Gornergrat is a popular route in Zermatt, with a mountain train running every 20 minutes, indicating a large number of tourists. The internet is flooded with photos taken from the same spots and angles. Besides visiting the observation deck, I find it enjoyable to have a coffee outdoors. Below the Gornergrat observation deck, there's an artificial reservoir that's a popular photo spot. The next stop, Rotenboden, has two naturally formed meltwater pools, known for the reflection of the Matterhorn. To capture a beautiful reflection, you need to go early when the weather is good and there's no wind. Once the wind picks up or clouds roll in during the afternoon, the reflection becomes impossible to capture. However, I am fascinated by the mid-slope of Riffelhorn, right next to the glacier cliff, offering a breathtaking view of the glacier. Or at the foot of the Matterhorn, where the glacier trail begins, there's a meltwater lake reflecting the black Matterhorn. I really don't want to queue up with the crowd and follow the trend of taking Instagram-worthy photos, especially since it's not suitable for a man in his sixties.

Gornergrat Bahn is reachable with the Gornergrat Railway. The pricing of the railway is vary depending on the route and season. With a Swiss Travel Pass, you will get to enjoy a 50% discount. It is recommended to wear water proof shoes. They also offer plenty of activities such as hiking, sledding, skiing, mountain biking and more. You may check their website for more information. ⛰️Hiking is absolutely essential in Zermatt. For the "Five Lakes Hiking Route" we chose the most famous Gornergrat. In order to make it easier to go down the mountain from 3100 kulmhotel, I only brought a simple backpack when I checked in, and my large luggage was stored at the hotel at the foot of the mountain. But even so, we almost cried when we were in our prime. ⛰️I woke up early to watch the sunrise, watching the Matterhorn peak gradually turn into egg yolk red. I took photos again and again of this Lindt chocolate, and felt the joy of booking a reservation again. Thank God for the blessing. The mountainous area illuminated by the big sun was so beautiful. The two of them danced and followed the master in front of them towards the Matterhorn. It only took half an hour to take pictures of the reflection on the lake in Riffelberg. Tourists live at the foot of the mountain and then take the cable car up the mountain. The Glacier Paradise route also includes the Ice Palace. The snow here is really soft. The Glacier Express rides on one of the worlds best rails. One portion of the journey is even UNESCO recognised! Although not cheap at around €300+ per pax, finding an alternative to this is almost impossible. The train goes through and along mountains and provides spectacular views that could leave you in awe for almost all 8 hours of the journey. You can purchase meals onboard the train however they are a little pricey. They however will not stop you from bringing your own meals on board if you’d like (which is what we did)! The seats were quite comfy, although it’s not the kind you could easily sleep in. There’re plugs and trash bins at every table for your convenience. #skiadventure Rotenboden, at an altitude of 2,815 metres, is the fourth station along the Gornergrat Railway. It gave a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. We were there during spring, and the place was still filled with snow. The weather was great. And, we managed to watch some ski moments. Hope to be back in Zermatt in the near future during the winter season to get our share of ski adventures. #mytripvlog
