🧎🏻 Dive into becoming Poet for a day
#chinatrip
After visiting the 1000years temple - Hanshan Temple, there is this huge bell that is actually the sub-site of this temple. Reason being the chinese poem does mention the sound of the bell that reminded the poet about the arrival of the ship by the ship deck at late hour while waiting for someone that poet misses.
The huge bell was covered in a small pagoda and were well kept for its purpose. To add-on, there is this huge stone carved with the poem about less than 200metres away. Strongly recommend to also visit this place before leaving to next destination.

A temple fulls of Chinese poem ♥️
#chinatrip
Located in Gusu district in Suzhou, Han Shan temple that built for over 1300 years, covering 13000 square meters is one of the top 10 famous temple in China. It has gained its popularity among the Chinese people because of a poem from a famous poet, Zhang Ji from Tang Dynasty and nowadays, it has been written all over the temples by many poets in variety of fonts.
Besides that, the temple is famous with a super giant bell that allows the believer to ring it and pray to get the blessing from the god. Right opposite of it, a super huge monument writing the poem on it is also towering over to commemorate ZhangJi.
If you travel to Suzhou, make sure you put it in your list and spend a least 2-3 hours to explore the poetic and picturesque place♥️

Hanshan Temple one of the top visited temples
Getting There - You can take a Didi to the entrance, the metro is around a 20 minute walk, there are local coaches and buses running too
Attractions - Although it's busy there's also a sense of calm between the madness, there's endless temples to look into and pay respect to the gods, fish in small ponds and a variety of statues
Hotels - There are most likely several hotels in this area however I didn't stay here, it'll be cheaper to stay outside the city center
Food & Restaurants - there are some small street food vendors outside selling local snacks and drinks
Price - 20 rmb per person

More sight from the Hanshan Temple!
The Hanshan temple is a really huge tourist location, it’s located towards the western part of Suzhou, this location is one that I found was really good for photography. you can see many different spots around the area that are highly photogenic.
I Definitely recommend that you visit this place during the spring time, a time which I feel you would experience this temple at its finest.
I visited this spot with my photography buddy and walked around and got these awesome shots.
One thing is that this spot can get pretty crowded. so many tourists and locals come to visit this spot which sometimes makes it really crowded so you have to find the right time to come if you mind having random tourists walk into your shot. #scenicspotguide #travelinspiration #momentsmission #unforgettableexperiences #springholiday

The pleasant sights of Hanshan temple!
These are a few more shots from my last trip to the Hanshan temple! where I went exploring around the Hanshan temple. the Hanshan Temple is situated three miles (about five kilometers) from Fengqiao Old Town in Suzhou.
A question some people might ask is, why is it called the Hanshan temple. Well It is said that in the Tang Dynasty, a famous monk Han Shan came to take charge of the temple, hence its name. This place is known for its rich sense of history and culture such as the annual ringing of the temple bells to signify the entrance into the new year.
Another thing you can do at Hanshan is to take a boat tour of the place to see the sights while enjoying the peaceful boat cruise!

The Hanshan Temple. Suzhou from Above!
This was one of the most aesthetically impressive places that I’ve been privileged to fly my drone at. this majestic place is located in the Gusu district of Suzhou China.
This is a Buddhist temple and Monastery characterized by its wonderful Chinese structures and its rich traditions and culture. The current name of the monastery derives from Hanshan, the legendary monk and poet.
Knowing all this, I was sure that I had to make the trip to see It for myself, and of course I took my drone with me so I would be able to get a unique perspective of the whole experience!
The general temple are was free to enter, except for the main temple which I could only properly capture from an aerial perspective. #suzhou #scenicspotguide #china #travelinspiration #temples #hanshantemple

