The city of Córdoba, immersed in the river of historical dreams
Córdoba, another cultural heritage city, is located in Andalucía. The old town boasts many unforgettable architectural sites. The historic center of Córdoba retains the medieval layout and the peculiar narrow streets, squares, avenues, beautiful fountains, and exquisite gardens that are cleverly integrated into the urban landscape. The city is built along the winding riverbanks.
The Great Mosque-Cathedral⛪️Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba is the iconic building of Córdoba, divided into two main parts: the courtyard and the mosque. It was originally built in 785 AD, and the reconstruction and expansion projects continued for several centuries. After the Christian kingdom recaptured Córdoba, a Gothic church was built inside the Great Mosque, but the Islamic architectural style was largely preserved.
We were also fortunate to experience the Alma de Córdoba show at night, which used light and shadow to highlight the weight of history! Following the light path, we delved into the different historical and artistic styles of the Great Mosque! It was very worthwhile!
The beautiful view of the tower from the flower-laden narrow streets is a popular photo spot here. Many residential courtyards have won awards during the Courtyard Festival. We happened to visit during the festival, and every household opened their doors for people to admire and evaluate, decorating their balconies, outer walls, and courtyards with great effort. Such beautiful alleys with blooming flowers can be seen everywhere.
The Viana Palace Palacio de Viana is also a very representative award-winning courtyard, showcasing many historical items, and several different styles of courtyard landscapes that are also stunning!
The Roman Bridge Puerta Del Puente is a great place to view the cityscape from afar and is also a very romantic place for a stroll.
We also found two great restaurants here 🍴Restaurant Bandolero and Restaurant Hermita La Candelaria, both of which have very distinctive dining environments.
At Restaurant Tablao El Jaleo, besides the delicious food, I also enjoyed my first Flamenco show in a cool setting. You can't truly understand the performers' expressions on stage without experiencing it firsthand, and it brought tears to my eyes! The audience's enthusiasm was equally high! The atmosphere was fantastic!
