Welcome to the provincial museum of Guizhou, located in Jinyang, Guangshan Lake District. It is conveniently located along a major road, slightly opposite the Guiyang international convention center. Entrance is free but an online booking is required as there are many people who go to visit the museum. The architect who designed this building definitely knows what he was doing, it’s amazing, very big and very colorful even on the outside confirming the Guizhou motto: Colorful Guizhou. There are various floors once you enter, each section dedicated to different displays. There is the history section, fossils section, clothing section, silverware section, art section, calligraphy section and a special one according to me, the children’s art section (where kids showcase their art) There are also a number of souvenir shops in level -1 where one can buy books, silverware, dyed fabrics all showing the history and culture of Guizhou. It’s quite an experience for history and culture lovers and there’s a lot to learn. Groups can organize a guide to help and introduce different sections of the museum, for individuals, one can get a gadget with prerecorded audio introducing everything in the museum. In 2008, hey decided to finally open it up to the public It covers an area of 7.1 ha and has a total construction area of 4.6 ha. More than 200,000 pieces of cultural relics and specimens are stored and displayed here. It got 7 galleries that featured different collections of curators. But the main collection featured on the museum are ethnic cultural relics. It got 4 floors plus basement. We visited Guiyang in winter, while the weather was unfortunately cold and a bit snowy. Therefore it was good to find an attraction that was inside and was interesting. The museum is easiest to get to by taking the Metro and alighting at the International Conference Center. At the entrance, you need to scan the code and get a free digital ticket to enter. Once inside, you will learn about the history and culture of colorful Guizhou province. From the diverse people and their cultures and traditions, to prehistoric history and art. Guizhou, abbreviated as Qian, is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, with 92.5% of its area being mountains and hills. Humans have lived and thrived here for 500,000 to 600,000 years. Before the Spring and Autumn Period, the northeastern part of Guizhou belonged to Jingchu, while the rest of the region was generally referred to as Nanman. During the Warring States Period and the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Yelang Kingdom rose in the southwest of China, with Guizhou as its center. During the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, the southern barbarians, namely Yelang, were pacified, and the area was governed by the Cangke Jun. Guizhou Museum is located in Guanshanhu District, Guiyang City, and has a collection of more than 80,000 items. The museum's highlights include Guizhou's paleontological fossils, Paleolithic artifacts, ethnic artifacts, and various artifacts reflecting local history, culture, and diversity. On this trip to Guiyang, I stayed at Sofitel Guiyang Hunter for three days and two nights, and visited Qianling Mountain Park, Jiaxiu Tower, and Cuiwei Garden. 3 days and 2 nights in Guiyang | Thanks to my husband for his active support when our baby was 120 days old. Many people say that winter is the worst time to visit (rainy and cold), hahaha! But I was lucky enough to have two days of good weather. Although the first day was freezing cold, the next two days were over 10°C and I was sweating. Lazy itinerary Day 1: 12:30 Arrive at Guiyang Airport, Guizhou Museum, Douhua Fish Hotel (order takeout: Guizhou-style spring rolls, Qu Tea Mountain, beef skewers, ice cream) Day 2: 10:56 Depart for Libo Xiaoqikong, Guizhou-style sour soup hot pot Day 3: 10:35 Go out, 857 Hot Pot (drink Lishan Mountain) Humen Street Catholic Church, hotel rest, Anshun Duochi Duo Fen Airport Accommodation: Atour Hotel (less than CNY 200 per person per day) Recommended breakfast with a wide variety of food, daily fruit, late-night snacks, and yogurt delivered to the room. Convenient location, 5 minutes to the subway, and all the places we visited on the third day were within walking distance. Transportation: You can use the Alipay ride code, but you need to top up your account first. You can get a 10% discount when you top up, and you can get a refund for the remaining balance. According to my itinerary, the subway fare is less than CNY 20 (we took a taxi half the time). One thing to complain about! The subway signs are not clear! Are they afraid of being found by me?! The old city center of Guiyang is Jiaxiu Tower, which is a must-visit. However, it's not because of any special features, but rather because there's almost nothing else worth seeing in Guiyang in winter except for this small pavilion. In summer, however, Guiyang is a great place to escape the heat. The temperature is not too high, and while not as cool as Kunming, it's far more comfortable than Chengdu and Chongqing. The reason why tourism in Guizhou has exploded this summer is also related to its climate. A trip to Qianling Mountain is truly comfortable, and highly recommended. The Guizhou Provincial Museum is also worth a visit, especially its paleontological exhibits. The Guizhou Dragon and the Qianyu Dragon are famous, so I won't go into detail here. Guizhou doesn't appear much in history, but it shone brightly during the Ming Dynasty, especially during the late Ming and Southern Ming periods. Guizhou's Tusi were a powerful political force in the southwestern frontier, and it took the Ming government decades to suppress them.
