The "2023 Hong Kong Science Festival" organized by the Science Extension Group of the Hong Kong Science Museum will be held from March 31 to April 16, with the theme of "Always Be Reasonable". The Hong Kong Science Museum was first conceived by the Urban Council in 1976.The council hired American firm E. Verner Johnson and Associates in 1984 to help plan the museum.Three more design firms were later engaged to work on the exhibits: West Office Design, Toshihiko Sakow Associates, and Levy Design. In 1986, the council hired Hong Kong architecture firm Palmer and Turner to design the museum. It was built by Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited. Construction began in March 1988 and was completed in November 1990.The museum cost HK$340 million. It was officially opened by Governor David Wilson on 18 April 1991. In 2000, the Urban Council was disbanded, and management of the museum became the responsibility of the newly formed.

The price to get in isn’t expensive. There is lots to see and worth paying the little extra for the Winter Olympics Exhibition, that is great fun for both children and adults. The big energy exhibition which runs on the top floor every now and again throughout the day was fascinating. We had good fun with the mirrors. The Museum is next to the History Museum. 👍🏻 The crown jewel "Energy Machine": I came specifically for this, the world's largest energy machine. It was an eye-opener even for an adult like me. Although I've seen many similar devices, such large-scale ones are indeed rare, and I found it quite interesting! However, the only problem is: the entire energy machine is divided into sections A and B. There are quite a few spectators. If you occupy a good spot in section A and want to move to section B after watching half of it, you definitely won't be able to squeeze in, so you can only watch half of the show. It's quite unsatisfying unless you visit multiple times. 🔸 Children's Play Area: This was an unexpectedly fun place, especially for the kids who came along. They had a blast with the simple yet educational games, each requiring the children to get hands-on and understand basic mechanical principles. 🔸 Biodiversity: It's a bit like a small-scale natural history museum, with animal specimens from the African savannah and a plethora of butterflies and bees. If it weren't for seeing so many at once here, I wouldn't have known that butterflies come in so many different forms. 🔸 Mirror Maze: This is a brilliant demonstration of the use of mirrors, showing how different mirrors, placed and assembled at different angles, can create so many fascinating mirror worlds. ✔️ All in all, no matter the age of the children or students, everyone can find something of interest at the Hong Kong Science Museum. It's definitely worth the visit!