📍Hanshan Temple, Suzhou
Hanshan Temple is also called “cold mountain temple”. It’s a Buddhist temple in Suzhou. This is one of my favorite temple. Even though I’m not a temple person, but I just like this temple. I like it because it’s just simple. Dominated by yellow and red. Not much decoration. It’s just simple and beautiful. I came here in December. It’s already cold enough and the leaves fell from the trees. The color of the leaves matched the temple (see my third pict). What a pretty combination

10. You'll definitely miss out on a lot if you don't visit Hanshan Temple in Suzhou!
Where were you at midnight on January 1, 2023, to welcome the New Year?
I was at the oldest temple in China - Hanshan Temple in Suzhou.
Hanshan Temple is one of the four famous temples of the Tang Dynasty and one of the three major Zen temples in China. It was built during the Tianjian period of the Southern Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,500 years. Hanshan Temple is known worldwide for the Tang poem "Maple Bridge Night Mooring" and is also known to the world for "Maple Bridge Night Mooring".
The most famous thing about Hanshan Temple is the bell. Every New Year's Eve, a bell-ringing ceremony is held in the temple. Each ring represents a year, a total of 108 times, symbolizing the removal of troubles and bad luck, and the arrival of good luck and happiness. It is said that as long as you make a wish when the bell rings, it will come true in the coming year.
The architectural layout of Hanshan Temple is rigorous, simple and elegant, with halls and pavilions staggered and orderly. Among them, the main hall is the main building of the temple, enshrining the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. There are also eighteen Arhat halls and Guanyin halls on both sides. There are also many cultural relics and historical sites in the temple, such as stone pagodas from the Tang Dynasty, bronze bells from the Song Dynasty, and murals from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, all of which are precious historical and cultural heritage.
There is also a special place in Hanshan Temple, that is, the monks of Hanshan Temple. They are diligent in their practice, compassionate, and provide a peaceful and peaceful place for believers to pray.
If you come to Hanshan Temple on New Year's Eve, you will definitely be infected by the atmosphere here, feel the joy of the New Year and people's good wishes for the future. Here, you can pray for the safety of your family, the smooth progress of your career, the progress of your studies, and everything goes well. I wish everyone a successful year in the new year!

From Hanshan Temple to Maple Bridge at Night: The thousand-year influence of a poem.
[Hanshan Temple] is located at the west end of Fengqiao Road outside Changmen in the west of Suzhou City. The temple faces east and west, and the gate faces the ancient canal. It was originally part of Fengqiao Town. It was first built during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Dynasty Liang (502-519), when Buddhism was prevalent, and was originally named Miaoli Puming Pagoda Courtyard. During the Tang Zhen Guan period (627-649), the Tiantai poet monk Hanshan (self-proclaimed Hanshanzi) from Zhejiang once lived here. The famous Tang Dynasty monk Xiqian Zen master created a Jialan here, so it was named "Hanshan Temple".
The architectural layout of Hanshan Temple does not have a strict central axis. The temple's buildings include the Daxiong Hall, the Sutra Building, the Bell Tower, the Stele Gallery, the Fengjiang Building, and the Frost Bell Pavilion. There are courtyards everywhere in the temple, which are staggered and connected. The Daxiong Hall enshrines the golden Buddha statue of Shiyi Muni Buddha, and the eighteen cast iron gilt Arhat statues cast during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty are enshrined on both sides of the wall. The stone carvings of Hanshan and Shide in the Tang Dynasty are enshrined behind the Buddha statue. The bell tower is located on the south side of the Sutra Building. It is a hexagonal double-eave pavilion with a two-ton ancient bell. On New Year's Eve every year, people gather at Hanshan Temple to listen to the 108 bells from the bell tower to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new.
The poetry stele of Hanshan Temple is also a major feature. The most famous is Zhang Ji's "Maple Bridge Night Mooring" poetry stele, written by the famous scholar Yu Yue in the late Qing Dynasty. In addition, Hanshan Temple also has legends about the "Harmony and Two Immortals" Hanshan and Shide. Their stories and images are widely circulated among the people, and Hanshan Temple has also become a symbol of harmony and auspiciousness.
In addition, Hanshan Temple also has a newly built Puming Pagoda, which is a four-square five-story pavilion-style building. The pagoda courtyard is both water and land, with a regular layout, inheriting the layout of the Tang Dynasty site.
Suzhou is suitable for tourism in all seasons, especially from April to October. During this period, you can enjoy the natural scenery of peach blossoms and willows, and taste seasonal specialties such as fresh peaches, Biluochun, and sugar lotus. Hanshan Temple

