Gubeikou Ancient Town is located in the northeast of Miyun District, Beijing. Gubeikou is a famous historical and cultural town in Beijing. It can be traced back to the Warring States Period when the State of Yan established Yuyang County and built piers and defenses in Gubeikou. The Great Wall of Qin and Han Dynasty was built hundreds of miles north of Gubeikou. In the seventh year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (556), the Great Wall was first built in Gubeikou. After the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, in order to defend against the Mongolian forces retreating to the north of the desert, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered Xu Da to renovate the Great Wall in Gubeikou and other places to strengthen border defense. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, the famous anti-Japanese general Qi Jiguang was ordered to rebuild the Jizhen Great Wall. Gubeikou is one of the important passes and the essence of the Ming Great Wall. There are many scenic spots in Gubeikou Ancient Town, especially various temples, including Yang Linggong Temple, Lu Zu Temple, Yaowang Temple, Niangniang Temple, etc. It can be said to be a grand view garden of temples.
