I am on the lookout for special food and snacks with a history background. There are two curry puffs stores in Hong Lim Food Centre with history. In fact, they are related but were separated because of personal reasons. Both stores claim to be the original recipe stores. Back in the olden days, their father were selling curry puffs and became one of the famous curry puffs in Singapore. Yes, that famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa at Hong Lim food centre. From its name, you can tell how it was being sold in the early days, on a trishaw at Sungei road. Now you can get the same tasty laksa in a nicer environment. There are 3 items on the menu, mee rebus, mee siam and laksa and this stall has received the Michelin Bib Gourmand award too. Everyone will order their laksa and you can choose the size and option of having cockles too. One of my favourite curry chicken noodles at Hong Lim food centre, there are a few stalls here and this stall is on level 2. This stall is Ah Heng curry chicken bee hoon mee. I will suggest you choose the noodles mixture for your curry chicken noodles, which is a mixture of yellow noodles and bee hoon (vermicelli). There are 3 types of noodle sizes to choose from. The curry is not really spicy and if you want it to be spicier, you can add more chilli. I enjoy eating delicious food from our hawker centres especially when I am on staycation. When I am at Parkroyal Collection Pickering, I will go over to Hong Lim food centre. One of my favourite hawker stalls at Hong Lim food centre, the Granny’s pancake which is min chiang kueh and it has a few choices for you to choose from. You can choose from peanuts, peanut butter, coconut and red beans. It is a big pie and the stallholder will cut it accordingly. There is also a sign saying you are unable to choose the sides you want. So it is all random. Although I will prefer the edge as it has the crispy side but I will be happy with any side too. You can end up in a long queue if you come during peak hours or when there is someone in front of you making a lot of orders. Usually, I will have one piece to dine in and take away the rest. Be sure to come early or wait a long time in the queue. It is very ebay to find them from their brightly purple colour signboard. They specialise in wanton mee, a soup or dry version of noodles with dumplings. They are recommended by Michelin’s recommended food. There are different price tiers and when you are in the queue for too long, you will end up over-ordering wanton mee. You will make payment using the cash collecting machine which will give you change. There is no e-wallet or online payment here. Besides wanton mee, you can also try their braised soya sauce chicken noodles. You can also add on their chicken cutlet as a side dish too.

Once you have alighted at the Chinatown train station, walk through the Chinatown point, and then exit at the burger king exit to reach this Hong Lim food centre . DDSD is known for its beancurd-based desserts and drinks, offering a variety of options from traditional soy milk to brown sugar boba soy milk, along with innovative beancurd creations like red bean & peach gum beancurd, tangyuan beancurd, and black sesame beancurd. They use non-GMO soybeans, freshly handmade each day, with no preservatives, artificial coloring, or dairy—ensuring a wholesome and authentic experience with every dish. The Rainbow Tangyuan is a seasonal delicacy, typically available only during festive occasions like the Winter Solstice or Lantern Festival. We were fortunate enough to try it this time, as it’s not always on the menu. The tangyuan features four vibrant colors, naturally derived from ingredients like pumpkin, pandan, and beetroot, paired with two classic sesame-filled ones. It's a playful and colorful twist on a traditional dessert. The tangyuan rests on a smooth, creamy base of homemade soy beancurd, which adds a delicate texture that perfectly complements the chewy dumplings. To enhance the experience, we added peach gum, which brought an extra layer of texture and depth to the dish. DDSD also offers a variety of toppings like refreshing grass jelly, crunchy grated peanut, gingko nuts, and rich black sesame sauce, along with a selection of sweeteners, including ginger sugar, gula melaka, and traditional white sugar. #mysgmemories Can lah! Let’s go makan! Did you know there is a hawker center right next to PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering within walking distance? Yes, this is Hong Lim hawker center, and it has some of the famous food stalls in Singapore. You can always find long queues at their Bak Chor mee, Char Kway Teow, Curry puffs, Wanton Mee and many others. You will need a few trips here in order to finish. When I am here, I will have lunch here before bringing some snacks for the hardworking staff at the hotel. They are always busy and even if the hawker center is next to them, they do not have the luxury of waiting in queue.

I will never run out of food choices at Hong Lim food centre. This is one of my favourite stalls too. But it is harder to order from them because they only operate during weekdays. They sell mainly western food and their duck confit is a must order here. You can choose it with spaghetti or with mashed potatoes. Chef Eddy will cook it to perfection, crispy and tasty too. He is a very nice guy and you can always say hello to him and he will definitely hello you back. The idea of selling restaurant style food in a hawker centre means that you will be paying less despite not having a nice restaurant ambience. See this food restaurant at one of the social media, decide to visit for the delicious food Cantonese Delights is at Hong Lim food court, a four minutes walk from Chinatown station purple line. Hong lim complex got a numbers of marvelous food to visit. Cantonese Delights is at unit number #02-03, open from 1000-1430, Saturday and Sunday closed. I had order number of foods from this stall, curry chicken cullet noodle, laska yong tau foo, wanton soup, dumplings soup, cha siew and chicken feet. Chicken cullet taste good, yellow noodle is a better combination with curry, but i choose mee kia. Chicken feet cook well, soft and tender. Laska yong tau foo soup taste good, especially must order the pig skin roll.
