Day 1: Arriving in Tainan, encountering the food and local customs for the first time
After our trip from Kaohsiung, we took the high speed rail from Zuoying to Tainan. It was around 11 noon when we arrived. After checking out, we took a short rest and then took the train to Tainan High Speed Rail Station. After the transfer, we arrived smoothly at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan Hotel next to Tainan Railway Station.
At 14:30, we checked in and were lucky enough to get a free room upgrade! It was a real surprise, especially when red wine was delivered to the room, which added a touch of warmth to our trip to Tainan. At this moment, all the fatigue was swept away and my mood suddenly became much happier.
After a short rest, we changed our clothes and started our first stop in Tainan - Shennong Street. This street is one of the most historic old streets in Tainan, and its streets and alleys are full of traditional charm and cultural and creative atmosphere. The small shops are filled with various handicrafts and unique snacks, and you can feel the strong local cultural atmosphere just by walking around. We were a little hungry, so we randomly found a "Hong Mama Stinky Hotpot". Although it is just a street stall, the taste amazed us. The spicy soup base and unique taste made people become regular customers after trying it.
In the evening, we went to Wusheng Night Market, which is one of the famous night markets in Tainan. Visiting the night market is always full of surprises, but the most memorable thing for me is 12 fresh oysters for only 200 yuan! These oysters are extremely fresh. When you take a bite, the sea breeze and delicious seafood flavor seem to rush into your mouth instantly. It’s really a great value for money! There are a wide variety of snacks in the night market, including spicy chicken feet, braised food, chicken chops... Each one is very appetizing. We ate while walking and couldn't stop at all. The average consumption per person was about 1,000 yuan, and we really spent a pleasant night surrounded by delicious food and a lively atmosphere.
Day 2: Tainan’s Tradition and Modernity
The next morning, we got up early to try Tainan's local breakfast. At about 9 o'clock, we arrived at [Xi Luodian Beef Soup]. The hot beef soup accompanied by the cool morning air is simply satisfying. The beef is tender and the soup is rich, with every bite revealing the strong flavor of Tainan. After eating the beef soup, we went to the stall next to it and bought a cup of soy milk, which was only 20 yuan! Simple delicacies always bring the warmest touch.
After breakfast, we took a slow walk to Tainan Confucius Temple and Hayashi Department Store. In the ancient city of Tainan, it seems that every brick and tile is filled with history. In the Confucius Temple, we felt the strong cultural atmosphere and took a few beautiful photos to record the tranquility and solemnity.
Return to the hotel before noon to take a short rest and prepare to go to [Bomei Museum] and [Shigu Cultural Village]. After taking the train to Baoan Station, we walked for about 15-20 minutes to the [Pomegranate Museum]. Although time was tight and we had purchased tickets for the ten-drum tour, we were unable to visit the exhibition at the Bomei Museum, but its appearance and the environment of the park were still impressive. Outside is a spacious courtyard, full of greenery and art.
Next, we walked to the Ten Drum Cultural Village. The activities at Shigu Cultural Village tend to be parent-child entertainment, which is very suitable for bringing children to play. There are a wealth of interactive activities here, with melodious drum sounds and full of vitality. For adults, although the activities are a bit ordinary, they can still feel the unique cultural atmosphere here. After the tour, we walked back to the security station and found a noodle shop nearby that was surprisingly delicious. The noodles are delicate and the soup is refreshing. You can feel the delicacy and exquisiteness of Tainan food in every bite.
When we returned to the hotel in the evening, we had been walking all day and felt physically and mentally exhausted. So, we gave up our original plan to go to the Garden Night Market and decided to go to FamilyMart to buy some snacks and go back to the room to rest. Although we missed the night market, being able to relax made the day even more perfect.
Day 3: A new journey, set off to Xiaoliuqiu
At 11 a.m. on the third day, after checking out, we prepared to go to our next stop - Xiaoliuqiu with full of memories. Tainan’s food and history have been deeply engraved in my heart, and I look forward to more new discoveries and experiences on the upcoming journey.
