Reminiscing about Hokkaido for a whole year.
📌 Ultimate Lazy Guide to Hokkaido (5 days 4 nights)
Day 1: Fly from Tokyo to Hokkaido
🍣 Dinner: Toriton Sushi Maruyama Conveyor Belt Sushi (Fresh ingredients and affordable prices)
Day 2: Sapporo 🚃 Otaru 🚃 Otaru
P3 View: Get off at Otaru and check out the seaside. There's a small path next to the famous Polar Bear Cafe where you can walk in and see the snow and sea directly.
P4 View: Keep walking to the right of the Polar Bear Cafe to reach the seaside. You have to cross a thick layer of snow, but there's a clear path made by people. Just follow the crowd!
Otaru Route: Minami-Otaru Station ➡️ Music Box Museum ➡️ Otaru Shopping Street ➡️ Otaru Canal ➡️ Mt. Tengu (We skipped part of the route due to laziness. We took a taxi from Otaru Canal to Mt. Tengu, costing 72 RMB for three people)
❗️ Otaru Tips:
1. One day is enough!
2. Highly recommend Mt. Tengu if the weather is good, it's very beautiful.
🍖 Dinner: Avoid Sumibi Yakiya (The worst BBQ I've had in Japan)
Day 3: Tanukikoji Shopping Street ➡️ Hokkaido University ➡️ Hokkaido Supermarket ➡️ Sapporo Station Shopping (This route is a bit boring)
🐟 Lunch: Shihachi Fresh Fish Shop North 24th Street
〒001-0024 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Kita Ward, North 24th Street, West 2nd Block, 1-13 Bears Building 1F Bears 24 Building
(Very delicious and affordable, recommended)
Hokkaido University: Went to the Owl Cafe, had pudding and milk (average taste)
Hokkaido Supermarket: Randomly found a large supermarket near Hokkaido University. Highly recommend visiting supermarkets in Japan! The sushi and sashimi are delicious and cheap. We originally went to collect and taste all kinds of Hokkaido milk but couldn't find them all.
❗️ Tips: If you love Hokkaido milk, head straight to Mike Stand at New Chitose Airport for a full variety.
🍜 Dinner: Ramen Ichiryuan
〒060-0004 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, North 4th Street West, 1st Block, 1st Building, Hokuren Building Basement 1st Floor
(Rich ramen, their specialty is ramen with scrambled eggs)
Day 4: Sleep in ➡️ Hokkaido Shrine ➡️ Sapporo Factory
🍛 Lunch: Soup Curry: Picante (Hokkaido Shrine Entrance Store)
(Highly recommended, this soup curry is extremely delicious, the chicken leg is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, I still miss the taste)
Hokkaido Shrine: Optional visit, there are many people drawing on trees with snow, quite cute.
Sapporo Factory: Paradise for outdoor enthusiasts (Montbell, Arc'teryx)
Dinner: Kushidori (Chain store, search for the nearest one)
(Very tasty and affordable!)

Hokkaido Shrine in Sapporo, Japan
This is one of the few places in Sapporo where you can have a traditional experience. You can also draw an omikuji (fortune slip) here, so prepare a 100 yen coin, put it in the box, and draw your fortune. The staff nearby can also exchange coins for you :) If you get a bad result, it's customary to tie it to the wooden frame next to it.

