I've been to Sanya 9 times, and each time was a new experience. I know Sanya like the back of my hand. This post is full of useful tips, no ads. If you're planning a trip to Sanya, make sure to save this post! 🚇 Transportation Don't rush to get a taxi when you arrive in Sanya. There are airport buses at Exit 5 that go directly to the city center. If you have a lot of luggage, go to the parking lot on the 3rd floor opposite Exit 7 to get a ride-hailing car. The drivers are quick to accept orders, so you don't have to worry about not getting a car. 📆 Travel planning If it's your first time in Sanya, don't try to visit all the attractions in one day! The attractions in Sanya are scattered, so it's best to visit one area at a time. Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay, and Haitang Bay each have their own unique charm. Take your time to enjoy the relaxing island atmosphere. If you want to take a beautiful aerial photo of the Nanhai Guanyin statue from the plane, choose a window seat on the left side in the last five rows when checking in. 🏨 Accommodation Choose a hotel in Sanya Bay or Dadonghai. These areas are convenient for transportation, have many attractions nearby, and are lively at night. There are hotels in all price ranges, so you can find one that fits your budget. 🌤 Weather The weather in Sanya is changeable, with temperatures usually between 25 and 32 degrees. Sometimes it's sunny with strong UV rays, and sometimes it rains briefly. Make sure to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat and sunscreen, and bring an umbrella just in case. 🎈 Attractions • Yanoda Rainforest: A must-visit! This natural oxygen bar has thrilling zip lines, educational programs, and hiking trails. It's a great place for the whole family to have fun. • Beaches: In terms of beach quality, Haitang Bay > Yalong Bay > Sanya Bay = Dadonghai. However, the waves at Haitang Bay are too strong for swimming. If you're looking for a beach with fine sand, go to Clearwater Bay in Lingshui. • Islands: Wuzhizhou Island, West Island, and Boundary Island each have their own charm. Wuzhizhou Island is more expensive, but has a wide range of water activities and facilities. West Island is a fishing village with a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing vacation. Boundary Island offers close encounters with marine animals and the chance to feed stingrays, making it a great choice for families. • Coconut Dream Corridor: This 20 km long stretch has several great photo spots. Navigate to "Haiyun Resort Hotel" for a large lawn and coconut grove with a sea view. You can also relax under a beach umbrella. Go to "Beautiful New Coast" at 6 pm for a stunning sunset over the coastal road. "Sanya Bay Rest Area" has beach chairs and lifeguards, and is less crowded. • Glass Sea: Sun Bay, Xiaodonghai, West Island, Wuzhizhou Island, Tianya Town, and Sanya Corner are all great places to see the glass sea. Make sure to go on a sunny day for the best views. 🍢 Night markets There are many night markets in Sanya, so just choose one nearby. If it's your first time, I recommend Yiheng Night Market, First Market Night Market, Ganghua Night Market, and Linwang Night Market. Sanya is not big, there's no subway, but the buses are quite convenient. They go to every tourist spot, so remember to do your research on the attractions before you go! 3. Accommodations in Sanya are mainly distributed across four bays. If you want to stay in high-end hotels and experience a holiday vibe, go to Haitang Bay; hotels in Yalong Bay offer luxury sea view rooms; if you're on a budget, Dadonghai and Yalong Bay are close to the city center, with convenient transportation and easy access to food and entertainment! 5. If you're short on time, visiting either West Island or Wuzhizhou Island is enough. You can see the glass sea and enjoy the scenery of the small islands; go to West Island if you want to experience local customs and slow life, or choose Wuzhizhou Island for water sports! 6. Don't navigate directly to Yemeng Gallery, as it's 20 kilometers long. The point you reach by direct navigation is usually crowded, making it hard to take good photos. Navigate to Haiyun Hotel instead, where there's a large lawn, perfect for taking great photos on a sunny day and watching a stunning sunset! 7. Head out early to Nanshan Temple to easily find a parking spot and avoid the crowds. Besides seeing the 108-meter-tall sea-based Guanyin statue, you can also touch Buddha's feet, draw fortune sticks, copy scriptures for blessings, and get stamped. There are places in the scenic area where you can get free incense, and you must not wear revealing clothes! 10. Sanya's attractions are quite scattered, and the distances across bays are large. If you happen to be with a group of friends, renting a car for a self-driving tour is more experiential. Be sure to rent from a reputable platform and take a video of the car's condition before renting! 11. Visit the duty-free shop in the morning, you can start shopping when it opens at 10 am. It gets crowded in the afternoon, and you may have to queue for some popular brands! 8. There are many night markets in Sanya, and they are all pretty similar. Visit the one closest to you; if you're staying in Sanya Bay or Dadonghai, you can visit the First Market Night Market and Yiheng Night Market; if you're in Yalong Bay, you can visit Bohou Village Night Market, and if you're in Haitang Bay, Linwang Night Market is the place to go! 9. I don't recommend eating seafood at the night market, but the snacks are worth it! There are quite a few special foods in Sanya, and the ones I found tasty include Xiaobai's Oriental Roast Suckling Pig, Yanjiang Hainan Cuisine, Buzaike Seafood, and Qionger Zao Vinegar Coconut Chicken! 10. For local souvenirs, you can go to the supermarket at Shengli Square, which offers a wide selection and is reliable and affordable. For fruits, try Xinhong Port or the First Market, and don't be shy to bargain. Good vendors will offer you wholesale prices. For shipping, I suggest choosing the less ripe ones!

