At the turn of the year, our family of ten embarked on a meaningful journey. This time, we chose to leave our familiar hometown and travel to celebrate the New Year. We set off on a wonderful journey to explore the small cities of southern Yunnan. Each city left us with unique memories, piecing together the warmest and most unforgettable puzzle of this Lunar New Year. Our first stop was Gejiu. The morning snack street was filled with the most authentic smoke and fire of life. The sugar-coated meat skewers had a wonderful taste that instantly blossomed on the tip of our tongues, with a blend of salty and sweet flavors that started our day off on a good note. The food on Chicken Street was not only delicious but also affordable, with every bite filled with a strong sense of humanity. The Zhadian milk, which could be bought everywhere, was rich and smooth, with every sip being a delicious gift from nature. Even when we went to Shadian, where many shops were closed, the snacks we bought had a unique flavor, adding a special surprise to our trip to Gejiu. Mengzi was like a fresh ink painting, unfolding before our eyes. The Pioneer Bookstore, with its rows of bright and neat bookshelves, carried the vast ocean of knowledge; the lush trees outside the bookstore cast dappled shadows, creating a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere. Here, time seemed to slow down, and our hearts found an unprecedented tranquility. Although we couldn't taste the famous "Crossing the Bridge" rice noodles, leaving a small regret, it also became a reason to come back next time, making us miss Mengzi even more. We spent New Year's Eve in Kaiyuan. Although there were few people and the night market was closed, the New Year's Eve dinner we found by chance gave us a big surprise. Every dish was filled with the taste of home, comforting our taste buds. The next morning, we took a small train to enjoy the scenery of the city in a unique way. The 20-yuan ticket brought us a journey of scenery, allowing us to experience the unique charm of Kaiyuan in a fleeting glance. Mile was the last stop of our trip. Here, we would like to especially thank Teacher Ma for booking us a spacious and comfortable hotel room in an excellent location, right next to the Dongfengyun Scenic Area. Although the weather was not good and the photos were not satisfactory, the unique architectural style of the scenic area still left a deep impression on us. The Yangshusheng Restaurant was praised by the whole family, with a variety of delicious dishes that brought joy to our reunion. Although we couldn't soak in the hot springs, it left a regret that also planted the seeds for a future reunion. This trip was especially warm because of the company of our family. The advantage of having a large group is that we can order a variety of special dishes when eating, not missing a single one. Everyone worked together to finish every meal, with laughter echoing in every corner. Although it snowed on the first day of our departure, it did not affect our mood at all, but rather added a touch of romance to the trip. The moment I stepped on the walkway, I felt both excited and a bit nervous. Through the transparent glass, I could clearly see the cliffs below, as if I were floating in the air. The skyscrapers of the city seemed so tiny at this moment. At first, I walked cautiously, but as I gradually adapted, I began to fully enjoy this unique perspective and thrilling experience. I even forgot that I was walking on such a high glass walkway. Standing at the edge of the glass walkway, the view was extremely wide. The rolling mountains in the distance contrasted beautifully with the blue sky and white clouds. On rainy days, both the cable car and the glass walkway are closed. Be sure to choose a day without rain. Prepare comfortable, non-slip sports shoes and a lightweight backpack, as well as a sun-protective jacket. Bring enough water and some snacks to replenish energy. There are very few restaurants selling things on the mountain. If you choose to hike up the mountain, it takes about 1.5-2 hours to reach the top. However, I personally do not recommend hiking up as it is hard on the knees, especially for the elderly and children. You need to wear shoe covers to enter the glass walkway. It is recommended to wear non-slip shoes to avoid falling. Tickets are purchased via mobile phone scan. Seniors aged 65 and above should bring their ID cards for free entry. There are self-service lockers at the entrance, so don't lose the locker receipt. We stayed at Bisezhai for three hours in the morning and drove to Gejiu City in the afternoon, a journey of about 50 kilometers. The reason we wanted to go to Gejiu was to see if this once tin-rich city, now resource-depleted, had undergone a significant transformation, reborn like a phoenix into a livable place. Our first thought was to visit the Gejiu City Museum, where we could conveniently obtain comprehensive information. Strangely, the rather large Gejiu Museum did not have a sign, so much so that we were already in front of the building and still asking people for its location. The museum's exhibits mainly focus on two themes: 'A Millennium of Tin' and 'Exploring Ancient Ben'. Gejiu, as the Tin Capital, has a history of a thousand years, and Ben Gu was the ancient name during the Western Han Dynasty when counties were established in the Gejiu and Mengzi areas. Surprisingly, this county-level museum houses four national first-class cultural relics, including a Han Dynasty bronze peacock lamp and a bronze kettle with a handle, eight second-class relics, and 128 third-class relics, which is quite impressive. Next to the museum is Jinhu Cultural Square, transformed from a tailings pond, covering an area of 8.22 hectares, backed by Laoyin Mountain and facing Jinhu Lake. The square's landmarks include the stone sculpture of Hong Wang (the ancestor of tin mining in Gejiu), a 4-ton relief 'Treasure Tripod of Tin Mountain,' and two 6.23-meter-high, 2-ton relief auspicious tin pillars 'White Ape Offering Treasure' and 'Golden Snake Showing Wealth.' Gejiu City is surrounded by mountains, with the city encircling the lake, enjoying spring-like weather all year round. Without large-scale tin industry and pollution, it is said that housing prices and living costs are very affordable, making it indeed suitable for living. We only planned a brief stay in Gejiu that day, but we might visit again in the future to explore Laoyin Mountain Scenic Area, Baohua Mountain Park, or even stay longer to enjoy life there.

Encountering the tin city of Gejiu, I felt a secret joy in my heart. I love the cool sensation it brings, I love the traces of high-rise buildings built around the lake, I love that it is surrounded by mountains— The forest protects the buildings, and the buildings lean on the lake.