유리여행기록
After a trip to Hokkaido, my perspective on spending has completely changed.
|||Snowflakes, hot springs ♨️, sunsets 🌅, and swans - all the beauty you can imagine in winter is gathered here in snowy Hokkaido.
I strongly recommend booking hotels in advance if you're planning to visit Hokkaido‼️ Nobody told me that a night in a hot spring hotel in Hokkaido during winter could cost over 4,000 yuan 🥹🥹. If you're planning a winter trip to Hokkaido, I suggest reading this guide before you set off.
[Pre-trip Advice]
❶ Don't worry too much about language barriers. Using simple English words ➕ hand gestures is generally understandable. ❌ Avoid using long sentences. Get a translation app, and a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and English works perfectly fine‼️
❷ If you want to see snow, focus solely on Hokkaido. A 5-7 day itinerary is fine. Hokkaido is vast with a sparse population, and attractions are far apart. Public transportation can be time-consuming, so it's recommended to rent a car or join a car-sharing service with friends.
❸ It's also good to exchange some yen for use in small shops (especially ramen shops). There are currency exchange machines and counters everywhere, so don't worry. Otaru is small, 📸 but every photo captures a romantic atmosphere. It's quite expensive, so I suggest a day trip from Sapporo to Otaru! Remember to sit on the right side of the train for amazing sea views.
[Some Notes]
‼️ Don't make phone calls, video calls, or play music out loud on trains and subways. It's really, really quiet. I've seen Japanese people secretly answering calls, but it's truly rare.
‼️ Don't eat strongly flavored foods. On long-distance trips like the Shinkansen, you can buy bento boxes. Although they're cold, I can attest that they taste quite good.
[About Transportation]
Airport buses are really slow, even in good weather conditions. It takes [about an hour and a half] from Sapporo city hotels. I recommend taking the JR for return flights; for arrival, you can choose the bus 🚌.
[About Attractions]
Sapporo: Hokkaido Shrine, Odori Park, Sapporo TV Tower, Hokkaido University, Sapporo Clock Tower, Sapporo International Ski Resort ⛷️
Otaru: Otaru Sakaimachi Street, Funami Slope, Mt. Tengu, Otaru Canal
Biei: Blue Pond, Shirahige Waterfall, Biei Christmas Tree 🎄
Furano: Forest Fairy 🧚 Terrace
[Clothing Guide]
🧥 Upper body: Thermal wear + fleece-lined inner layer/down vest + long down jacket, or fleece + light down. It's about -6 to -7°C, but it doesn't feel too cold. Indoor spaces are heated.
👖 Pants: Fleece-lined thick pants or thermal underwear ➕ regular pants are sufficient.
🧣 Others: Bring gloves 🧤, hats, scarves, and earmuffs for warmth and style!
🥾 Shoes: Three must-haves for snow - waterproof, non-slip, and warm. You can buy anti-slip pads at FamilyMart and Lawson convenience stores in Sapporo.
[Itinerary Suggestions]
👉 For snow and hot springs ♨️, take the western Hokkaido route: Start from Sapporo, visit Otaru, then Lake Toya, enjoy hot springs in Noboribetsu, and return to Sapporo.
👉 For a more in-depth experience with more attractions, take the eastern route: Sapporo - Asahikawa - Biei Town - Furano - Hoshino. Attractions are far apart, so independent travelers should allow more time for transportation.
👉 If you want to visit Asahikawa Zoo 🐧, Blue Pond in Biei, or Furano area, it's recommended to rent a car 🚗. JR trains are available, but with fixed schedules. This route offers top-tier snow experiences.

Make a wish at Hokkaido-Jingu
Been to Japan several times but this was my first time in Sapporo Hokkaido prefecture. Visited the Hokkaido-Jingu shrine and it is enthralling to learn about its history and congregational culture of the area.
One of my favourite thing is the tying of of the omikuji and the Japanese architecture of the shrine. It was beautifully crafted and you may also want to get some seasonal souvenirs to bring back home for yourself of for your loved ones.
Getting to the place was easy by JR train. If going from Sapporo station it’ll only take around 15-25mins.
Make sure to stop by at the stalls along the way for some Japanese street food snacks like takoyaki, beef bbq tried it loved it, and okonomiyaki.
I believe the best time to come is during the sakura season and the golden week as it will be less crowded and you’ll enjoy numerous variety of cherry blossom they are beautiful.
Let me know your experience and thoughts about this place if you have already visit or any questions you may want to know about going to this place for the first time.
Happy travels! ♥️#japan #tripblazers #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #passionpassport #2023travelwish #explorejapan

It's snowy winter all over the world, why should we go to Hokkaido!
❄️ Because of the snow in Hokkaido, you look forward to it, it will come. The maritime climate nourishes Hokkaido all year round, and when it cools down, the continuous heavy snow falls.
❄️ Because the snow in Hokkaido contains 95% of the air, it is very clean. It can sweep away all the dust in the world, together with the bad mood of the whole year; the blue sky and the streets after the snow are clear, and the air is pure and fresh.

In 2020, go to Hokkaido to see the first snow ❄️ When the heavy snow, open-air wind and arms with long crab legs are combined, you will find that it is really a happy thing to do humans ~
The third time I go to Hokkaido, no longer check in Attractions, but choose a good hotel to bathe, aimlessly stroll in the street, snow in the warm cafe to enjoy the snow, especially romantic and beautiful!

But only in winter, Hokkaido is more like a fairy tale … ⛄️⛄️⛄️In the impression, the snow in Hokkaido is soft and passionate. Even if the entire city is covered with white, few people use "spectacular" to describe it ... It's like a crystal ball, flying with snowflakes, but it can always Let you see the city, the most essential look ...

In October, the trip to Hokkaido Shrine, covered in maple Leaves is hidden in the round mountain park of Sapporo, was beyond amazing. It runs along with the big stone bird and passes through the Suomumu Shrine. I used to come in winter because the snow looks heavenly and I thought it was better. It is the Hokkaido Shrine, so I went back. This time the weather is good. I will continue to move forward and finally come to Hokkaido Shrine. I do not need tickets. It is slightly different from the architecture of other Japanese shrines. It is a bit like a windmill roof and should be a feature of the Hokkaido region. In the morning, many Japanese people come to pray, and the wishing card has a cute bear on it. It is actually more expensive than other shrines. The same Sakura bell is 800 yen here, and other shrines are 500. It may be particularly effective. There is also a self-service 200 yen for signing, and there is a cute gold lucky cat in the paper, which is really adorable.

