#chinatrip After visiting the 1000years temple - Hanshan Temple, there is this huge bell that is actually the sub-site of this temple. Reason being the chinese poem does mention the sound of the bell that reminded the poet about the arrival of the ship by the ship deck at late hour while waiting for someone that poet misses. The huge bell was covered in a small pagoda and were well kept for its purpose. To add-on, there is this huge stone carved with the poem about less than 200metres away. Strongly recommend to also visit this place before leaving to next destination.

The overall architecture of Hanshan Temple is in the Jiangnan garden style. The main existing buildings include the Main Hall, Sutra Library, Fengjiang Tower, Arhat Hall, Bell Tower, Stele Gallery, Puming Pagoda, etc. The Main Hall is a characteristic building of the Qing Dynasty, where statues of Sakyamuni, Kashyapa and Ananda are enshrined. Inside the hall are golden statues of the Eighteen Arhats, a statue of Hanshan, 12 stone carvings inscribed by poets of past dynasties, and a bronze bell symbolizing the friendship between China and Japan. The Arhat Hall houses 500 Arhat statues. The Puming Pagoda Courtyard is located behind the Sutra Library. It is a newly built building in recent years. The U-shaped floor plan has a Tang Dynasty style. The Puming Pagoda is in the center of the pagoda courtyard. It is a good place to enjoy the canal. The Hanshan temple is a really huge tourist location, it’s located towards the western part of Suzhou, this location is one that I found was really good for photography. you can see many different spots around the area that are highly photogenic. I Definitely recommend that you visit this place during the spring time, a time which I feel you would experience this temple at its finest. I visited this spot with my photography buddy and walked around and got these awesome shots. A question some people might ask is, why is it called the Hanshan temple. Well It is said that in the Tang Dynasty, a famous monk Han Shan came to take charge of the temple, hence its name. This place is known for its rich sense of history and culture such as the annual ringing of the temple bells to signify the entrance into the new year. This was one of the most aesthetically impressive places that I’ve been privileged to fly my drone at. this majestic place is located in the Gusu district of Suzhou China. This is a Buddhist temple and Monastery characterized by its wonderful Chinese structures and its rich traditions and culture. The current name of the monastery derives from Hanshan, the legendary monk and poet. Knowing all this, I was sure that I had to make the trip to see It for myself, and of course I took my drone with me so I would be able to get a unique perspective of the whole experience! 📍Hanshan Temple, Suzhou Hanshan Temple is also called “cold mountain temple”. It’s a Buddhist temple in Suzhou. This is one of my favorite temple. Even though I’m not a temple person, but I just like this temple. I like it because it’s just simple. Dominated by yellow and red. Not much decoration. It’s just simple and beautiful. I came here in December. It’s already cold enough and the leaves fell from the trees. The color of the leaves matched the temple (see my third pict). The camphor trees on both sides of the bluestone path have sprouted new buds, and the air is filled with the subtle fragrance of tea. The screen wall in front of the temple gate is simple and heavy, and the three large characters "Hanshan Temple" on the wall shimmer in the rain. Passing through the gate, the Mahavira Hall comes into view. Inside the hall, the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha gleams with golden light. The Eighteen Arhats on both sides are either naive and adorable or solemn and dignified, making people stop and take a closer look. Around the back of the hall, the stone statues of Hanshan and Shide gaze at each other quietly. Legend has it that they are the "Two Saints of Harmony," holding a clean vase and a lotus branch, as if whispering to each other. In the bell tower, the 108-ton ancient bell hangs from the beam, its surface covered with scriptures. I gently tap the wooden mallet, and the deep bell rings echo through the temple, startling a few white doves that fly over the eaves. In the stele gallery, the steles inscribed with the poem "Night Mooring Near Maple Bridge" written by calligraphers of various dynasties are arranged in sequence. The fragrance of ink mixes with the scent of rain, reminding people of Zhang Ji's line, "The midnight bell reaches the traveler's boat." When I leave the temple, the cherry blossoms and larkspurs are in full bloom. Pink and white petals fall on the bluestone road, contrasting with the cargo ships on the canal in the distance.
