CITY BAKERY, located in Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort, is a popular cafe for skiers and snowboarders, where you can enjoy meals and drinks while taking in the beautiful mountain scenery. They have a wide selection of fresh breads and pastries that you would expect from a bakery, and they also have a wide selection of coffee and drinks. I visited the store around 11:00 on a weekday, and had to wait about 10 minutes to enter the store. There were so many delicious looking breads lined up in the store that I had a hard time deciding what to get. Croissants are popular, but this time I had the most popular BakersMuffin (¥660) and an iced cafe latte (¥640). The BakersMuffin is made of cinnamon-kneaded dough with apples, raisins, and walnuts, and has a crispy texture with cinnamon as an accent, making it very delicious. I had it on the terrace, and was able to spend a wonderful tea time in front of the spectacular view. |I Saw the Golden Mountain in Nagano: Hakuba Village.🏔️Hakuba is best known for its ski resorts, as it was one of the venues for the 1998 Winter Olympics. 🏠It's not snow season yet, so I stayed at a guesthouse in the village, where I could see the morning sun shining on the snow-capped mountains. 🚗There is a free bus from JR Hakuba Station to [Hakuba Iwatake], and then you can take a cable car to Mt. Iwatake (1,289 m), where you can ride a mountain bike at the top. 🥖The New York coffee shop [THE CITY BAKERY] has also opened a store at the top of the mountain, with outdoor seating overlooking the Northern Alps. The coffee shop has a glass-enclosed observation deck where you can take pictures, and there are a lot of people, especially on weekends when there are lines of tourists taking pictures. There is also a swing (for a fee) facing the mountains next to the coffee shop. 🍁This season, you can take pictures of the famous three-stage autumn leaves at the observation deck, with snow on the top of the mountain🏔️, autumn leaves on the mountainside🍁, and green trees at the foot of the mountain🍃. You have to take a seat on the terrace yourself, so it's best to call out when a seat looks like it might be available. It can be windy, so be careful when taking a seat!!