For those who are into spiritual practices, this is the place for you. Even when traveling abroad, you can't miss out on spiritual activities. We are fighters at Hokkaido Shrine, one of the oldest and most important shrines that spiritual enthusiasts must not miss. It's easy to get to, located in Sapporo city. Not only is it famous for spiritual practices, but its beauty is also unmatched. The surrounding area is filled with pine trees, pavilions, and ponds. When I visited, it was snowing, and it was incredibly beautiful. The weather was very cold.

The Mystique of Winter, Hokkaido Shrine
Hokkaido Shrine, located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, is a place where you can fully experience the charm of winter. The serene atmosphere amidst the snow-covered scenery is captivating. The beautiful architecture of the shrine harmonizes with the surrounding nature, and in winter, the white snow makes the shrine even more mystical. During my visit, I enjoyed a quiet walk and found peace of mind in the sacred space. I also had the opportunity to make a wish with a prayer and experienced the local specialty, the hot springs. Hokkaido Shrine offers unforgettable memories for a winter trip.

The Charm of Night, Hokkaido Shrine Tongu
Visiting the Hokkaido Shrine Tongu in Sapporo at night was truly special. The serene atmosphere, illuminated by traditional lanterns, highlighted the shrine's beauty. The tranquil scenery under the night sky made me forget the noise of everyday life. The large tree in front of the shrine and the sight of people praying gave a sacred feeling, and the peace of that moment will not be forgotten. Walking along the quiet paths was particularly helpful in finding peace of mind. Hokkaido Shrine is a place with a different charm at night, and I definitely want to visit again. The reverence and beauty felt here were truly special.

The winter getaway
#weekendgetaways
I've had this most beautiful weekend last winter. It was short and practically spent in Sapporo. What works for it is that Sapporo is stunning in the winters. Head to Odori park and see the Sapporo snow festival, you'll know for yourself.
There are plenty of places to touch like the Hokkaido shirine, the clock tower, the beer museum , tanukukoji street, shiroi kobito park, Niko market and so on.
Not to forget the ramen as well. Food is never left out when you're on a trip to anywhere in Japan. Sapporo might be slightly pricier to get to, but it's a beautiful winter weekend gateway that awaits you.

Checked in at Hokkaido Jingu in Japan.
Hokkaido Jingu (Japanese: ほっかいどうじんぐう) is a Shinto shrine located in the Chuo Ward of Sapporo, Hokkaido. During the early days of Hokkaido's development, the region was often compared with Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, and other areas. The branch shrine within Hokkaido Jingu, known as the 'Kaitaku Shrine', enshrines a group of individuals who made significant contributions to the development of Hokkaido (such as Yoshitake Shima and Rinzo Mamiya).
Hokkaido Jingu is a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing in Japan, and due to the climate, plum and cherry blossoms bloom at the same time, which is a rare and spectacular sight! There are about 1,400 cherry trees and 250 plum trees within the shrine, making it a very popular tourist spot in Hokkaido.
The guardian deity that blesses the development of Hokkaido and the happiness of its people is still closely related to the lives of the residents. Traditional rituals are held during New Year visits, exorcisms, Setsubun, weddings, and other occasions. The shrine is surrounded by lush greenery, and you can even spot squirrels from time to time, making it a worthwhile place to check in.
Address: 474 Miyagaoka, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido

Hokkaido Jingu
Established in 1869, the centrepiece of the Main Shrine is an impressive A-framed building whose gold embellishments positively sparkle on a bright Winter's day. I was particularly fascinated by the wooden frame with wires that devotees tied their "wishes"/prayers around.
Set in Maruyama Park and approached along the Cherry Tree Boulevard from the 2nd Shrine Gate, the Hokkaido Jingu Shinto Shrine is probably impressive whatever season you choose to visit.
I want to visit this place again.

Hokkaido Shrine: A Must-Visit in Sapporo
If you're planning a trip to Hokkaido, Japan, be sure to add Hokkaido-jingu Shrine to your itinerary. This beautiful Shinto shrine is located in the heart of Sapporo and is one of the most popular attractions in the city.
Hokkaido-jingu Shrine was built in 1869 to honor the gods of Hokkaido and to pray for the prosperity of the region. The shrine's architecture is a blend of traditional Japanese and Western styles, with a beautiful red gate, a main hall, and a worship hall. The shrine is surrounded by a tranquil forest, making it a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.
One of the main reasons to visit Hokkaido-jingu Shrine is to experience the traditional Japanese culture and customs. Visitors can participate in a purification ritual, where they cleanse their hands and mouth with water before entering the shrine. They can also write their wishes on wooden plaques called ema and hang them on the shrine's walls.
Another reason to visit the Shrine is to witness the beautiful seasonal events that take place throughout the year. In the spring, the shrine's cherry blossoms are in full bloom, creating a stunning pink canopy. In the fall, the shrine's maple trees turn brilliant shades of red and orange, creating a breathtaking display of autumn colors.
Overall, Hokkaido-jingu Shrine is a must-visit attraction in Sapporo. Whether you're interested in Japanese culture, history, or simply want to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, Hokkaido Shrine is definitely worth a visit.
