There were multiple escalators connecting to the top. The view from the escalator was amazing. Enter through the Hie shrine sanno torii which is where the escalators are. We also tried the other entrance on the other side, the other one consists of many stairs. There are also many interesting installations in the area. One of them resembles Fushimi Inari in Kytoto. #meettokyo One of the most beautiful shrines in Tokyo. This shrine is very photogenic especially near the stairs with the red torii gates behind the shrine(different from the main entrance). They have an outdoor escalator towards the main entrance(of course you can take the stairs too). I highly recommend to visit here if the stairs doesn't bother you. Lovely shrine hidden in the hustle and bustle of the city. The monkey statues throughout are worth a visit!

The shrine is free to visit and although it opens at 6am, there are no gates so technically you could visit the grounds at any time. There are several sets of stairs to reach the shrine, but it is also accessible via an escalator from the main street below or via car. If you only have time to visit one shrine in Tokyo, I would recommend Hie Shrine to see the tunnel of 90 red torii gates. #Japan #Tokyo