the origin of the famous poem “A Night Mooring by Maple Bridge”!!!
Hanshan Temple is frequently linked with the renowned poet Zhang Ji from the Tang Dynasty, credited with crafting the famous poem “A Night Mooring by Maple Bridge” (枫桥夜泊). The poem vividly depicts the resonating sound of the temple bell during the night, evoking a poignant and contemplative ambiance. It’s fascinating to realize that the actual temple referenced in the poem is the same Hanshan Temple that I visited. How intriguing!

Suzhou | Hanshan Temple outside Gusu City is famous for its midnight bell
🚗 Hanshan Temple is located in Gusu District, Suzhou City. It was first built during the Tianjian period of the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties (502-519 AD) and was originally named 'Miaoli Puming Pagoda Courtyard'. Hanshan Temple covers an area of about 13,000 square meters, with a building area of more than 3,400 square meters. Hanshan Temple belongs to the Linji sect of Zen Buddhism. During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, the famous monks Hanshan and Shide founded Hanshan Temple. Over the past 1,000 years, Hanshan Temple has been destroyed by fire five times (some say seven times), with the last reconstruction occurring during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Historically, Hanshan Temple was one of the top ten famous temples in China, with many ancient relics inside, including the stone inscription of Zhang Ji's poem, stone carvings of Hanshan and Shide, and fragments of inscriptions by Wen Zhengming and Tang Yin.
🚗 Most of the halls in Hanshan Temple are Qing Dynasty buildings, including the Mahavira Hall, Sutra Library, Bell Tower, Stele Gallery, Fengjiang Tower, and Shuangzhong Pavilion. The architectural layout of Hanshan Temple does not follow a strict central axis. The ancient stone arch bridge in front of the temple gate is Jiangcun Bridge, and the yellow wall between the bridge and the temple gate is called Zhaobi. There are two ancient camphor trees on either side of the temple gate. Inside the yellow wall, the classical pavilions have flying eaves and upturned corners. To the right is Fengjiang Tower, and to the left is Shuangzhong Pavilion, both originating from the poem 'Night Mooring at Maple Bridge'. Behind the Buddha shrine stands a majestic statue of a general facing inward towards the Mahavira Hall, holding a vajra pestle, also known as a demon-subduing pestle. This is Weituo, the leader of the thirty-two celestial generals under the Four Heavenly Kings.
🚗 Hanshan Temple is renowned worldwide for its bell. Every New Year's Eve or New Year's Day night, Hanshan Temple holds a bell-ringing ceremony, striking the bell 108 times. Each strike represents a worry, and after listening to the bell, one's worries for the coming year are said to be swept away. If you have worries, come and listen to the midnight bell. Many people, like me, know Hanshan Temple because of the poem 'Night Mooring at Maple Bridge': 'Outside Gusu City, Hanshan Temple, the midnight bell reaches the guest boat'. However, today's prosperity seems to have long overshadowed the sentiment of those days.

💗Travel Experience: I visited Lingering Garden, Xiyuan Temple, Hanshan Temple, and Tiger Hill in one day.
The small electric scooter is indeed a great helper for special forces-style travel. It is much more convenient to have a small electric scooter in Suzhou, and you can ride it for a long time.
The vegetarian noodles at Xiyuan Temple are truly unforgettable, and the scenery of Jiangnan is also mesmerizing. The weather wasn't great when we went, but it added a kind of hazy charm to the experience.
