Hemu Village is a small village situated in Kanas Nature Reserve in Altay, northern Xinjiang. It is the most remote and largest of the three habitats of the Tuvas, an ethnic group who still live a simple, ancient lifestyle by grazing animals and hunting. It has been voted by a travel magazine as one of the five most beautiful villages in China. The scenery during winter is exceptionally beautiful. The entire experience is enhanced by the beautiful rustic surroundings that are shrouded in a thick veil of white fluffy soft snow. Hemu, known as 'God's own reserve', is filled with an ancient and mysterious fairy tale charm. It is also the most comfortable place in the Altay region, at least that's how I feel. On the way to Hemu village, we also encountered the masters of this land - the sheep. Everyone has to stop for the flock of sheep to pass first, as it is a rule that must be followed here.
