Folk Park Historical Village (Heritage Park Historical Village) is located next to Glenmore Reservoir in the southwest of Calgary. It is the largest 'living' historical village in Canada and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Calgary.
Folk Park Historical Village is a reconstructed historical village that reflects the lifestyle of the western frontier period before 1914. It vividly recreates the scenes of the fur trade in the 1860s and the original life of the western residents at that time.
At the entrance, there is an old-fashioned steam train that circles the park. It is said that this antique train was used in the movie 'Doctor Zhivago,' making it a signature attraction of the park.
We first took the steam train from Midnapore Station at the entrance to Shepard Station, where there is a quaint street. More than 150 shops, companies, and firms are distributed on both sides, most of which are original buildings dismantled from various places and reassembled here. This allows visitors to deeply experience the culture here. From here, you can take a steamship to tour the Glenmore Reservoir. After landing, you can take a carriage to slowly savor other attractions in the historical village.
