenic Area. Just keep in mind that it tends to get crowded during holidays, so plan accordingly.
Today, I enjoyed a delightful lunch at Nanuna, a cozy spot where you can choose to dine indoors or bask in the sun outside. The restaurant features a lovely pool right on the beach, providing a serene atmosphere. I indulged in some delicious beef noodles and garlic scallops, both of which were flavorful, while the dumplings were decent but not remarkable. For a sandy-free experience close to the beach, you can also visit one of the many beach bars nearby, many of which have inviting pools to enjoy.
