📍Het Steen is located in Antwerp, Belgium This medieval castle was built in the 13th century🏰 Located on the banks of the Scheldt River, we discovered it accidentally when we were in Antwerp! This was once an important fortification that protected the city. Symbolizing the solidity and history of Antwerp There is a giant statue guarding the entrance of the castle, as if to prevent invasion. Taking photos with this castle always feels like the castle of a fairy tale princess🤣 And outside Stern Castle You can stroll along the beautiful riverside promenade and enjoy the panoramic view of the castle🌅 Steen Castle is located near Antwerp Central Station Just a few minutes walk to Steen Castle Why not set aside some time to visit! #globaltravel

Het Steen is one of the oldest castles in Europe and also one of the largest ancient castles, located in the old town center of Antwerp. The castle was built in 1200 as a fortress by the Roman Empire. 'Steen' in Dutch means 'stone', hence the name Stone Castle. In the 16th century, Charles V transformed the castle into a city gate that connected to the city walls, and it was later used as a prison, until it became a museum in the 19th century. Today's Het Steen is no longer as it was in the past.
