The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art hosts a variety of exhibitions 😄 A wide range of prestigious exhibitions are often held, from anime exhibitions to calligraphy and art exhibitions ✨ When I visited, there was a calligraphy exhibition by a Hokkaido Cultural Merit Award winner, so I went to see it! A nice art museum having a good, (relatively small) collection of modern Japanese paintings, worth a visit if this has interest. At the same we visited, the museum also hosted a couple of other temporary exhibitions of contemporary Japanese artists. Both excellent and popular judging from a massive number of visitors for these. The biggest issue is that essentially everything is only in Japanese, so it is hard to get a more detailed understanding of the paintings. But if Sapporo and you have an hour to spend, try it out. #GiveThanks

The cherry blossoms at Mini Odori Park, located about 5 minutes away from the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art in Sapporo, were in full bloom. The Hokkaido Governor's Official Residence is also nearby. The museum's shop is a little less attractive than usual for modern art museums, as it occupies the central hall way. But the Museum features as nice seating area and a small restaurant on the second floor.
