Tokyo Surroundings|Hakone Hot Spring B&B|Hakone Suishoen
During this trip to Tokyo (2025.4.4-.4.8), in addition to sightseeing in the city, I also arranged a two-day and one-night trip to the suburbs of Tokyo and chose the hot spring hotel "Hakone Suishoen". We booked the room about three months ago, and it turned out to be the right decision. The price went up a lot later and the room type we wanted was no longer available (laughs).
This time we stayed in a room with two meals plan, and the overall experience was definitely worth it. Because it started raining heavily when we were halfway through our trip to Hakone, we gave up part of our itinerary and arrived at the nearest train station (Kowakidani Station) early. We called the hotel fifteen minutes in advance and were immediately picked up by a shuttle bus as soon as we arrived at the station. It was a completely seamless and smooth journey.
Check-in was fast and our luggage was waiting for us in the room. ) (I would like to recommend the luggage delivery service of Hakone Yumoto - we sent it out at about 11 am, and it was neatly placed in the room before 3 pm. It was very convenient, and we didn't have to carry the luggage up the mountain by ourselves)
The room gives you a sense of surprise as soon as you enter. You can tell that it has been renovated. It retains traditional Japanese elements but is not old-fashioned at all. The bathroom is very large, and the shower area and private hot spring are connected together, so the flow of movement is very smooth. A variety of drinks were prepared in the room, and the hot spring had been prepared long ago and was emitting hot steam. The entire suite was approximately 45 square meters in size, which was spacious and comfortable. It was very relaxing to live in, without the oppressive feeling of a small hotel in the city.
We arrived at the restaurant at 7 o'clock in the evening to enjoy the Japanese Kaiseki cuisine that we had reserved in advance. The whole meal had a comfortable rhythm and each dish showed the chef's careful design. What impressed me most was the Wagyu beef dish. The fat was fine, the meat was tender, and the gravy was rich. It really melted in your mouth. This meal alone might be worth 1/4 of the room price in downtown Tokyo! ! ! The dessert was also a perfect ending, delicate but not too sweet, bringing the whole meal to a beautiful end.
The next day's breakfast was also in the form of a Japanese set meal. Although it was mainly cold dishes, the presentation was exquisite and the taste was very refreshing, which was very suitable for the rhythm of the morning. After breakfast, I went to the public bathhouse for a soak. I reserved the entire place in the morning and it was so comfortable. The hotel thoughtfully extended our check-out by 20 minutes and also carefully helped us move our luggage to the front desk and put it on the shuttle bus. The whole experience was really impeccable from beginning to end. Even the final drop-off was very respectful to the guests, and the service was so meticulous that it made people feel relaxed.
Because of the heavy rain, we didn’t get to play much in Hakone, but fortunately we chose Suishoen, and the trip to Hakone ended in a super satisfactory and comfortable way! !