We decided to book the newly refurbished Fairmont on Haitang Bay. We couldn’t have been more delighted! Even Before we arrived, the hotel had arranged for some special drinks that I requested. On arrival, we were taken straight to our room and had check in there! it’s was great to not do this at reception. We had a great greeting from all the staff and it really gave us a personalised feeling. One thing that separates this hotel is it’s staff! well trained and super friendly, efficient and professional. Everyday it seemed like they just wanted to make our experience superb. The facilities are very good with an excellent gold lounge which serves afternoon tea, happy hour 5/7 (food and drinks), and a quieter breakfast area. the main breakfast area has lots of different seating both inside and out. The lobby bar is great for an evening drink with live music. There is a small gym and kids play area and clubs. The pool is a good size and has kids section, we asked to move some sun beds to avoid the busier parts of the pool and the staff were super helpful. We requested sun beds for the beach too. The beach is a very short walk down a grassed area which has sun loungers too. The view from the beach is amazing and the water is so warm and clear! The rooms are great with a lovely bath outside which they will run for you whilst you are out at dinner! it was amazing to come back to the room and sit outside in the bath relaxing! One of the reasons we will go back is because if we had a small issue or wanted something special, they went out of their way to do it. A great holiday, we spent 22 nights here and are booking again for next year! A true Fairmont experience! I felt happy and relaxed walking around the mall. They have a big supermarket with lots of food options. I bought some snacks and drinks. The mall is clean and has nice decorations. I enjoyed the air-conditioning on a hot day. It's a great place to spend time with friends and family.

I had a wonderful time at Haitang Bay and would love to go back! We spent the day lounging on the beach and taking dips in the ocean. The water was warm and inviting. We also tried paddleboarding and kayaking, which was a lot of fun. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so we grabbed lunch and dinner at a few of them. The seafood was fresh and delicious. Overall, Haitang Bay is a great place to relax and unwind. I felt rejuvenated and refreshed after our visit!

Sanya family trip with kids staying at Pullman. So happy🥳||Took a last-minute vacation✈️ and chose to bring the kids to Sanya for a hotel stay🏨. No need for a guide, plenty for the kids to do, the best choice for traveling with kids. Our first stop in Sanya, we chose the Pullman Oceanview Sanya Bay Resort & Spa in Haitang Bay. Overall, it was pretty good😄 We stayed for three nights and were grateful for the room upgrade. We stayed in the Emerald Tower, which was very convenient for the kids' activities and the breakfast restaurant. Although the room is a bit old, it's well-maintained. The design style is modern and cozy. I really liked the hotel beds, they were very comfortable. The ocean view room overlooks the pool and the sea. The hairdryer was a bit old and not very convenient to use. The hotel environment is beautiful, with many pools, a large lawn, and an infinity pool, all perfect for taking pictures📷. The coconut grove leading to the beach is very photogenic, I loved it. The hotel has a private beach equipped with lounge chairs and free sand toys for children. The kids played in the sand while the adults relaxed nearby and enjoyed the sea. It was truly enjoyable. Haitang Bay is very windy, so although we couldn't go in the sea, seeing the surging waves was another kind of experience. We added the butler on WeChat when we checked in. The butler's daily tips and greetings made us feel very warm and cared for. They also gave us complimentary welcome fruit and snacks, which we appreciated. The hotel has a wide range of children's activities, including baking, crafts, a children's play area, go-karts, bumper cars, a small train, and more. Apart from eating and sleeping, the kids spent all their time playing. They had a lot of fun, although it was a bit tiring for the parents😂 The hotel has a buffet restaurant, Thai restaurant, noodle bar, etc. We had the breakfast and dinner buffets, which had a good variety and tasted good. But the most noteworthy thing is their desserts. For those who love sweets, it was truly amazing. There were so many kinds of desserts, and they all tasted great. If you have a flexible budget, go for a hotel in Haitang Bay/Yalong Bay. The hotel facilities are new and comprehensive, and the service is excellent! For better value, stay in Dadonghai. If you want to be close to the airport/station, stay in Sanya Bay. 3. You don't need a guided tour in Sanya, especially a cheap one. Considering that flights and hotels take up most of the budget, you can imagine the remaining itinerary arrangements—a pure waste of time. The food is also mediocre, and they take you to free scenic spots and shopping areas. If you don't buy anything, the tour guide gives you a hard time. 4. The 108-meter-high Guanyin statue at Nanshan Temple is truly awe-inspiring. You can pray for blessings here. There's a place where incense is provided for free, so you don't need to bring your own. The scenic spot is huge, so it's recommended to take the sightseeing bus. 5. To get to Coconut Dream Corridor, navigate to "Sanya Bay Parking Lot No. 5". There are large coconut groves and lawns, very lush, and most importantly, there are few people. Watching the sunset there is absolutely breathtaking. 6. Don't go to Luhuitou Park during the day. It's too sunny and not very scenic! The best way to experience it is to go up at night and enjoy the night view of Sanya. 7. I don't recommend going to Tianya Haijiao (Ends of the Earth) if the weather is bad. On a sunny day, it's a great place for taking photos. There are many homestays and cafes that are also very photogenic. 8. Don't buy tickets for the aquarium at Atlantis right away.
