Fujian people are tight-lipped. They don't promote such a wonderful event, so few people outside Fujian know about the parade. It's worth seeing, and a very special traditional Chinese cultural event. I would call it the most festive moment of the year! In the endless parade, all kinds of gods pass by the villagers' houses and temples, receiving worship from the people. Firecrackers are set off as the gods pass by, to pray for good luck. It's hard to find such a festive atmosphere these days! The best parade is in Houfu, Fuzhou, which connects many natural villages. The parade starts at 8 am and continues until midnight. At night, the parade is full of cyberpunk style, accompanied by fireworks, and is very spectacular! 📍Houfu, Fuzhou 📅10th day of the first lunar month I recommend that people from outside the area watch the parade in Houfu. It's wonderful both day and night. If you have the energy, you must watch the whole day. It's a show worth standing for. If you can't make it, you can check the schedule online and watch the parade in other villages. It's just as amazing for first-timers! 🧨Parade tips 1. Equipment: There are firecrackers everywhere, so I recommend long sleeves and pants, and a hat. Choose non-flammable materials, and don't wear down jackets, as they will burn holes. I also recommend a mask and earplugs (I used noise-canceling headphones), as the firecrackers are loud. 2. Route: The parade route is announced in advance every year. I recommend checking the map in advance. You can follow the parade or watch from a few fixed points. The main road is crowded and lively. 3. Transportation: You can take a bus from Changle City, or take a taxi, which is very convenient. You can get a taxi even late at night. If you drive, park on the side of the main road and walk in. Don't drive in, as there are many people and it will be blocked. Locals usually ride electric scooters. 4. Food: Many people gather for the parade, and there are many vendors. You don't have to worry about finding food, but it's much more expensive than outside, so I recommend bringing your own food. 5. Accommodation: You can stay in Changle City, which is cheaper. Jinfeng Town is closer, but more expensive. The parade is not very popular yet, so you can book a hotel and the price won't increase. But in the future, I recommend planning your trip in advance.
