When it comes to tourism in Shenzhen, you might only know about Shenzhen's popular tourist attractions such as Window of the World, Happy Valley, Overseas Chinese Town East, and Splendid China. In fact, in the fast-paced city of Shenzhen, where life and work are bustling, there is also a slower side to life, such as Shenzhen's ancient villages. So where are these ancient villages in Shenzhen distributed? What fun ancient villages are there in Shenzhen? Shenzhen's three distinctive ancient villages:
1. Dapeng Fortress Dapeng Fortress, located in Pengcheng Village, Dapeng Town, Dapeng New District, Longgang, eastern Shenzhen, covers an area of 110,000 square meters and was founded in the 27th year of Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1394), covering an area of about 110,000 square meters. It was a military fortress for coastal defense in southern China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a history of over 600 years of resisting foreign invasions, producing a group of outstanding national heroes such as Lai Enjue, Lai Xinyang, Lai Enxi, Liu Qilong, and Liu Heizi. Dapeng Fortress is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province and a base for patriotic education.
2. Baguang Village Baguang Village, known as being located at the eastern end of the Kui Chong Office in Dapeng New District, Longgang, Shenzhen, at the terminal station of the Yanba Expressway. Baguang Village is backed by mountains and faces the sea, with beautiful scenery, and still retains a relatively primitive topography and landforms. Although more than a hundred old houses are now empty, they are still well preserved. Behind the old houses, there are overlapping mountains, dense forests, and a long coastline. The most amazing are the groups of silverleaf trees that grow along the coast. The silverleaf tree is a rare species of mangrove, and it can only be seen in Japan, India, and China. This silverleaf forest is home to more than 300 uniquely shaped silverleaf trees, among others.
3. Guanlan Printmaking Village Guanlan Printmaking Village, one of the top ten Hakka ancient villages in Shenzhen, is located in the hometown of Chen Yanyi, a pioneer of China's new woodcut movement, printmaker, and art theorist, in Niuhu Community, Guanlan Street, Longhua District, Shenzhen. Its architectural style is the typical Hakka row house form. This long-famed Hakka village, now together with OCT East Hakka Town, Hehu New Residence, Jingu Village, and others, has become a hot spot for rural and folk tourism in Shenzhen.
